(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

C02: Cap & Trade, YOU'RE Next

The US EPA declared on April 17th of this year that carbon dioxide (C02) is a dangerous pollutant. That sole declaration will allow the EPA to regulate carbon dioxide emissions under existing pollution laws without the passage of new legislation. However, Cap & Tax just passed the US House last week. A similar bill was the beginning of the end in Fornicalia (as Congressman Tom McClintock pointed out), just as it would be with a federal bill.

Further, it would appear the EPA is purposely suppressing a report by one of its own staffers that is not in keeping with The Religious Left. From FoxNews:

The 98-page report, co-authored by EPA analyst Alan Carlin, pushed back on the prospect of regulating gases like carbon dioxide as a way to reduce global warming. Carlin's report argued that the information the EPA was using was out of date, and that even as atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have increased, global temperatures have declined.

According to internal e-mails that have been made public by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, Carlin's boss told him in March that his material would not be incorporated into a broader EPA finding and ordered Carlin to stop working on the climate change issue. The draft EPA finding released in April lists six greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, that the EPA says threaten public health and welfare.

But, of course, no agendas are running with Mr Obama or his Administration.

With that in mind, I would ask my readers to push the envelope like a good Obama Tax Miner and do what I call the Logical Extension:

If C02 is a dangerous pollutant; if Cap & Tax needs to be implemented immediately as punishment for businesses, then it would make sense that those personally responsible for their own personal C02 emissions -- American taxpayers -- could and should be taxed additionally.

As Lonnie Schubert points out in American Thinker, carbon dioxide isn't a pollutant, it's simply mandatory for the survival of the chain of life on the planet -- quite the opposite of a pollutant.

But if you want an additional revenue and a tax source, what better thing to do than to go after each individual as liable for the environmental harm -- and tax them accordingly? With Congress, of course, being exempt.

You think this couldn't happen?

BZ

P.S.
Senator Jim Inhofe (R, OK) has called for an investigation into the suppression of this EPA report.

The more I fart, the better I feel,
Eat some beans with EVERY meal!

EAT MORE BEANS!!!

If we stopped all the GAS that comes out of Obama and DC in general, we'd have a lot cleaner air...

Sorry to have been AWOL from here the past few days. My latest post explains that I've been checking out candidates in our local and state governments to see if there's any way to combat Cap & Trade below the federal level.

Useful to pass along to receptive state attorneys general:

carbon dioxide isn't a pollutant, it's simply mandatory for the survival of the chain of life on the planet -- quite the opposite of a pollutant

I am sure you know by now, but this cap and trade junk is going to require us to pass green standards before we can sell our home. So, I would imagine that someone from the govt. will come knocking on your door to make sure you have curly lightbulbs and weatherstripping and energy efficient windows and anything else THEY think YOU should have in your home BEFORE YOU ARE ALLOWED to sell it.

If anyone thinks Obama or his leftist cronies can't overturn Amendment 22 lengthening term limits, you aren't paying attention to the slow takeover. No one thought anything Obama has done so far could be done, but it has.

Rivka, there's some word that the obama thugocracy is actually working on term limits as we type. There is no END to this man's take over.
Have you been hearing a certain mantra? The Leftwingers must have got another memo because every lib talking head's mentioning something like the following phrases again and again: "we need to push forward" "we were elected to move things in a better direction" "We need to make progress"
It's as if it doesn't matter HOW AWFUL the legislation is, it MUST BE PASSED in the name of FORWARD, CHANGE!. (a la David Rasputin Axelrod)

BZ...super post and it's astonishing we even have to talk about this...
They are going to, as Rivka said, make it illegal to sell a house if there's a drip, or no GREEN garbage disposal.
The day they come take my powerful shower head away is the day they'll rue, I swear. DO NOT take away my powerful shower head!

GOOD FOR IMHOFE...even my Dem friends are worried and asking WHERE ARE THE REPUBLICANS TO FIGHT THIS CRAP?

Pay attention to Jim Demint, too...I hear his new book is exceptional..
He's begging bloggers to keep writing the truth...get people aware and CALL/WRITE, CALL/WRITE, etc etc!

Do remember that Sen. McCain also support C&T, and said that he couldn't understand how any conservative couldn't do so...

The Republican party has a deep problem... not that Obama is acting like a reckless spendthrift ready to spend your money until you don't have any... he is doing that. No, its that Republicans want to 'manage' that and expand government so as to spend your money until you don't have any. There is no difference in direction, just rate of speed.

I don't support the direction, at all.

To hell with the parties.

Thus I don't support the legislation and will even take the support of Kucinic who voted against it. When an uber liberal will vote against this POS, there ought to be some cover that can be given to Blue Dogs... but then that is working towards the end of not getting a bigger, more expansive government...

Can we get a political party that will support that?

No?

If not this country will pass through Iron Times and need to re-win liberty. That will not be pretty. Yet that is what the two parties are getting us.

