Bloviating Zeppelin: TEN DAYS

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

TEN DAYS

There are ten days left to save our nation.

Mr Obama is demanding that a vote be taken concerning ObamaKare by March 18th.

He may not have the votes.

Yet, in consideration of the various strongarm tactics revealed recently -- and purposely ignored by the DEM/MSM and tacitly set aside as white noise by the bulk of Americans because, after all, taxpayers are busy trying to make enough money to support federal, state and local governmental mandates -- he could acquire the minimal votes necessary under reconciliation, a nuclear attack if ever there was one.

On "talk radio" have you ever heard of "seminar callers"? They are the persons specifically telephoning Conservative radio programs who attempt to blend into other callers with the very focused purpose of making false "spontaneous" or "grass roots level" points.

Were you aware?

Were you aware that there is a stand-alone website devoted solely to ObamaKare seminar callers, here? Please go there now. It explains everything and yet nothing.

So-called "talking points" from the official website:

These points are only to provide extra information and suggestions. Your personal story will make the most compelling message.

- For most Americans, their health care plan covers too little and costs too much. Far too many people delay or even skip the care they need because they simply can’t afford it.

- The plan the President laid out includes the largest health care tax cut for middle class families in history and makes coverage more affordable for tens of millions of families and small business owners and expands coverage to over 31 million Americans who are currently uninsured.

- This plan will give millions of Americans new choices in health insurance by making coverage more affordable, ending the denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions, putting power in the hands of consumers instead of insurance companies and providing one of the largest tax cuts in history while also reducing our national deficit.

- Reform couldn’t be more urgent – just this month consumers in California were told their premiums could go up as much as 39 percent.

- Too many in Washington are now saying that we should delay or give up on reform entirely, but Americans understand the stakes for our economy and our lives, and we want action.

Scripted, anyone?

Can you imagine what would have happened had a website like this occurred under the Evil Leader Bush?

Ten days, ladies and gentlemen. It's a nuclear attack.

I do complain about my husband's health insurance coverage. If only we had worked for the government, we could have a much better policy!

That said, if the government gets control of our health care, we are screwed even worse than what we have to deal with under private health-insurance coverage. Please see this post I did back in January. There is indeed something worse than the health-insurance plans we have: ObamaKare!

AOW- Your health insurance won't change. You'll still be with the same insurance provider. This really isn't about anything more than defeating Obama. This healthcare bill looks like Republicans wrote it. No public option, no single payer. We have insurance exchanges and private insurance for everything but Medicare and Medicaid. We didn't even get the 55 Medicare buy in, which really would have been a boon to people who would like to retire early and have the money but don't have the ability to pay for the huge health insurance premiums to do so before they can qualify for Medicare. It's amazing how the people like Rush can talk people like you into voting against their own interests. I'm glad this will be over in ten days (if they finally vote on, my God! how much more talking about this do we really need to do at this point?) and we can move on to the next thing.
Thnak God they can get this done with 51 votes.

The country is bankrupt.
Where do we get the money to pay for this boondoggle?

This just in

March 9) -- Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has thrown down the gauntlet. If the U.S. Congress passes health care reform, Limbaugh will leave the country to receive his medical treatment.

Specifically, Limbaugh told a caller that he envisions traveling to Costa Rica should the government, through a federal program costing upwards of $1 trillion, expand health care coverage to approximately 30 million Americans who are currently uninsured.

Costa Rica, as it happens, offers universal heath care to all of its residents.

He has reached new levels of dipshitery...

Easy for you to say Tim... I work for a small company (~60 people), and the company is ALREADY looking at how much the fines will be, as they don't want to pay for our insurance because we have world wide coverage (about $12k/yr per employee) due to the level and amount of overseas work we do... Also, I want to know where the doctors are going to come from to treat the extra 30 million people. Can you tell me that???

I work in health care.
I know what the problem is, and this bill DOES NOT address the problem.

Next.

Your provider can always change the coverage, there is no way to stop that... or just stop providing coverage... or raise your rates until you couldn't afford it. No one can stop companies from doing that, and you would not want to live in a nation where the government COULD do that.

Since Medicare is raided for $500bn and it is to be done via 'cost savings', then why not get that low hanging fruit, first? Save the government money via that.

Why not allow professional associations with national membership to offer coverage on that basis to compete with big businesses for pricing? Costs the government nothing... and has the opportunity of offering affordable coverage without changing the system in more than a minimal way.

The Republicans have offered tort reform, repealing some rules that prohibit small businesses from playing on the same field as big businesses... small reforms to see if there are opportunities to do things wisely because the system is so complex that any changes will have unknown consequences, so best make recoverable ones. This government is broke, and can't afford another 'entitlement' and will need to cut back on the ones that are already out there. Forget trying to 'expand' the system, for that you can look at Greece and California, and the none too solvent EU where demographics are going to liquidate entitlements as there aren't going to be enough citizens left to pay for them.

So wise.

So smart.

So broke.

So few children to support the ageing population.

Ok, scratch smart and wise on that.

That is the prescription for 'universal coverage' with medicare and medicaid, and social security.

Sorry to remove bd's comments, but he wanted everyone to know that he's, once again, sorry to have intruded on some salient comment threads here and that he'll be more measured in the future.

P.S.
bd, sir, when are you going to unveil your own blog where you may, yourself, reign supreme?

Right on Tim. Don't speak too much truth or you'll be censored here. I had this post removed twice already:

Big deal. The Dems have a site or two to combat all the lies that people are fed on conservative radio and Fox News. Hell, they're still spouting 'death panels' crap to the morons who believe this crap.

AOW still believes it's a 'government take over,' lol!

Greybeard doesn't understand that if we do nothing, healthcare costs will bankrupt us for sure.

I know Old NFO. Those 30 Million are probably liberals so we should just let them die, right?
While I have no idea why your work takes you overseas or the particulars of your situation, expanding coverage to 30 million people is the right thing to do. Hopefully the fines will be such that your employer will just go ahead and cover you.

Dont you get it??? The doctors will not be there to treat everyone. They are leaving in droves. I deal with Docs and their jobs for a living. I promise you they are getting out.

Tim, take a walk down to the neighborhood where you wouldnt let your wife/loved one walk in during the day and go to the clinic there. THATS what kind of treatment your gonna get everywhere. Clinics for everything.

For me its not about Idiotbama losing his quest. Its about ME losing decent healthcare that I work for so I dont have to go sit in a clinic with a bunch of slackers who suck govt benefits. I DONT WANT GOVT BENEFITS.
