This isn't a religion, it's certified insanity. There is nothing Godly at all, at all, about what Fred Phelps and his concomitant Bin of Certified Loons (FPBCL) do and say. Do you recall, these are the lovely persons from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, who take it upon themselves to appear at the funerals of our military personnel and announce and protest that their departed loved ones "have gone to Hell." Witness the above signs -- signs you'd see at the funeral of your loved one -- signs such as "God Sent The IEDs," "Thank God For Dead Soldiers," "Thank God For Maimed Soldiers."
There is almost nothing more despicable and condemnable than that. I actually find myself bereft of appropriate words to describe this group. If there were any group of individuals deserving to fry and twist in burning Hell, it is anyone even remotely connected to those who appeared at these funerals -- and of course the Supreme Devil himself, Phelps. I'm not providing any links to this asshole and his group of assholes -- you can do that yourself to your own diminishment. And it is clearly these (insert your favorite derogatory word here) who are responsible for lending credence to the Left that the Right consists of religious loons. These people are clearly insane and the best reason I can provide to justify abortion -- if they had been aborted.
Recall the five young girls killed in the Amish schoolhouse this Monday? Can you imagine this: the Phelps crew was planning to appear at that funeral and picket it. What?? For what possible reason did they think this a good idea??
Sick, sick, twisted, soulless, lacking any amount of humanity -- I'm out of words again.
For whatever reason I happened to be scanning the AM band last night and caught the Mike Gallagher show, where he guested the daughter of Fred Phelps, Shirley Phelps-Roper. I had the unfortunate displeasure to hear this absolutely insane, evil woman proclaim over the air that those poor children were not going to Hell, they were IN HELL because they were not Godly and did not adhere to the scriptures. "They did that to themselves," Roper quipped. In what possible way, ladies and gentlemen, can you even remotely feature the Amish not a good, decent or God-fearing segment of persons? What manner of person can say this, open their trash-hole and say this, and not feel this is so, so wrong?
Gallagher then offered one hour of his airtime in exchange for an agreement for the Phelps contingent not to appear at the Amish funeral. And Roper agreed.
Yes, I know you will say, it was nothing more than a radio stunt.
Stunt or not, if Roper keeps her word (and I remain unconvinced) and the funerals are unsullied by the presence of the Phelps' cult's evil, then it will have been worth it.
What an incredible, unmitigated plague and evil is this cult.

More proof that the devil is indeed alive and flourishing. These people make him rejoice! I understand your anger because I share it. Like the idiot who killed those poor innocent children, the Phelps crowd cannot wait to add pain to the pain the Amish are already suffering, and they also know the Amish will do nothing to fight back.
ReplyDeleteWe need some good old redneck boys to stand guard near the funerals.
Gayle: I hate to say it, but for a moment I flashed into being present at the funeral and donning a nice pair of sap gloves for the coming donnybrook.

What did we do to deserve these sorts of mindless lunatics?
ReplyDeleteI hope each time they're planning to show up, and cause pain, that those bikers show up. My hat's off to them for tossing aside any politics and riding where they're needed to protect the grieving families from these horrid examples of human filth!
Benning: Filth. Nice descriptor. And so appropos.

BZ, I was going to post something on these idiots too, then I figured I'd let someone else do it. My wife is writing something that I'm sure will be more tasteful than I would be.
ReplyDeleteI did like my title "Phuck Phred Phelps" has a nice ring to it.....
These idiots need to be horsewhipped and if they ever decide to venture within a 100 miles of me, I'll need bail money.....
Using your beliefs as a club to bash others doesn't seem very christian to me. I do wonder how these people rationalise/justify the harm they do not only to the people they are harassing, but also to other christians.
ReplyDeleteI saw a few clips from Fred Phelps on another site, and I at first found myself laughing, thinking it was a parody, but no sadly he's all too real...
Serai: you make a point to those who consider themselves to be Christians. Being agnostic, I myself cannot say I hold to what many of my peers hold -- a bit odd as I am clearly Conservative. But given that, these nutjobs would be laughable, as you indicate, if it were not for the fact that they insist on not isolating their particular brand of lunacy and keep it within the walls of some lunatic church, but go out of their way to export it to those who are already hurting massively. There is nothing even remotely "good" about that, and I have no hesitation in branding these nutjobs with various labels at all. They ARE nutjobs masking themselves in "religion." They ARE evil incarnate.
