(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

The benefits of using a TelePrompter:

-Staying on message.
-Fewer errors.
Consistency.
-Making sure everything that needs to be said gets said.
-There’s a record of what was said, no second guessing.

I have many salespeople give me presentations for one reason or another, (Obama is a salesperson selling a product), and most of them use a Power-Point to do their pitch. They read it to me word for word to get out what’s needs to get out.

I have no problem with him using a Teleprompter, in fact I think he’s smart to do so. The media business is a tough business and he needs to be careful when he speaks, even if we agree or not with what he says.

Ranando: Those are all valid points for the utilization of a Teleprompter. One abstract from a Teleprompter study reads:

"An empirical study examined politicians' use of public speaking teleprompters (PSTs) when delivering major addresses to determine if audiences made aware of this practice would more seriously question speaker credibility, sincerity, and communicative ability. After completing an initial survey about political attitudes and awareness, subjects, 36 undergraduates at a large midwestern university, were asked to watch three 30-second video clips of George Bush's 1988 nomination acceptance address: one clip showed only face and upper torso; another clip revealed PST plates from the front, and the third clip presented the PST platter from behind, allowing the subjects to watch the text scroll upward as Bush read it. After each clip the subjects were asked to fill out an instrument measuring perceptions of speaker skill, credibility, and means of delivery. Then the subjects were told about PSTs and were asked to fill out a final questionnaire, asking for their attitudes about PSTs and their past cognizance of them. Results revealed that subjects' reservations about the teleprompter did not significantly undermine ratings of speaker competence and credibility during subject exposure to obviously teleprompted oratorical displays. Greater concern surfaced after an informational lecture on the system. Findings suggest that greater exposure of the PST could lead to more serious questioning of oratorical ethics and leadership. When unseen, PSTs conceal the large degree to which public officials now depend on ghostwriters. (Eighteen references and one appendix including survey questions and results are attached.)"

It's fun to rag on Obama because he uses them in arenas when he need not; I suspect this is not from lack of knowledge in a given area but a lack of confidence in extemporaneous speaking at that level. With he or anyone else, when I'm watching a "tennis match" head, I know they're using such a device.

You and I BOTH know people, stellar people, who can think on their feet like NO ONE else. I know two such people, immediately. They have rapier-like minds that can shred arguments and back-arguments in "real time." They "think on their feet." Mr Obama is not one of those persons, however. . .

TOTUS has pet gear too. LOL.

Referring to Ranando's statement (
I have no problem with him using a Teleprompter, in fact I think he’s smart to do so
....I'd go along with that -- EXCEPT that BHO does so very poorly without a teleprompter.

Will he have a teleprompter when he meets with foreign officials to discuss international policy?

I use to think Obama was a great snake-oil salesman, but recently have come to see that he is nothing without TOTUS. A good salesman must have the ability to think on his feet and quickly over come any objections the customer may throw at him---Obama does not have these qualities. To put it simply, he must wait on his handlers to provide him the answers via TOTUS. Reading a sales pitch and giving a sales pitch are two totally different things. Most can read, but few can give the right reponse off the cuff. Thats why great salesman are valued and in short supply---Obama is not one, he is a total fake.
