Bloviating Zeppelin: When You ENGAGE:

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

When You ENGAGE:

You do better.

McCain limp-wristed the last debate; most Conservatives would readily acknowledge that as fact. However, since then, his advertisements and his townhall meetings and stump speeches have been more adversarial. As have been those of Sarah Palin.

I've made it no secret, here on Bloviating Zeppelin, that I'll vote for the McCain/Palin ticket simply because I will in no way countenance or be remotely responsible for an Obama/Biden win. I'll not stay home on election day (a figure of speech anyway, as I've already marked my absentee ballot -- as I receive one every election), I'll not "write in" some other minimal person whose philosophy may more mirror mine but is, realistically, entirely unelectable, nor will I vote for Obama simply because I want "change" -- whatever that word connotes.

Having written as much, is it remarkable that the AP indicates:
ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Republican John McCain vowed Sunday to "whip" Democratic rival Barack Obama's "you-know what" when the two presidential candidates meet Wednesday in their final televised debate.
Gallup Daily: Obama-McCain Gap Narrows
Obama leads, 50% to 43%
ZOGBY MONDAY: OBAMA 48%, MCCAIN 44%... DEVELOPING...
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attacked Barack Obama on abortion on Saturday, saying the Democratic presidential candidate has "left behind even the middle ground on the issue of life."
And John McCain already predicted dire circumstances, back in 2006, in the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac issue:
Sen. John McCain's 2006 demand for regulatory action on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could have prevented current financial crisis, as HUMAN EVENTS learned from the letter shown in full text below.
So what's the common thread throughout most of these notations?

This one fact: that the McCain/Palin campaign is engaging; I can't quite place its response into the "fighting back" territory -- but I will go so far as to allow "upscale engagement."

As it was with Bush, so it is with McCain and any other Republican or GOP representative:

When you engage, when you take the fight back to your accusers, when you STAND UP ON YOUR OWN TWO FEET:

Guess what?

People listen.

Well I am seriously pissed off as is most of the nation I hope... I..Like you will vote for McCain, because of the reasons you mention. I will also hope that after the election McCain somehow becomes enlightened goes back on his "Socialist tendencies" I hope he is using it to gain votes and only pandering to the Hillary supporters... We can hope.

Either way BZ, we are screwed, I believe most folks that are NOT voting for McCain and are Conservative are doing so in order to set their:
"Well You Voted for him" arguments in case he wins...And if McCain loses it will be because of THOSE folks IMO. Not that I give a shit either way anymore, I am not voting for Obama by giving my vote away, or directly I will vote for McCain/Palin and HOPE for CHANGE in 2012...To A conservative leadership.

BARR sure the fuck isnt it.... I am going to start pushing for Hunter in 2012 NOW.

I still have faith in the McCain/Palin ticket. My prediction is that when they win, it will have more to do with Palin than McCain. I wonder how much reign she will have as VP? My guess is A LOT! I'll bet she will be the most engaged VP this country has ever seen. She's already the most battle-worn. Have you ever seen a VP attacked so much?

I like your optimism Average American, I do hope you are right.. NOT that I believe Sarah Palin is going to fix the mess McCain Obama and Biden ALL helped create... But in the hope that She will at least keep McCain from making a few BONEHEAD decisions that Bush has been famous for.

We need an all out brawl! I think McCain has a few moves to take Obama out. I think Obama will try to negotiate a truce for the fight began at which McCain could stab Obama with the pen to sign the treaty!

When I started writing my 'storm' articles last year, I could feel what was coming. I looked at the deep criminal influence on banking and finances globally, and the connections of those organizations through their intermediaries, and often directly, to individuals high up in the two parties of the US. One concern not only actively works with Iran, but backs Red Mafia members and has gotten the help of JP Morgan, Chase Manhattan, Citibank, and others to join it in this... you see the same organizations showing up again and again in those financial deals. I looked at the international arms trade, the narcotics groups, the Families of Italy and Albania, and the deep ties to Hezbollah, al Qaeda, FARC, and their influences in South America, the Caribbean and on into North America.

I will vote for Sarah Palin: she is a fighter, a scrappy campaigner and an honorable politician.

Sen. McCain pulled off the tactical upset of picking her, and then frittered away everything that their campaign should have represented. A hard 'ground game' of sending Gov. Palin through the Rust Belt and Appalachia would not see those areas slipping from their sights. Sen. McCain cannot admit that some government regulation is just godawful and needs to be *ended*. Stepping into DC and saying: I am going to propose legislation to ABOLISH Fannie and Freddie, and call for criminal investigations of all those who PUSHED for insane lending practices to start.

Those would be 'maverick' ideas: grind out the culture of the D party in its home areas and strike out against bad government inflicting pain on the Nation.

