Bloviating Zeppelin: Newt Gingrich in 2012?

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Newt Gingrich in 2012?

The Associated Press writes today:

Gingrich describes his role (in politics) this way: "I'm a citizen leader who's also a Republican." Asked whether he will make the transition from citizen to candidate, Gingrich gives an impish grin.

"We'll see," he said.

I'm already sorry that Mr Gingrich didn't take the RNC Chairmanship. Mr Steele has disabused me of his own tenure.

2012 isn't that far away, ladies and gentlemen.

Thoughts?

For years I was a huge Newt fan. He lost me when he picked up the mantle of global warming. I've noticed that he changes his tune when he needs to sell a book - which he did with John Kerry on the environment.

He refused to call a issue what it was during the election, although he was critical of Obama. He couldn't bring himself to use the word "socialism" then. Now he uses it often and it's just a bit late.

I think he is a great thinker. I'm always interested in what he has to say, and I usually agree with him, but I am no longer shocked when he supports some tenants of liberalism. He has become a loose canon in my opinion.

Yes, I think he would have been good as RNC chair, unless he decided it ungentlemanly to refuse to reach across the aisle, or to shoot a fist across the aisle at times.

Newt?? Just another RINO in my opinion... A leftover pretty much has been...

Maggie hit it on the head... Loose cannon and very unpredictable...

Beats hell out of Sarah Palin though, not in looks mind you, but damn, if I had to hear another election cycle of Northwoods Barbie, I think I'd use the XD for *other* purposes, ya know, by golly, you betcha ya do, now don'tcha...

I was another Newt fan, and was pretty ticked when the previous administration threw him under the bus.

However, since then, as Maggie pointed out, getting on that global warming scam trolly (didn't want to use bus again), just pretty much did it for me.

I'll have to differ with Fred on Sarah Palin. I like her. She seems to be a genuine person and a true conservative. And, it seems that true conservatives don't often run for office. I sure as heck wouldn't want to be elected anything, and have to deal with all those other elected scumbags.

She seemed like a genuine airhead a lot of the time, and all that *folksy* talking bullshit was just disgusting...

Seriously, she would have been an embarrassment in the international theater, we are assumed to be what our leaders present and she brought Northwoods Barbie to the table...

She may be one of the very best, possibly the most Conservative of the herd, but if she doesn't get herself a new speech pattern, she is going to fail again, if she gets a chance at round 2...

I like Newt, but he has his issues and I was glad he didn't run in 08, there is no way he should run in 2012. He needs to continue doing what he's doing now. He is a great advocate for the conservative movement.

in my opinion, newt is a huge driving force of this party. as a thinker he is amazing, but he just doesn't have that popularity and that "mouth of the south" style of politics. I hate to say it, people won't vote for the most qualified and smartest person for the job ( which is obvious in obamas case). instead they vote on who they "like" better based on emotion and not logic. so newt wouldn't be a good choice in that case.

I have to disagree with you Texas!!
(and I must say usually we are on the same page)
Sarah was horribly misused by the McCain Camp. Between That and the MSM camps smearing her every day America has no idea what a wonderful leader they missed out on.
Personally I had a little fantasy of Sarah taking Putin, Chavez and Pelosi out on a "Hunting Trip" in Alaska and only Sarah returning.....

I am not sure. Newt has turned me off with some stuff he has said in the past. I am thinking he is your typical establishment politician and I am tired of them.

I want an unjaded newbie like Palin or joe the plumber. I am serious when I say that. I am tired of all the lawyers and politicians running this country.

Shoot, I would vote for you or Dee if you guys ran. I'm serious. I would rather have BZ as prez than any of the washington crop we have now. NO JOKE.

I could do with less of him cozying up to Pelosi.
But, he's smart, that's for sure, and understands this country than the whole obama admin all put together.

What DID happen to Michael Steele? Very disappointing......I'm so sad about that, I had great hopes.

OK, I am going to go on record right now, saying this about Sarah Palin, just like I did regarding John McCain, if Palin is the best the RNC can come up with, the RNC is SCREWED and we can expect to have Dems in power for a lot longer!!

Just MY opinion... And if she were to turn out to be the one selected, if there aren't some serious changes in her demeanor, I will again vote for a viable 3rd party candidate... It's that simple, I will NEVER again vote the lesser of the evils... EVER!!

My thoughts on Newtie ( as his Mom affectionately called him!) is about the same as most here. RINO in many ways. I was once on his bandwagen, til he threw a huge wet blanket on the excited & exciting crop of winers in the '94 midterms. That really steamed me & I have been cool on him ever since, pun intended, but not really well-done! OK, I'm outta here! God Bless you BZ.