But then I'm no 'conservative'.

Live free or die.

Either way is fine with me.

And that choice of being enslaved or living free is soon coming to us all...

AJ: a government that truly limits discussion and dissension thusly leaves only one option open: insurrection. I suspect that comprises at least a portion of Mr Obama's stance on the removal of the Honduras PRESIDENT from office by force.

Anything can be toxic in the wrong quantity, even water and Vitamin A. Reducing CO2 emissions is not just about climate change, but about energy independence. That itself is a worthy, indeed necessary, long term goal. Someone has to foot the bill.

Roger you do have a partial point but decemating coal and oil burning plants which power 80% of America before solar, wind and nuclear are in place is nothing but the destruction of America.Solar doesnt work at night, wind is not a constant. It will be at least 10 years before these are STARTED building let alone on line. In 10 years solar and wind will just be breaking ground. Nuclear will still be in licensing phase. Meawhile the price of electricity will skyrocket with the increased demand of plugin electric vehicles. What needs to be found in a far more efficient way of storing electrical energy.

Oh by the way the bit about man made climate change is BULLSHIT you just bought the bullshit line as more than half of the wol;rd climatologist now say we are in a cooling NATURAL cycle

I can put together a plan, not a goal, to get America to energy independence in 10 years. Cost: less than the Apollo program.

We now have a space venture capitalist community that needs incentives to reach LEO and Geostationary orbit, plus verifiable turn-around times with given payload sizes. That should be done through prize money, not taxes: pay for performance, not good wishes.

The future of energy is at its source, not screened by atmosphere, not limited by inclination of the planet, and without the burden of gravity to limit construction size... only orbital mechanics. Gerard K. O'Neill's group at Princeton went through the numbers in 1969-72 and costed such an effort out at far less than the then current Apollo program and returning energy plus space habitat with orbital factory within that same decade. At that point you are limited by lunar material delivery, rate of manufacture and number of habitats necessary to support same. By working to get the cost to orbit below $1,000/pound, now, we can get to that point in 10 years with MODERN remote operated vehicles and equipment AND human presence.

No amount of biofuel, fossil fuel, nuclear, wind, wave, geothermal... no amount of that is equal to what can be put up on the cheap in orbit. Investing, true investment by industry not fake investment by government, can do that. It will also start moving polluting industries OFF of planet Earth and into the vacuum of space and give the solar wind to get rid of detritus.

You want 'energy independence'?

The get government out of the space control business and put it into the transport purchase and energy encouragement realm. Take any 10 years of aircraft development in the 20th century and compare it to any 10 years of rocketry/space development. Both work with hostile, indeed, deadly environments and speed, both need engineering and ONE was heavily regulated and interefered with and the other WASN'T. Space is regulated and interfered with... in case the point was missed.

Energy independence?

What is the SOURCE of our terrestrial energy that runs the climate?

The SUN.

Where is its energy harvested the cheapest?

In SPACE.

I will support that.

And I don't need 'Hope & Change' to get there.

Roger: c'mon Dude, get real. This isn't about "saving the planet," it's about tapping a new fount of taxes from taxPAYERS.

If SOLAR was SUCH the deal, and saved SO much money, then solar would be EVERYwhere. It isn't. Solar panels turn fallow any dirt or earth beneath them. Makes that ground unuseable. Best place for solar? The desert? What do you know about MASSIVE farms of solar collectors? They need to be CLEAN. How do you CLEAN them? With WATER. Can't use brooms, dude. Can't STAND on the panels. Where are you going to get more mass quantities of WATER in the DESERT? One garden hose? And, as WMD points out: solar only works 60% of the day -- sorry, we haven't figured out how to make the sun shine at NIGHT!

WIND power? Really? How consistent is that? Power has to be available to the rate-paying public 24/7. It has to be CONSTANT and RELIABLE. Wind turbines are expensive, unreliable and INCONSISTENT. Additionally, the Greens state they kill birds in large quantities. And people don't want them located anywhere their homes. Eyesores.

Even in Altamont Pass in Fornicalia, where I live, the wind turbines -- even on a WINDY day -- NOT all the wind turbines move. And Altamont Pass has a rather consistent flow. 13,000 huge wind turbines in Fornicalia. ALL of that production equates to a measly ONE PERCENT of electrical production.

Tax tax tax tax tax, dude. Tax tax tax. ENOUGH!

AJ: hoo-rah!

Mr. Z - That plan has been freely available since 1972.

Says much that we could be energy independent NOW if we had just gotten out of the way THEN.

Now we pay with our liberty because those who want government to 'do good' have killed our ability to be energy independent without the 'help' of government.

To hell with them as they have consigned us to hell.

We are coming to the time where marching out will be required. Those who want government to 'help' will be the ones trying to keep us in hell... their day is over. The way out is forward and through. And ignore the path of good intentions that got us here in the first place.
