Bloviating Zeppelin: Is It The Economy, Stupid?

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Is It The Economy, Stupid?

My ass has been up past my shoulders in alligators, anacondas and reticulated pythons at work. Ever have one of those weeks? This is mine.

In the meantime, the race is on and the Republicans are losing, the Democrats are winning, the Democrats are kicking our butts, no they're not, yes they are, look at this poll, look at that poll. And the economy, Omigod, the economy is absolutely crashing and has been crashing under the Evil Dictator Bush.

Actually, no it's not.

Many people, and certainly most Demoncats, er, Democrats, agree readily that the finest economy ever experienced by this nation was under the Clinton Administration -- finer than at any time in American history (do you see where my tongue is placed?).

And yet, despite that, please compare the finest economy ever in the history of the United States with that of the Evil Dictator Bush.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew at an average of roughly 3.7% under Clinton. Anything over 3% is considered good, and anything 4% or above is considered excellent. Under EDB, the economy is just about where it was during the best of the Clinton years. And that despite two massive events: first, the bursting of the stock market when most every "dot.com" you can think of tanked. Then, of course, 9/11/2001. That one day was responsible for almost the near-collapse of our entire domestic commercial air industry. Everything took a hit; many people curled into the fetal position and spending came to a lurching halt.

What about unemployment? What about that most heinous of accusations: "It's a jobless economy!" Really? Look above.

Note the hit right around -- you guessed it, 9/11. Things peaked at around 6.0 in 2003, and the unemployment rate now is just above 4%. That's a hair above the finest unemployment level during the president with the most ethical administration ever.

What about inflation? During the most stellar administration ever, inflation got down to around 1.6% in 1998. Frankly, darned decent. But also recall that President Bush stepped into a recession that he acquired from -- guess who?

So, I would posit: it IS terrorism; it IS immigration. But it is ALSO the economy and, clearly, it's NOTHING like what is portrayed in the DEM: the Defeatist, Elitist Media.

In Fornicalia, what's the first thing the Democratic candidate, Phil Angelides, would do? Raise billions of dollars in taxes. Our onerous registrations fees would reoccur. And more. He's said precisely that; it's no secret.

What do you think will occur under a Democratic House, Senate and Presidency? Will they continue tax cuts? Or will taxes increase? Will the military increase, or will it be cut? Will the mantra of "either we attack Islamists on their shores or we'll fight on our shores" continue? Or will we abandon Iran and encourage another Khmer Rouge where millions more will die?

Is it the economy? It is; and more.

I shudder to think what the Dems would do if they get a majority in Congress. Icky! They might raise taxes and put more money into social programmes, tax the upper middle class at higher rates and try to pull out of the Middle East, or apply pressure to the President to do so. Unfortunately their strategies are oft mired in a fundamental misunderstanding of global politics. I recall seeing Moonbat Pelosi talking about Iraq and Afghanistan and how the two weren't related. What an absurd point of view!!! I hate to think what ridiculousness they would embroil us in, if elected...

Uh, BZ, other than the picture of that terrifying snake, this is a most excellent post!

The DOW is at an all time high, unemployment is down, we don't pay as much in taxes, etc. Everything you listed is the truth, but the Dems keep being Dems; whining, moaning, groaning defeatists, just as you say.

We know what will happen if the Democrats ever get back in control, don't we? It's not what I want for my future and the future of my children and grandchildren. Nope. It won't be America any more, and the damage the Dems did while they were in power has taken it's toll. We are still fighting to crawl out from under. Even if we retain control, it's going to be a long and hard fight, and it's going to be uphill - excuse me - it's going to be like climbing Mount Everest every step of the way!

Dealing with the Evil Empire of Verizon after being left in the wilderness without so much as a 'watch that next step, its a doozy' from MCI, and fighting the sloth Creature of Covad. With a bit of luck the Linksys/Cisco folks will offer some surcease and I will *finally* get back from near-line in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile the economy booms, the Left Gay Activists are seen as Authoritarian, Teddy Kennedy wanted to get the Soviets screw the '84 election, Mr. Calamity (he has *got* to be a supervillain) gets post-publication ethics and the Republicans finally reveal their super-secret weapon.

