Bloviating Zeppelin: Obaka Nominates Elena Kagan, SCOTUS

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Obaka Nominates Elena Kagan, SCOTUS

Here is what I can find on her so far, at this very early point:

- Solicitor General, Department of Justice, 2009-present

- Member, Research Advisory Council at the Goldman Sachs Global Markets Institute, 2005-2008

- Dean, Harvard Law School, 2003-2009

- Deputy assistant to President Clinton for Domestic Policy, 1997-1999

- Associate counsel to President Clinton, 1995-1996

- Special counsel to Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Joe Biden, 1993

- Law clerk to Justice Thurgood Marshall, U.S. Supreme Court, 1987-1988

- Staff member, Dukakis for President Campaign, 1988.

Leftist, clearly, but how much? First lesbian on SCOTUS?

A very interesting point from Le-gal In-sur-rec-tion:

The meme has taken hold that Kagan is a stealth candidate who has avoided taking positions on important constitutional or other issues throughout her career.

But on one issue of critical importance to the left -- the constitutional right to same-sex marriage, Kagan has staked out a very clear and unequivocal position: There is no constitutional right to same-sex marriage.

In the course of her nomination for Solicitor General, Kagan filled out questionnaires on a variety of issues. While she bobbed and weaved on many issues, with standard invocations of the need to follow precedent and enforce presumptively valid statutes, on the issue of same-sex marriage Kagan was unequivocal.

One thing is obvious to me: she, like Mr Obaka, appears to be well educated but lacking in practical experience. As my civics teacher used to say: "You may have been taught, but what have you learned?"

I've been reading how the left's already spinning her treatment of military at Harvard....they actually admit she kept recruiters around just enough to not lose Harvard's funding!... There's a great pass, huh?

Read that carefully ...not like a liberal would, you'll see the things I see there.

And, I think she's only fifty; Obama wants to ruin our country for YEARS to come if he thinks she's the type who'll do what he wants from the SCOTUS: legislate to the will of congress and the people, which is UNBELIEVABLE in a PRESIDENT.

The Constitution being, after all, a LIVING document and is merely a SUGGESTION, not the founding core document of our nation in law.

I'll be publishing, shortly, a post about the REAL push, behind the scenes, in American law, SCOTUS and the Constitution.

It's amazing that the MSM is already calling her a moderate--well perhaps to them she is moderate considering how radical they are. Maybe she is a little to the right of the American Communist Party---that's a moderate according to the MSM. Many military supporters are coming forward to oppose her, but unless something new comes up she will be confirmed.

You are right because of her age she will be around for a long, long time. Maybe the next president should consider a "court packing" amendment! Republicans need to learn to play dirty like the Dems.

Z: hey, screw the country, keep the funding. It doesn't get any better than that.

Ron: hey, JFK would be an Right Wing extremist these days. So would Zell Miller and the evil Harry Truman.

The Libs will spin their side while the conservatives will find out the truth. Time will tell.

She's never been a judge, as you say "no experience". To me that is the main reason NOT to have her on the highest court. She seems to be sexist, sympathetic to Gays. She's a bad choice.

TF: hmmmm. . .

Debbie: if she keeps true to form, she might be just a tad disappointing to the Far Left.

Hey, Debbie, she may be sympathetic to gays but she has clearly said that there is no constitutional right for same sex marriages. That's not a bad thing.

Time to do some research.

Amazing no matter how much the Left vituperates against Goldman-Sachs they won't even mention Kagan's role with it... and that an advisor that didn't tell them not to do the things they were doing just might not make a good SCOTUS nominee.

Instead it is identity politics galore...and trying to hide her Statist proclivities and willingness to support more government power at the expense of civil rights.

If Kagan is a "fag", then I do not want her, or her rulings from her position on the SUPREME COURT.
Period!
Is this clear?
Her even being nominated by Obama, is an ABOMINATION!!

Mr. Z - That was an interesting read I got from Radley Balko at Reason. There are a number of outstanding criticisms that one can put to Kagan... and for Goldman-Sachs she should recuse herself from any cases involving them as she was part of the decision making process there. Even more fun is that being Solicitor General, she has bias towards those cases in the process of working their way through the DoJ and any of those she should recuse herself from, including such things as Obamacare.

What record she has is spotty and not noteworthy save for its leftist bent. But that love of authority... that is something that the Left always, and ever, complains about when they are not in control, but its all a-ok when they are because they 'mean well'. The ends justify the means, after all, if you are on the Left.

She is just like Obama in that regards: stealthy, without resume, and nothing to really recommend her. Obama wants a rubber stamp... yet she can't put her imprint on anything in the works... a sub-par choice from a sub-par President for a sub-par candidate for the SCOTUS.

This is just another blatant example of how the Obama regime plans to change the America as we know it. Right in front of our eyes, he is, once again, thumbing his nose at Americans and appointing someone who shares his beliefs and agenda to dismantle our country. Fresh off his healthcare sucker-punch to us, he now feels empowered to make this appointment to the nation's highest court. It won't stop until we, the voters, take action to remove this cancer of an administration.
