Bloviating Zeppelin: What Has Happened To My Country?

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

What Has Happened To My Country?

I woke up this morning and asked: what has happened to my country?

It used to be that we believed we were correct in our thoughts.

It used to be that our people believed in "innocent until proven guilty."

It used to be that we could count on our Press to provide the truth and not papers filled with what amounts to one continual Editorial section.
It used to be that politicians, no matter the side, could agree on one thing: America first, and American interests first.
And it used to be that our people would believe in the good of our soldiers and support them and their causes when it came to the US and foreign powers.
So I again ask: what happened to my country?
Where has it gone?
Some mornings I wake up and do not recognize my nation, my politicians and my countrymen.
Where has my country gone?

I woke up to this strange nation some years ago... I have obviously fallen into an alternate world scenario. You see the folks in the future kept on sending people back to avert trouble now... look at our history of close-calls and battles that could go one way or another and you get the idea that someone *was* helping us from the future.

I believe they made a mistake and that future disappeared.

That Nation I grew up in and learned to admire appears to be gone, now... I think the year 1968 was a turning point... although 1974 looks pretty choice... 1632 was a definite fubar...

My bet is on '68-'74. The people who think these were 'the way it should always be' are the problem.

The Ingrate Generation is how I term them for what they have done and how they act. And now we are reaping what they did sow...

I really, really want to get back to that *real* United States. You know, the one that is a Republic still? I am way out of place in this alternate model.

It is sad to think, AJ, that my father's generation, the Greatest Generation, could be the Last Best Generation.

For the love of their children, the GG spoiled them and begat the Baby Boomers.

The BB came to term and begat their own spoiled, inattentive, independently-raised, soccer'ed, self-centered entitled generation, which begat all subsequent generations concerned with no more than self-esteem.

And they were the lucky ones. Mostly we begat child parents, knowing nothing about nor caring about children, raising children -- that is, when a father even deigned to show his face in the house or in the child's life.

BZ, our country is still here, it's the people who have changed. Patriots like you and I are a dying breed. America is losing her soul. Can she be saved?

God, I hope so, but I don't know how, unless we turn back to God and reinstate the principles that America was founded on. We need to return to the Constitution as it was written, not as how it has been interpreted. If we do this, perhaps America will survive.

I'm sorry to be negative but for a moment I succumbed. Sometimes I wake up and feel absolutely overwhelmed by the present and fearful for our future.

Not just fearful in terms of "oh, we won't have the House and the Senate anymore" but fearful in terms of my retirement, my taxes, will I have a home, will I be able to take a vacation in two years, will I even be able to walk my streets safely when I'm 70, will I be able afford another car and -- in a few years -- what kind of a target will my country be if another regime takes the White House, when will the Homicide Bombers succeed and come to our shores, when will be MANDATING the teaching of Islam in our schools, when will we have NAMBLA representatives giving presentations in kindergarten, and when will be finally drive our Big Business to other countries?

All too negative.

I have to say that, in my three score and ten plus, I never saw a time when our Press was filled with truth rather than one continual Editorial Section. ( I speak as one who wrote some of the crap that was called news). Even the agreement on America First and American interests first has been a little tenuous (See the Yalta conference) and the thrust for the U.N. in the forties and fifties. I do however shudder with you at Nambla in the schools the mandate of teaching Islam (where Christianity will still be prohibited) and with Political Correctness at its ultimate.

BZ,

I have a solution, and it's in my book (I hate to sound like a salesman here). But I think it's something we may have to all consider.
