  5. If it's that bad, Microsoft must have a hand in it.

  8. Is there anyone here, besides me, who was either tempted to or actually HAS done physical damage to a malfunctioning POS. I have taken a ballpeen hammer to a malicious printer, and it was absolutely delightful.

  9. BZ,
I must relay a story to you. My husband had been having trouble with his laptop for a long while. Then, it stopped functioning altogether. He was so ticked because the warranty was up. Well, he placed the laptop, POS that it was, on the ground and ran it over with the car several times. He felt great after doing that. I have to say I was LOL. We both said good riddance to the POS computer.

  10. Wow, I'm still laughing! And while I was watching it, your late dad in that photo was looking at me as if to say, "yes, I know."

  14. I can't remember when I have laughed so hard...thanks :-)
To answer your question, yes..I took a hammer to a desk top, and more recently stomped my phone (a *Dash* ) to death. And I will do it again if they keep making crap like it.
At my age, anger management classes wouldn't work.

  15. Yes Sony can put out great iconography to showcase the latest POS... so can Apple, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Microsoft....

You know it is possible to sell lots of crap products with great imagery? With great talking points! And getting people to ignore what is inside the package and if it actually works or makes any sense to them.... just look at the NSDAP and what the USSR did with imagery. You can sell any bunch of crap with a great image, but getting people to think if it makes sense BEFORE they buy it?

Good luck on that, I tellya.

  16. I like increasing technical abilities but it's coming untested, unproven, and new items are coming out faster than they can be absorbed.

  18. Aaaaaaah. . .even though it's Sunday now, it gladdens my heart to read that I am not the only one who has been taken to 210-over-190 by wantonly malfunctioning POS little machines "made to enrich and ease our lives" whose, instead, only jobs are to COMPLICATE OUR LIVES!!

  19. I want to press "send" and not have to ask "Can you hear me now?"
I don't give a flip if it takes photos or can surf the web.

  20. BZ,
I'm laughing at this because my wife and I just bought a huge HI-DEF TV. We thought we were seeing and loving the best TV. My son comes over and lo and behold he says, "That doesn't look like it should." He goes behind the TV and starts disconnecting wires and daggone if we don't have a great picture. Yeah, the POS are tought to figure out. Good post. I'm a Luddite too. Of course, their fears have been realized, no?
