I cannot, simply cannot wrap my mind around the concept that the majority of the Democrats believe the NYT's is a mouthpiece for the Right! WHAT? They'd have to be completely deluded to believe that! Well... I guess that explains it.Gaylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02540710405153666843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7370534.post-25502431643287439862008-03-10T06:45:00.000-07:002008-03-10T06:45:00.000-07:00BZ,Great analysis. The Defectors from the left are infiltrating the Republican side and if the trend keeps up, we will not have a GOP.. We will have the marxists vs. the liberals. The conservatives will have to create their own party eventually.

Of course, this is just based on what I am seeing now. It could all change and the Rockefeller Repubs. might get overtaken by Reaganites. Who knows. It is the current trend that is frightening.Rivkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17074803139812941783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7370534.post-10803193119778591022008-03-10T04:46:00.000-07:002008-03-10T04:46:00.000-07:00Ah, freedom of speech! It didn't just start with ...Ah, freedom of speech! It didn't just start with McCain-Feingold and 527s and such... no it goes a bit further than that on the R side of things. In fact at the 1999 National Association of Broadcasters meeting, Sen. McCain would go quite a bit further and put forth that there really was no opportunity in broadcasting left: it was all cable and internet. He wanted to make damned sure of that by strangling Low Power FM services in the cradle, because local communities just don't need local news and views done by local folks. Just let the MSM do it for you! That is the upshot of his views then... so Rush was definitely in the *legacy* media and new broadcasting outlets just didn't need to go anywhere as the net would get coverage and cable does the rest and, really, the federal government is the best thing to decide these sorts of deals now, isn't it?

He would then come up with a the standard DC hodge-podge of 'minority set asides' for local cable producers and other fun things, just because, you know, very cheap LPFM sets were far too egalitarian and would be easy to purchase and use, while having to force local cable operations to do things was ever so much better. I then stumbled across an article and from that googled the McCain-Ensign bill and local right of way for cable companies... never in my life have I seen so many disparate cities, towns and villages, plus local municipalities send such scathing letters to Washington! Plus, in amongst the letters, there were some folks carping about how 'local cable access' meant little watched channels and broadcasting at odd hours. Not only do they get federal help but they *complain about it*.

Of course McCain also went after political free speech back in 1998, trying to get backing for something only a liberal, like Feingold, could love. Once that got rolling he realized that he could get intrusive with public internet terminals, even after the SCOTUS ruled against the COPA, and tried to basically 'reword' COPA so that adults would have the restrictions of children and have to ask for adult priveleges in public. Apparently, in the world seen by John McCain, you need 'super adults' to tell regular adults what they can and cannot do. I mean that 'for the kids' dodged worked so well with the 1998 Tobacco tax bill, now, didn't it?

So don't worry, the R party has your back! They will prevent you from gambling online! I mean don't worry your little heads about things, I am sure that a nice, federal, regulation will solve any single problem... and save you from too much 'free speech' while giving special funds to 'minorities' to bombard you with special interest speech.

What is the differences between Big Government Liberals and Conservatives? I haven't found any yet. They both will tell you what to do for 'your own good' as that is 'the job of government'.A Jacksonianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07607888697879327120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7370534.post-45841873113026299762008-03-09T22:02:00.000-07:002008-03-09T22:02:00.000-07:00remember the invasion of the body snatchers? where...remember the invasion of the body snatchers? where everyone around is turning into Obamazombies? oh, wait a min., that's here and now, isn't it?Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14771645943793084344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7370534.post-41960648008704996412008-03-09T21:56:00.000-07:002008-03-09T21:56:00.000-07:00What is scary is the sheer number of people you wi...What is scary is the sheer number of people you will meet on the street who parrot all of move-on.org's talking points du jour. people who wouldn't have even considered such leftist ideas just ten years ago. there has been a serious loss of personal thinking in just a few years. where one used to have conversations with people, now you can't. it's not "polite" to talk about "sensitive" issues like politics or religion. well, fuck that noise! we can't have a society if we can't talk to each other! wake up America!!Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14771645943793084344noreply@blogger.com
