(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Our Friends, The Mexicans

From Fox News:

Whether he was up to no good or simply desperate to play BrickBreaker, a Mexican press attaché was caught on camera by Secret Service pocketing several White House BlackBerries during a recent meeting in New Orleans, FOX News has learned.

Sources said Quintero Curiel made it all the way to the airport before Secret Service officers caught up with him. He initially denied taking the devices, but after agents showed him the DVD, Quintero Curiel said it was purely accidental, gave them back, claimed diplomatic immunity and left New Orleans with the Mexican delegation.

Here's what will happen in terms of discipline: nothing. Who runs Mexico? La Mordida. Five families. The drug cartels. For whom were these BlackBerrys gathered? What was to occur with the information collected? How corrupt is the Mexican government? Rife.

Folks, I think you can do the math on this one. How many times must we be slapped by Mexico before we stop turning both of our "other cheeks"?

How many times will some of your readers bend over and let Bush pop em in the ass??

That's not just a crass analogy, it's the Bush Bot supporters, and their narrow mentality that keep the little bastard encouraged and believing that he's doing everything right, and WE know he's not...

I took a broader look at NAFTA and Mexico and it is even more disturbing than the cartels. The cartels were set up in the 1990's to mimic their Colombian counter-parts and serve as an organizing system for control of product and distribution. What has happened is that the local gangs have gotten an influx of money and weapons during the period of 1999-2003 and are now tearing up the cartels. That money, which used to come from FARC, is now flowing in from some of the Far East drug trade and from the Mid-East and African trade, along with the slowly decentralizing S. American trade. South America has shifted from cartels to gangs and kingpins, and have become harder to stop due to the lack of central organizing effort. Money, in Mexico, is starting to flow in from the Middle East (al Qaeda, Hezbollah, HAMAS) and Russia (most likely the organizations involved with the oil/gas oligarchs). Add in the overseas human smuggling trade (with individuals from Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Iraq and Iran involved) going through the Albanian/Algerian connection networks for the Americas and you get a really nasty brew of things going on.

Would that it was only cartels, not warlords with dedicated gangs of unemployed to do their bidding. The chain of how they *got* such readily available individuals is directly linked *to* NAFTA: the shift in the agricultural sector was stark as US mechanized agribusiness outcompeted local Mexican farmers. Farming was, unfortunately, the stable part of Mexico and offered a first rung in a ladder out of poverty. Those displaced individuals headed north to factories and the US... until the industries moved to China, Philippines, etc. thus making those folks on the border factories have to seek other work. They needed to send money back and could do so as food was cheap... which ended when the US went ethanol crazy and the price of corn skyrocketed in Mexico. Suddenly decent paying jobs left you without food on the table. And as the US has a ready market for illegal drugs and has an affluent population that can pay for that recreational experience... well... crime is relatively low risk compared to certain, slow starvation.

Then the opportunist money flows in to get weapons, terrorism, and a foothold into getting control of the Mexican gas and oil resources. I give very high marks to the group around Semion Mogilevich and Dmitry Firtash: they have outlook that is trumping that of any economist in the West. That organization is facing down Gazprom, Putin and, currently, Iran. And every step Russia has tried to go *around* them has failed for nearly a decade, if not to the very end of the USSR.

Thank you to the Republican party, Bill Clinton and the Democratic party! We couldn't have gotten the Red Mafia into Mexico without you!
