Bloviating Zeppelin: Time Off and Time Out

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Time Off and Time Out

I will be in class in San Diego this week; next week I will be handling some personal issues and then, the following week, I'll be taking a much-needed actual vacation.

My posting will be infrequent until the first week of June; I have not gone away. I just need some space, time off and time out.

Take care everyone; value your friends, your spouses, and those you love.

BZ: Take care and I am sending you and yours some good vibes:) I have sorta taken a break from posting myself, so we all have issues to attend to. Enjoy your vacation:)

Thank you most kindly! It's summer and there are people to attend to and places to go! I haven't had a vacation for two years now, and I am eagerly anticipating this time.

I also think, when I return, I am going to spruce up the ol' BZ website -- I think it's time.

Blo,
Great decision and I can totally relate. I have gotten so much done for my family since I stopped blogging. Also, I haven't gotten a lot done with the support group, but it just kind of turned out that way.

Anyway, it will be good for you to 'get away' and get some issues resolved in your life as well as a GREAT VACATION this summer..

P.S.
Did you buy the Honda??

Rebecca: no, didn't buy the car, I just paid off the Subaru and I'm waiting for a few more paychecks so I can put more cash down for the car besides the trade-in. But I'm essentially sold -- I think it'll be the Honda Civic for sure -- whatever the upgraded model is -- LX? I'll have to check.

Also, I drove a rental 2006 Toyota Corolla recently for 4 days so that I can compare the two. With a 3-speed automatic and my foot heavily in the throttle up and down I-5 (80 + mph), with air conditioning activated, I averaged about 35 MPG. That's not EPA stuff, that's witnessed MPG. Quite decent, actually.

The drawbacks? My honey thought the passenger seat killed her after about two hours. The seat bottom tilted her knees up too high, giving her back problems. Also, the new Corollas are taller than past versions and, in high wind, they have a tendency to drift in the lane. You must hang onto the wheel and make small corrective input; the steering is full-time power and very sensitive to input. For the driver, I found the seats comfy, the mpg good, and the car tachs at 3,000 at 72 mph, providing the better mpg. Good space inside, fairly roomy trunk, nice dash amenities, interior gas and trunk releases, two console cupholders, spacious sightline from the driver's seat, easy to back up, semi-touchy throttle, good and linear brakes, when tromped sounds like it's going faster than it is. Fairly quiet inside.

Dislikes: pretty squirrelly in the wind; passenger may not care for the seat; sensitive steering; make sure you adjust the rearview mirror properly or putting down the visor will smack it out of alignment every time. Lackluster engine hustle.

Likes: good mpg for an automatic; nice amenities for the price; relatively quiet; easy to see out of; good and predictable brakes.

I'm still gonna opt for the Honda, I do believe.
