Bloviating Zeppelin: The Left Go Right

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

The Left Go Right

Well, sort of.

Wired magazine recently featured an article that fessed to a number of enviro-items that won't sit well with the Religious Left -- you know, the persons who hate belief systems yet don't mind creating their own religion predicated upon feelings, thoughts, emotions and concrete-facts-be-damned?

In their May 19th article, "Inconvenient Truths: Get Ready to Rethink What It Means to Be Green," some of the ten heresies of "Global Warming" include:

Are we actually beginning to see just a molecule of common sense from the Left -- ?

. . . albeit, not the holy-rolling, Gore-Bible-thumping, snake-dancing Religious Left. . .

P.S.

I conducted my own recent investigation into a new car which just recently hit our shores, and marketed adjacent various Audi or VW dealers: the smart fortwo car. I visited my local dealer on Arden Way in Sacramento (the smartcentersacramento), and made some discoveries that should be related to my readers right now -- revelations I shall cover in a later detailed post. Overall, while potential purchasers of the smart fortwo think they're helping the environment by purchasing such a small car, they should be aware of the actual realities of this vehicle.

For example, if the motivation for purchase is MPG, then one should realize that, at best, it achieves 35 MPG. This number is equaled or bettered by any number of other larger cars, to include the current Civic, Prius, Mini Cooper, Versa, Fit or Yaris. It also requires premium unleaded -- a fact purposely hidden by the manufacturer. And because of the smart fortwo's high-revving engine, the 2008 Corvette acquires a better highway MPG.

It's all about E-MO-TIONS vs. FACTS.

The Left always loves to tout how effective government is in doing things! Always point to the Atomic bomb and Lunar landings... after that things get sparse, and those two were engineering accomplishments in hard engineering, not societal accomplishments. But those are still used to press onwards with Social Security, Medicair, Health Insurance, and the wars on Poverty, Cancer, and who can remember what else.

The first two succeeded due to engineering.

The next few failed due to lack of understanding about economics and demographics, and the final few are problems which are not 'final solution' problems but a cascade of effects that cannot have one single causal factor.

When you look at engineering a big project, even then government doesn't do so hot as witness the rest of the abysmal space program... take any 20 years of aircraft development and compare it with any 20 years of space development, and both are hostile environments if you ask any pilot suddenly finding an engine missing in mid-flight. On these multi-causal factors we have always depended upon ourselves, not government, as we tend to be smarter as the People than government ever can be as Politicians. If we have 'the wisdom of crowds' then there is a 'stupidity of elected office' that points to wanting those people to have very few things to do...

Greens have always wanted the 'top down' no matter how much they 'think global, act local' that has always been about politics... if they had bothered to 'think local' and read works on energy production and how manufacturing actually works, we would be light years ahead of where we are today with people committed to multiple ways of finding a better life for everyone while making a profit.

Instead it is 'mandate' this and 'control' that and 'you shouldn't do' the other... the word for people who demand control over everything from the highest level? Authoritarians. Now, when the political stupidity is finally kicking the 'Green movement' in the crotch, do they finally start to wake up.

Pain can do that to you.

If you want to 'think local' it is best not to repeat everyone else's views and do some of that thing called 'reading and thinking'. Helps loads... and lets you know that the power to change things is within YOU not government or any elected politician. Those latter tend to get in the way, actually. Look at the space program for that.

AJ: so very true. Government is, as I am wont to frequently write, is as efficacious, courteous and thrifty as one' local DMV.

I daresay there aren't any pilots outside the space program who would remotely consider stepping foot into any vehicle as aged, dated and creaky as a space shuttle tasked with a profile as critical to equipment. Certainly our B-52Gs are geriatric but they are being, airframe by airframe, placed aside into Arizona. And their environment isn't quite so critical.

In any event the Religious Left aren't out or even down; they're simply being occasionally refuted in print -- the MSM is still attached to their conestoga wagons like dumb oxen.

Most peoples' beliefs involve a lot of contradictions, but the left seems to be made out of them.

The truly efficient Smart is the one with the 2cyl diesel but you cant get that in the US because of emmisions. Add to that the fact that all the airbags and side impact reqs add about 200lbs and $1000 to the car and our safety and emmisions standards are part of the problem. Then add about 150 lbs because God forbid that we drive around with rubber floor coverings rather than carpet, manual windows (remember those?) instead of electric ones,AM/FM with 2 speakers instead of a 15 speaker, 25 cd changer stereo, 5mph bumbers that dont do anything except add weight and cost more.

That last sentence in the article "Don't buy That New Prius!" made me laugh: "...but nobody said saving the planet would be comfortable, or even safe." The car they reccommend doesn't even have air bags. Is it their intention to kill us off to save the planet?

I think I'll keep my Lincoln Town Car and the Dodge Ram 4x4 for as long as I can, unless these green people start shooting at me. The car in the picture reminds me of an electric razor, BZ. If I'm ever involved in an accident at least I have a better chance of surviving it.

As for the government's efficiency, they would be far more efficient if they would stick to the job they were created for. As Hannity said yesterday on "Hannity's America": "The government's job is to protect us and leave us alone."
