(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Navy SEAL Exonerated:

For once, good news:

BAGHDAD (AP) - A U.S. Navy SEAL was cleared Thursday of charges he covered up the alleged beating of an Iraqi prisoner suspected of masterminding the grisly 2004 killings of four American security contractors.

This so-called "beating" revolved around:

Photographs of Abed's face and body taken in the days immediately after the alleged attack show a visible cut inside his lip but no obvious signs of bruising or injuries anywhere else.

I'd like to make this observation if I might: if the above constitutes a "beating," then I would suggest the Navy SEALS don't know how to do their jobs.

I expect my terrorists to be subject to the legal definition of "mayhem" (
"Every person who unlawfully and maliciously deprives a human being of a member of his body, or disables, disfigures, or renders it useless, or cuts or disables the tongue, or puts out an eye, or slits the nose, ear, or lip, is guilty of mayhem.") before the threshold of a "beating" is even remotely approached.

I dislike putting things in quite this term, but I can think of no other word than "pussified." Our military has been pussified, our schools have been pussified, our thoughts have been pussified, our law enforcement has been pussified, our American culture has been pussified.

With our current mindset we would have lost the Revolutionary War. We would have lost both World Wars. We would be speaking any major language other than English now.

Today, we won one for logic and testosterone.

There's nothing wrong with either item.

Try the word Oprahfied.

That's one that should be in the dictionary.

Extraction of information depends upon the application of persuasion.

Water-boarding never fails.

Something is Terribly Wrong with our Government to even think of bringing up charges on these men.

MC: if we use the technique on our soldiers for SERE training, it would appear to me that we've managed to waterboard more of our own people than any amount of terrorists.

In any event, general good news.

Very nice BZ. As a combat trained man myself, I believe these terrorists should've been shot on the battlefield. They're lucky to be alive anyway. How many enemies of the US are still alive after they have seen a Navy Seal? Not too many. He should be praying to allah that we didn't cap his ass.

American Girl: hey, thanks for visiting and thanks for taking the time to comment! I'll go take a peek at your blog!

Malcontent: concur; an "owie" on the lip demands a full inquisition? When did we decide to go down THIS road?

Chris: I'll wager that if YOU went through SERE, then YOU got waterboarded.

Isn't this wonderful news?

Finally, something really positive in a sea of bad news.

Brave men on the battlefield and off of it.

They wanted the investigation to clear their good names and shut up the critics. There were voices on the Right who didn't want that to happen... but the soldiers did so that the critics would have nothing to grasp at. They are denying the enemy a foothold... a handhold... a fingerhold...

Very brave, that.

Brave indeed, AJ.
But these guys careers are probably cooked... McCabe's certainly is, and someone should have to pay for that.
Won't happen.
And that's a shame.

Greybeard - I have always heard that in the military justice system you are far better off if acquitted or found not guilty than in the civilian system... and in the civilian system you get better treatment if guilty than in the military system. If our military cannot uphold that fine distinction, then we are well, and truly, screwed as a Nation. On matters of war and peace in the field, that distinction counts.
