Bloviating Zeppelin: Why Things Won't Change

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Why Things Won't Change

I'm in a Black Mood this morning.

So I'll keep it simple.

Things won't change, no matter how you wish them to.

Because many of the Republicans have no guts.

They are not Conservatives; they are Republicans.

Elena Kagan was easily confirmed on Thursday:

The Democratic-led Senate voted largely along party lines, 63-37, to confirm the former Harvard Law School dean as the fourth female justice in U.S. history and the 112th high court member.

All Democratic senators but one voted for her, two independent senators voted for her and five Republicans voted for her. All other Republican senators opposed her nomination.

U.S. appeals court Judge Sonia Sotomayor was confirmed last year by a 68-31 vote as the first Hispanic Supreme Court justice. [A "wise latina." -BZ *]

Five Republicans voted for her.

Only five Republicans voted in favor of Kagan's nomination. Last year, just nine Republicans voted for Sotomayor.

Today's yes votes included Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the lone Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee to support Kagan when the panel recommended the nomination to the full Senate on a 13-6 vote. Other GOP yes votes came from Richard Lugar of Indiana, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine, and Judd Gregg of New Hampshire.

Kagan also lost the vote of one Democrat, Ben Nelson of Nebraska.

The 63-37 tally is the third closest Supreme Court vote since the rejection of Robert Bork in 1987; only justices Clarence Thomas (52-48) and Samuel Alito (58-42) had narrower confirmations.

Unanimity? You can forget it. The Republicans want to go along in order to get along. And getting along means keeping a seat, not making waves, not angering those with money and influence, remaining primarily background when necessary and -- most importantly -- keeping those checks coming consistently.

You want to know why things won't change? As I wrote in the comments at TejasFred:

comment number 5 by: Bloviating Zeppelin

You and I, people that read Fred’s blog and my blog, we just don’t matter. Those in power quite frankly couldn’t care one whit LESS about us.

It has always been my contention that an insufficient number of judges, attorneys, CEOs, politicians, magistrates, county executives, aldermen, city council members, commissioners, senators, legislators, representatives and other officials get shot, stabbed, raped, sodomized, beaten, defrauded, cheated, victimized — or their families or loved ones.

Primarily it is because they are insulated — and purposely so — by multiple levels of security, money, gates, gatekeepers, and by purposely written laws specifically excluding them from those strictures imposed upon the general electorate.

I suppose that an insufficient number of drunken illegal aliens have killed members of the above groups or their families. Or perpetrated crimes upon their persons.

Once again, my people, hear me:

You simply don’t count.

Your JOB is to pay taxes, put up, shut up, wear your blinders, open your mouth and take your pablum.

Good little baby. Good little sheepie.

BZ

So there you have it.

Good night and good luck.

We are so going to need it.

BZ

* P.S.
Again, let's be blunt: my wife isn't "latina" or "hispanic," she's Mexican. And she has a geometrically-greater amount of common sense than Sotomayor without playing the "wise latina" card. Her significant intelligence doesn't require a fallback position.

Ya know, if we could come up with 30 or 40 million folks like you, me, Bushwack, AOW and a few others, we could set this bullshit RIGHT in a hurry...

Alas, I don't know if there ARE that many non-GOP Conservatives in America any longer...

I once admired the blog Flopping Aces, now they have a GOP-Bot, Mikes America, that floods the page with PRO GOP this, that and the other... He's a GOP suck-ass...

He loves him some RINOs and we Conservatives are what's wrong with America... Sounds an awful lot like that old bat Gayle and My Republican Blog, and that moonbat SJ Reidhead at the Pink Flamingo..

The GOP can do NO wrong in their minds... I guess they either smoked so much dope when they were young libs, well, you see the result, they think GOP/RINOs are the answer...

I lost some online blogger friends during the last presidential primaries when I couldn't get it through their head not to be fixated on "anyone but Hillary" because I said we need to focus on the GOP side and getting an actual Conservative as the candidate. I hope they have now learned their lesson, worry about your own house, ya know.

Don't get so down, BZ, try to be positive and have a good weekend.

You had to know that headline would grab my attention BZ. It's spot on. But, you know what I can't for the life of me figure out??

How is it that the Republican party, in their want to have a "big" tent and bring people in, will embrace the uber-moderates but write off someone like Ron Paul?

Newsflash to the GOP: THE CAUSE OF LIBERTY IS A SELLING POINT!!!

I am in survival mode: I've read about what happens in other countries that let these Leftists roam the halls of power and call it 'good'. It does not end well for millions.

The Progressive movement has successfully limited representation, convinced people that their votes don't count by having them see no impact in voting, connived to get into bed with big business and then use big business as an excuse for big government to gain power while showering gifts on big business...

Their fellow travelers on the left, those of the elite wannabe will spout anything they are told to spout, believe different things that are diametrically opposite as true, often within in seconds of saying them and that within seconds of each other, and they will villainize anyone not joining them in their submission to elitism as a great way to go.

It doesn't matter if it is Spain, Germany, Russia, Laos, Kenya, Cambodia, Cuba... there is rivers of blood down that road.

America remains most civil and most armed, so the Left resorts to sending slurs in a flurry at any who disagree with them. They are afraid to back up their words and resort to saying that their opponents are dishonest and do not mean what they say in the way they said it. That is dishonest and dishonorable in the extreme, and these on the Left know no bounds of morals, ethics or honor, and are the empty husks and useful followers of self-annointed tyrants. Sad they do not learn that once their utility is gone that they are the first to go by those self-appointed ones. They could be saved by standing up against centralizing power... instead they become consumed by that power.

I can and will remain civil, and say what I mean. I want no fights, do not bring them to me. But when they bring one, as they always do, I stand ready to finish it and start anew without the tyrant wannabes and the elites... they are cowards as they will not and cannot try that in America directly. And as I watch them spin and spew invective and hatred to all, I know that it is themselves they hate the most to take no stand against tyranny, against Empire. That is what the Left claimed America was, an Empire, and as they ever do that is what they want to run: an Empire.

I am no man's slave, no man's whipping boy, and not to be indimidated. I am ready to survive what comes. They aren't. And that tells you all you need to know.

With some few exceptions when others were trying to tell me I was being too negative, I've been hearing "LOCK AND LOAD" in the back of my head for some time now.
Health care...
Wasteful spending...
Illegal immigrants...
And now this decision in California.
"Of the people. By the people. For the people."
What the Hell happened to our country?
Barring some "Eureka" moment on the part of about half the electorate, I see only pain in our future, out to the horizon.

Be prepared, or be a victim.

You know, BZ, folks used to wonder why the Lord would call for the full-scale slaughter of nations by His people, & even reject Him & the faith because they couldn't understand how He could do such a thing. When we see how sin & wickedness cause once-great nations to fall to the level we are seeing today, we begin to get an inkling as to the reason. He being all-knowing, & though He is love, yet He knows when a nation is corrupt to the core, & must call for its destruction to save the world from absolute corruption itself. We kind of get an inside view of the rot that happens to bring this on. He never does it, however, until He has given such nations chance after chance after chance to repent & return to Him. He is our only Hope, but will we see it & acknowledge it before it's too late? We can only pray & do our part. Again, I appreciate you & your blog, BZ. God Bless.

RINO season is open! The only RINO that almost gets a pass is Scott Brown. He gets a temporary pass because of the thorn he put in Obama's ass. He didn't vote for Kagen. He'll never be someone we can count on but he's 150% better than anything we could get out of that state!
