Bloviating Zeppelin: Republican Agenda?

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Republican Agenda?

Oooooo, the Big, Bad Scawwwy Wepubwicans (said in your best Elmer Fudd voice) are back at it. And this time, Daily Kos actually has it correct:

The Republicans do have an agenda

Sat Aug 28, 2010 at 02:30:04 PM PDT

As noted by Jed Lewison, the Republican agenda, should they retake the House, distills down to this:

  1. Extend Bush tax cuts for wealthy.
  1. Pledge to veto EFCA or energy reform legislation passed by Congress after the November election but before the new Congress.
  1. Tell Democrats to support the GOP's effort to repeal a provision of the health care law that Boehner claims would require businesses to itemize all expenditures over $600. (Note that Republicans actually blocked a vote to repeal the mandate in House and the small jobs bill in the Senate, currently being blocked by the GOP, is also a vehicle for repeal.)
  1. Submit a massive spending reduction package to Congress.
  1. (Tell the president to) (f)ire his entire economic team.

As Jed summarized:

The thing about that list is that there isn't a single thing about what Republicans would actually do. It's just a list of demands on President Obama and except for the first one -- in which Boehner demands Obama extend Bush tax cuts for the wealthy -- they are purely rhetorical in nature.

I would predominantly concur:

- EXTEND the Bush tax cuts. Absolutely!
- Veto ALL energy legislation if it REMOTELY smells like CapNTax. Absolutely!
- Not far ENOUGH. Repeal EVERY WORD of ObakaKare and start over. Absolutely!
- Submit a MASSIVE spending reduction package to Congress. Absolutely!
- Don't stop with firing Obama's economic team. Fire his entire cabinet and all of his Czars. Absolutely!

Quite frankly, I think the GOP should be proud if it were to be collectively called the Party Of NO. Problem is, too many Republicans like to keep that pork coming and enjoy spending money that isn't theirs.

We are, to no surprise, in agreement on this.

However, one thing I've heard recently about the Republican plans has me grinding my teeth, BZ. I'm hearing they have a whole list of investigations they want to conduct into Obama and others on the Hill.

What don't they get about enough is enough. The endless cycle of 'gotcha' serves no one.

I want them to take care of the country instead of being sidetracked.

Why aren't they getting the message?

Well BZ, the Republicans are just as bad as the Democrats. They both want to keep their jobs and want to get reelected. Period. The Repubs will only do enough just to get reelected. Jesse the Body Ventura said it best," politics is a lot like wrestling. They pretend to fight in front of the cameras, but when they're in private, they're best friends."

I think that sums it up nicely.

I truly hope the GOP will stick to their guns and stand by the people and will follow the constitution and enforce our laws.

What needs to happen is to stop the pork FIRST, then stop the BS second...

the agenda is to GET RID OF THE BUMS, and most are Dems, no wonder they're scared!
(great comment at geeeZ today, thanks BZ)

cj, why's it always okay for them to do it to the Republicans but the minute Republicans want to investigate, it's a bad thing? I hate that we have to even consider doing these things but OBAMA'S GUYS? Who WOULDN"T want to investigate?

If Republicans in Congress cannot figure out that they don't have to have bills funding large sections of the US government, then they deserve the pain they will get.

Tar, feathers, rail.

Do not take the toenail clippers to reduce big government: bring a chainsaw. The greatest power of Congress is NOT TO FUND THINGS. When there is no funding there is no one able to spend money as Congress has not approved it.

Both parties need to get lost in the wilderness for a few decades and let some folks who know how NOT TO SPEND run things for awhile...

Stop the spending.

Is that so very, very, very difficult to understand?