And the media response? Bad Administration! Only got two democracies started, one in the Middle East, handed over all of one Nation and the majority of another to the people we freed from tryanny, executed a war plan so good that there was nothing left of the government or military in either place, were unprepared for *that* and shame, shame on you for not rounding them all up and putting them in place again, and none of this was done absolutely perfectly!

My response: Uh-huh, just miracles is all. Never have so few done so much with so little to free so many and gotten so little appreciation for it. If Defeatocrats cannot figure out how to gain heaven on Earth instantaneously or at least offer something that keeps with the actual, real world, then I, for one, am ready to ask: just when did you convert to Islam and become a terrorist supporter?

Because they sure as hell have no connection to this world and anything like *stopping* is long term death in this struggle. Unless you *like* the idea of multiplying the problems in the Balkans a hundred fold and putting that into play from Sinai to India, the Empty Quarter to Russia. I don't think the *world* can survive that, and yet that is all I hear from the whiners. Give me a perfect plan and an enemy that will follow it! Then we can start talking.... grumble, grumble... time in near-line is not helping.

And who will I vote for... Satan or Cthulhu? How about 'No Confidence' in the two party system? That is going to be my write-in on the National side. Local stuff I will address, but these two parties hold zero for me at this point. I know both those Devils quite well, so it isn't even 'The Devil you know vice the one you Don't'. They are *both* evil... just which one will destroy you less fast is the question.

Mahndisa: guaranteed, should the Democrats win taxes will go up across the board, locally and nationally. That will be an absolute given. And it has YET to be PROVEN that one can tax oneself into any kind of prosperity whatsoever.

Gayle: the DEM has much to do with these truisms remaining unknown.

AJ: I "want" to fall into your category of simply opting out of the vote because of my fundamental Conservatism and how Bush has not met my standards for a true Conservative and has been, on occasions, the OPPOSITE of a true Conservative (and has never received his kudos for being a good Democrat in his own right); however I shall not fall into the third category because I have not found a viable third party, therefore I shall continue to 1. vote and 2. side with Conservatives over Liberals.

Chance: The next president of America regardless of whether he or she is a REpublican or DEmocrat will have to continue President Bush's political agenda because Bush set it up that way. Also, the Repulican Party will become just like the Democrats a non-white agenda first party and whites will have to take a second place to non-whites. Because Republicans and Democrats are chasing the non-white vote so non-whites will get a lot of things in their favor.

The economy is going to crash real bad I see a civil war in the future for America worse than the first civil war.

SAD HUH!

History has a way of repeating itself. Another Civil War is certainly not out of the question. I just pray it never does come to pass.

BZ, thank you for being wise enough to vote Republican. Those conservatives who withhold their votes because they are not happy with the current administration only bolster the votes of the Dems, and we know they will just run this country into the ground because that is what they do best. Bless you!

Chance: I feel that everyone knows that it is the current republicans conservative politicians like Bush and others who have run the country into the ground and America will never recuperate from it either. As a conservative myself I will say it again Gayle it does not matter if a Republican or Democrat gets elected that new president will have no choice but to continue president Bush's political policies things are going to get even worse and people are going to experience a bad economy. Gayle lets say we hope a Republican is elected president after BUsh just so my observations will be verified.

Mr. Z - I will be writing in "No Confidence" on my ballot.

I have NONE in the two party system nor the 'fringe' parties which are 'fringe' for a reason.

This President is a Big Government Conservative, and for that and not securing the borders and only wanting to start *that* on the sly, anyone who comes after him espousing the same can take a hike. That said, the Cthulhoid tendancies of the Democrats are absolutely awful... but making a pact with Satan still leaves one on an evil course. Satan or Cthulhu? Evil slowly or quickly?

I do not like these choices.

Can we fire the two parties and get some new ones?

AJ: let me be blunt. It's not gonna happen. So your choosing to sit out is one more vote for Pelosi and her ilk.