Sen. McCain didn't do those things.

He has found the media he courted with his 'bi-partisan' ways turning on him and reporting only good about his opponent and casting asperations upon him. Bi-partisanship died in Somalia, Kosovo, Bosnia and NOT going after Saddam as Clinton and Gore had campaigned they would do. Sen. McCain signed up to the 'peace dividend' and then asks 'where are all the troops we need?' in 2003. Perhaps he forgot his giving political cover to cutting them in 1992-94?

Sen. Obama is a communist horror of the first rank for the US, although he falls short of Pol Pot and Stalin by a fair mark, he does hit up there with Chavez, Castro, and his friends from FARC. Nasty connections to criminal syndicates that have no good laid out for the US in the near future... Sen. Obama is bringing authoritarianism with a smiley face to it and the cute little mustache is all that is missing.

Sen. McCain fought for this Nation in Vietnam... Now he must fight for her HONOR and put his to the side and accept what comes from defending his country. If you laud the fighter pilot, then tell him its time to pull up, throw in the extra fuel and opening up with all guns and to HELL with his PERSONAL honor. This Nation is being dragged back into the dark times of racism by those who wish to use race to divide the Nation. That is a direct attack upon Abe Lincoln.

You cannot be *nice* in dragging that out into the spotlight for all to see.

You cannot be *nice* in pulling thsoe things aside and shoving them out so the light of day shines upon them.

It requires a workman-like attitude of: It is a damned dirty job and I am going to do it.

The ground game can still work, but time is nearly gone for it to be done.

What can work is going after the high, the mighty, the 'safe' interests that Sen. McCain has been 'bi-partisan' towards for decades and telling what he knows about them. He can say that he will go after EVERYONE who has attacked the Pentagon and, by golly, that includes the Weathermen and Bill Ayers who has no good in store for this Nation. He can drag out the banking interest of Obama, Dodd, Franks and rise to say: these men have betrayed the public trust and put our hard earned money at risk to those preying upon Americans. And he can come clean about his contacts with same and tell us of his problems and how they are TINY in comparison to those of the others, thus thwarting all counter attacks upon him.

And just let Gov. Palin RUN the way SHE WANTS TO.

I've pulled no punches to the point of getting Auchi pissed at me, and he can be that way as long as he likes in the UK. Step foot here and I will get a nice SLAPP suit ready for him. I've gained the notice of Monzer al-Kassar's daughter, and I can say that having someone close to him noticing me is not something that I enjoy knowing his capabilities and contacts.

So I've gotten the attention of the rich and powerful who reach to the gutters of humanity.

Its a good fight.

I wish there was a politician willing to do the same, but I will damned well vote against the FRIENDS of these destroyers who have no good will for America.

I'm voting for Gov. Palin. Hey, if that gets counted for McCain, then its due to the insane vote counting system here in VA, don't blame me. And if Sen. McCain can fight the good fight and turn on his 'friends' in DC, then he gets a last chance to convince me that he knows what the hell he is doing.

Because he hasn't so far.

I've had second thoughts regarding McCain's strategy, BZ, and have posted about it. He just might know what he's doing. After all, he's the politician, not me, thank goodness!

The other thing you get, besides people taking notice, is the left screaming "Foul! No Fair!" even when the tactics are the same as their own...

I'm starting to sense a "all is lost" thread through GOP-dom. And I fervently believe: all is NOT lost, not by a LONG shot. Gayle, I am thinking you might be right, but I'm not thinking immediately that, just because he's a Pol, McCain knows "all the right moves." I think he's flubbed a good percentile of the campaign but, as AA and AJ point out, Palin will have a very GOOD deal to do with McCain's success. In my opinion, he should have "unleashed" her from the start. People know she'll make mistakes, but, also in my opinion, that's what makes her "real" and lets us know that she is, in fact, The Real Deal and NOT another Beltway Moron.

This shindig is NOT over yet, boys and girls!

He can win this but not by just sitting back and doing nothing. If the American people knew the whole truth Obama would be facing a multi-million faced mob with torches and pitchforks.

I don't feel that all is lost but it is looking rather gloomy at the moment.

McCain can still win but his window is closing very fast. He needs to Blitz Obama in this next debate and provided economic conditions stabilize McCain has a real chance of winning. He also needs to unleash his supper weapon Sarah Palin.

You know if the folks in the R party knew that McCain would campaign with the fervor of Fred Thompson, they probably would have stuck with someone who knows how to campaign like Fred...

Gov. Palin is campaigning... apparently with or without the actual campaign. Someone has to the work there and I'm glad its her. I will vote for her: someone willing to do the dirty work of actually looking to get votes.
