When voter turnout drops below 50%, you cannot be said to truly be living in a representative democracy. This is the path to tyranny and Big Government that coalesces from the Right and Left, each having their own Nannystate ideals until the Rights of the People are so hemmed and limited as to be meaningless.

I detest the two party system, vehemently.

Political parties with heirarchical structures remove the say of individuals and concentrate power and money into fewer and fewer hands. Some rationale for that in the 19th and early 20th century was understandable. It is, however, totally contrary to the full Freedoms laid out in the Constitution and can be fully done in another way in the 21st century so that each person has their say in cacophony, but then agree upon commonality of ideas until true majority is reached.

And the only way to get a Political Party like that is to make one. A party that is as strong or weak as those people in it wish it to be for themselves. A party that requires some common understanding, but rejects no good ideas so long as they fall within what keeps a Free People free. A party that says 'NO' to Nannystate, 'NO' to Big Government and, in point of fact, looks to hit the Federal RESET button so as to eliminate all the things the Government was never meant to have.

I am the least able person to do this.

And yet the Burden of the Republic ultimately rests upon the shoulders of those least able to sustain it: The People.

I do blame the Parties and Politicians for so twisting this system as to drive out itnerest in democracy and being a Nation. But the fault must also lie within Ourselves. And to change the Nation we *must* change ourselves within the limits of what each can do. So that we can put away idiotic partisan ideas that are putting us all at peril, and look forward as a People to Make a Nation that has Honor and Respect amongst all the People.

But that can only start with each of us as individuals. For if we cannot find it within ourselves and reach out to make a Nation, then the Nation shall surely fall.

As it was at the Founding, so it remains to this day.A Jacksonianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07607888697879327120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7370534.post-1163988911394861042006-11-19T18:15:00.000-08:002006-11-19T18:15:00.000-08:00AJ: Yes indeed. Perhaps like John Kerry, he was "for it before I was against it."

Whatever the fuck that means.

Corruption, taxes, corruption, taxes, more corruption, more taxes, more of the same and the same and the same.

Holy shit.

How much LONGER can we take this, AJ?

Not much longer are we slated to survive, I am thinking.

BZBloviating Zeppelinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01359816456769157176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7370534.post-1163986530593309922006-11-19T17:35:00.000-08:002006-11-19T17:35:00.000-08:00First Pelosi goes for Murth, the Abscam Man who co...First Pelosi goes for Murth, the Abscam Man who could find all sorts of fun ways to get money into his 'district' for 'favors', and who really wanted an open ended commitment... in Haiti.

Then it was Hastings, impeached for blowing a Federal Wiretap the good judge was overseeing by letting a friend know that a friend of his was *hot*... as in watched by the Feds. Well, the good judge would know since that was the case being overseen by said Judge Hastings. Impeached in the House by 413-3 and then thrown out of office by the Senate... even such luminaries as Ted Kennedy, JF Kerry and, if memory serves, Robert Byrd all voted to get the Judge out of office.

Now she has Charlie Rangel who just loves the idea of the draft so much that he will propose it *again*. Yes, he loves the idea of 'compulsory service' for young adults! Even after he voted against it in 2004 after advocating it then... but now its 'really, really a good idea'.

How soon until the Taxman shows up?

Remember, this is the Party that tried to make something of the culture of corruption of the Republicans... forgetting to tell of their OWN corruption and just looking past same and their great love of coercion on conscription.

Corruption, taxes, compulsory service... what part of Big Government Taking Over Your Life is there *not* to like in this? Nannystate... do as you are told, plebes, because it is good for you.

Hate that from the Left or the Right. They can both take this Big Government thing and drop it back in the 20th century where it belongs... with Fascism and Communism. Big Government telling YOU what to do...

We really, really have to let go of the 20th century now... or it will drag us down with it.A Jacksonianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07607888697879327120noreply@blogger.com
