Bloviating Zeppelin: Thanksgiving

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Thanksgiving

My fiance and I had a small dinner for ourselves at my cabin tonight. Instead of opting for turkey we stuffed lamb and cornish game hens with garlic, basil, lemons and almonds. We rubbed them with extra light olive oil and then grilled them on the barbeque.

I had lighted candles and the house was bathed in natural light. I started a fire and the logs warmed the air. The cabin smelled of various candles, some garlic and an XM radio channel played New Age in the background. The sun declined to the west, creating shadows and then darkness. My feral cat friends came for their own Thanksgiving feast and they received fresh pieces of game hen and lamb.

My Christmas tree was already set up and festooned with lights from the day before, in preparation for this night. I'd already wrapped some packages and set them next to the tree; packages for my fiance, my father and brother. My Holiday stuffed bears were also set out, and a new wreath adorned my front gate.

I am still alive and for that I am thankful.

Be close to your family and friends, and hold them close.

BWH: thank you so kindly, sir.

Gayle: I seem to have adopted, in addition to my own cat Mose, two feral cats, one of which I can now pet and he greets me with vocality and, finally, rubbing and purring.

Mahndisa: it was a great recipe. I haven't had game hens in a long time and thought they'd gone. I do a lot of my shopping at either Sam's Club or Costco and finally realized the game hens weren't in the open bins with other meats, they were in the freezer section with other frozen meats. Also, because I know you're kinda "in the area," I've found the best bargains for high-grade cuts like filet, New York, Top and Ribeye are at the Big Package stores like Costco or Sam's. I paid the same amount for one thick Ribeye at Raley's, as I paid for a trio of Ribeyes at my local Costco near work.

LMC: Thank you for the kudos on the pic! Oddly enough, it was the one time (because I'd been planning this day for a week for her!) that the fire lighted immediately, caught flame and then never relinquished its strength. It was great!

I hope you ALL had a wonderful day and night, and the blessings of the season continue to rain good things upon you and your families!

Rebecca: Thank you so kindly, that is precisely how this weekend was spent!

There is no such thing as "quality time."

There is only "time."
