Oil is oil.

There are the Canadian oil sands and fields in Montana and various fields off the Fornicalia coast.

And you are Right. The Left does what it can to destroy whatever the Right proposes for alternative sources.

BZBloviating Zeppelinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01359816456769157176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7370534.post-1154997261433540572006-08-07T17:34:00.000-07:002006-08-07T17:34:00.000-07:00Mr. Z - I have looked at the alternatives, they ar...Mr. Z - I have looked at the alternatives, they are not good for the terrestrial based long-term. For the short term of 30 years or so we can do all sorts of funnish things and tweak at the edges. That said we still need, desperately, a long term energy policy and a stop gap energy policy for those fun 30 years or so.

I recommend investing heavily in the Canadian oil sands and opening up the continental shelf to exploration and drilling... as I laid out in the stop-gap plan, plus heavy investment in getting us off of these consumables and into a true renewable...

Any biomass solution makes us absolutely dependent upon agriculture for *fuel*. And requires high investment into the Nation's infrastructure. With the folks doing the proof of concept of balloon-to-orbit it is now time to start offering prizes to actually beam energy down to Earth and make a sustainable space-based infrastructure and get NASA out of the business.

It is pure idiocy to have destroyed our heavy lift capacity and gotten zilch in return. Criminal to have destroyed that because *we have needs on Earth for that money*. Uh-huh. And what did all that investment in poverty get us? More poverty! Instead of heavy industrial jobs for space. And NOW we can pay dearly for that oversight and at a far, far higher cost.

Thanks to the Left for that. Such nice folks to destroy the Nation's infrastructure by doing that. Now when we *need* a future resource independent of the Arab oil what do we have? Nada.

For *looking to the future* the Left sure does like to destroy the present.

Color me bitter... I am sure I can get to vituperative when I get some energy back... heh...A Jacksonianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07607888697879327120noreply@blogger.com
