(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Requiescat in pace

A friend of mine passed away in an automobile accident. I received the phone call late last night. He was a fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn. He would like this:

From SRV's "The Sky Is Crying" album:

Life By The Drop
Hello there, my old friend,
Not so long ago it was 'till the end
We played outside in the pouring rain,
On our way up the road we started over again.
You're livin' a dream,
Whoa, you on top
My mind is achin',
Lord it won't stop
That's how it happens,
Livin' life by the drop.
Up and down that road in our worn out shoes,
Talkin' 'bout good things and singin' the blues
You went your way, I stayed behind
We both knew it was just a matter of time
You're livin' a dream,
Whoa, you on top
My mind is achin',
Lord it won't stop
That's how it happens,
Livin' life by the drop.
No wasted time, we're alive today
Churnin' up the past, there's no easier way
Time's been between us, a means to an end
God it's good to be here walkin' together my friend.
You're livin' a dream,
Whoa, you on top
My mind is achin',
Lord it won't stop
That's how it happens,
Livin' life by the drop.
That's how it happens, livin' life by the drop
That's how it happens, livin' life by the drop.

Find rest and rest well, Mr. Z. And heft one to give fair remembrance for a dear freind lost and mourn the loss of him for the world and yourself.

So long as you live, he will be with you, even when gone.

I'm sorry for your loss, BZ. It's always hard to take.

My daughter, at the age of 13, lost her best friend to cancer. Two years later, another best friend to a car accident, and then another friend to cancer a year later. All those people were members of the same family. It was hard on her, but even harder on the family. She at least had the satisfaction of knowing that they knew she loved them. You make a very valid point.

...and I'm certain your friend knew you loved him too.

All of us live life by the drop.

Thank you all. Chuck was the proverbial Wild Card and he knew it. But you know: he wouldn't have had it, or lived it, any other way. And I likely wouldn't have enjoyed his company as much when we were younger.
