Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Killing Conservative Communication

Trent Lott has entered the Fairness Doctrine arena by saying, essentially, that having an informed electorate is a death knell for the immigration bill; to wit:

Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

Talk radio is "running America." Per Trent Lott. Republican.

Which means, by the logical extension, that blogs are running America, as are various publications. More focused, it really means:

CONSERVATIVE talk radio is running America;
CONSERVATIVE blogs are running America;

Translated further, it means (not unlike McCain's early-on comments following the bill's initial introduction): shut the fuck up. You're interfering with my attempt and McCain's attempt to shove this bill down the electorate's throat.

That's what Trent Lott means.

Thanks Senator Lott. Thanks for helping to ensure that the return of the Fairness Doctrine (see my prior posts on the FD, here and here) is coming closer to reality (see this post on Broadcast Law Blog).

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Senate colleague Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., want to "fix" talk radio because of its conservative influence on America, according to Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla.

Appearing on John Ziegler's evening show on KFI 640 AM radio in Los Angeles, Inhofe reported hearing Clinton and Boxer discussing plans for a "legislative fix" and
confronting them about it. Inhofe told Ziegler he'd been walking to a vote "with two liberal gals" who were outraged over something a conservative radio talk show host had said, according to the Breitbart.tv recording.

So go ahead, Senator Lott. Trash conservative talk radio and conservative blogs -- your finger is pointing directly at me.

Just wait until you want support on an actual conservative issue you want promoted nationally, something you espouse and seek -- but you won't be able to rally that support, as you may have earlier, because your ridiculous comments managed to stifle talk radio and/or blogs due to the Democrats having pushed and passed a precise copy or a variant of the Fairness Doctrine. Then we'll see what kind of a "problem" that is.

You clearly can't see farther than a few inches from your face.

P.S.
Good news: Oregon Public Broadcasting has agreed to air the PBS-funded documentary "Islam vs. Islamists" next month. "Muslims Against Jihad" is being aired by Fox tomorrow night, 9 PM Eastern time, a second film made by these producers. Good news indeed for freedom of information and your federal tax dollars allegedly at work, stifled as best the CPB and PBS possibly could.

The people advocating this are fascist garbage. Kucinich, Boxer and the PIAPS? DhimmicRATS don't surprise me, but Trent Lott? He is a shameful disgrace.

The truth is that the phony and failing so-called liberal and progressive agenda is a sham and more people are waking up to it. The Left has a very weak argument that comes across even worse on the radio, and people just end up changing the channel.

No one is stopping George Soros from pumping millions into a money-losing Air America and keeping it going forever. But it is just such a bad business model that apparently even Leftie Moonbat Soros can't stand donating endless drops of his bucket to it.

Uspace: true, we would have expected this from most everyone but Lott and the GOP side. I'm unsure where this is going as of yet, but it appears to be building momentum -- and because the Democrats can't fight in a ring where the odds are even, in a free market. If their ideas were so wonderful, if the market was there, if the audience was there, if they could manage the business angle, they'd be kicking Conservative ass all over the spectrum. But they're not. That's because it's STILL a free market.

Talk radio is not going to shut up and neither are we bloggers, so Trent Lott is out of luck! I can't understand why any Republican would support this horrible bill, BZ. I'm almost ready to believe that the entire thing is simply a stalling tactic. While they argue over it nothing gets done, which seems to suit both sides just fine. *sigh*

Vietnam redefined the Democratic Party and took it from being a collection of populists, both liberal and conservative, and drove out the conservatives making it a party of left wing elitists.

Now immigration may redefine the GOP, by the reverse process, driving out the elitists, who now feel their power threatened.

Ah, yes, the Party of Incumbistan does know that we poor Electistanians just get 'confused' when we are given more than one thought at a time. I am sure that their Elite Servants can whistle up a new thought policy for Electistan very quickly, know that they see how confusing it is for the poor beings in Electistan to have more than one thought or even one thought in their heads.

I did a review of Muslims Against Jihad that aired on Fox News Sunday night.

Trent Lott has never been my favorite senator but his betrayal of conservatives by trashing talk radio is beyond the pale.
