(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Olbermann Out At MSNBC:

Keith Olbermann, formers sports announcer-cum-self-envisioned-reincarnation of Edward R Murrow, told viewers on Friday night (January 21st) that the gig was up. He was dropped by NBC somewhat precipitously but not without a history of controversy. Olbermann was, ahem, polemic to say the least, but still somehow envisioned himself in the mainstream of thought -- which he was, but only for the Elitist Left who elbow-rub in various parvenu and jejune DC soirees.

In a way, I'm going to miss Mr Olbermann -- for a fraction of a second (ooops, there it went) -- and his bombastic, high-decibeled pomposity. However, Olbermann does need to be credited for damned near single-handedly enabling whatever meager ratings MSNBC managed to dribble out per rating period. The dude had passion; that is indisputable. Rumors indicate he has another two years left on his contract, which will be paid at $7 million per year.

However, fear not; Lawrence O'Donnell will take over the 8pm slot, with Ed Schultz's show moving from 6pm to 10pm. You'll be pleased to know that O'Donnell is a tad more honest insofar as he labels himself a Socialist and is pleased to do so.

With $14 million dollars shortly in his pocket, I don't fear for the likes of Mr Olbermann. He'll find a place to land considering the current media climate.

I'd like to see FOX hire him LMAO... I'd like to see him and his douchebaggery be on with Hannity or O'riley and see his "Elitist" "Above you peons" type of entertainment television get smacked down.. His show NEVER had an opposing view guest that had a clue. He made sure any opinion counter to his own didn't measure up in the professor's eyes... I'd put facts up against feelings any day of the week.

Never watched him, but I'm sorry he's no longer able to spout off.

Think Bill O'Reilly will start his show Monday by saying "I win"?

I’m slowly losing my sources for comic relief!! I often used to play “Air America” radio on my computer(it wasn’t played on the local stations, for obvious reasons) as I surfed or did anything on my computer.

It’s not for the faint of heart but, I find a LOT of entertainment listening to these folks. If I were even half as miserable as these people seem to be, I’d be tempted to slit my wrists.

Most times they seem to be unhappy about everything and that would often make me snicker……maybe I’m a bit perverse about the whole thing. But, come on now, you’ve got to see the comedy in some of the things these whack jobs spout!

Now that Olbermann is gone again, I wonder how long it will before the left starts saying, "we got rid of Olbermann, when are YOU guys going to get rid of Limbaugh, Hannity or O'Reilly???"

Here's another contrary post you will squelch BZ:

Those self serving ideologues on the right celebrating Keith's departure once again prove that they would rather squelch opposing voices to further their narrow, corporate driven agenda. And lies.

Keith was one of the first progressives on TV. He brought much needed truth to the airwaves and wasn't afraid to call Fox News and the GOP out on their of lies and hypocrisy, which is constant. Unlike Fox and Rush, he also criticized his own party and even Obama when warranted. It's not hard to understand that the new Comcast/MSNBC merger has something to do with this. I believe he was let go and the decision was mutual. I also think he'll be back.

The Supreme Court's decision allows corporations to give as much as they want to political candidates, even anonymously. The FCC's approval of the Comcast/NBC deal furthers the control of the media by corporate America. Something like 95% of the media is now owned by 5 corporations.

Let the Plutocracy begin. The lemmings on the right seem willing to follow gladly while their rights and services are being diminished right before their very eyes.

You reap what you sow.

Yeah db, we're certainly reaping a lot of what we've been sowing, which is why there's such an outcry of outrage at Keith Olbermann's leaving the air -- to the tune of $14 million for two years of having to work at nothing. Why did Air America as a network fail miserably? Market forces. They were not LISTENED to. Shock of shocks. Why do people on the right and the left in Corporate America get fired? Because they said or did something that pissed off their bosses, or they wanted too much cash. That's such a difficult concept to digest, I know.

Nomadiam: first, welcome aboard, thanks for visiting and thanks for taking the time to comment! I will miss, again, for a fraction of a second, watching Olbermann melting down. It was amusing.

Scotty: first, thanks for visiting, welcome aboard, and thanks for taking the time to arrive and comment. I actually had an Air America station in Sacramento for a time; at one point there were two Lefty stations in Sacto, both AA affiliates, and two Righty stations. Air America dried up, I too listened to it over the internet for maybe 35 seconds one day. No huge conspiracy: they hemorrhaged listeners day by day, week by week. SAME THING that would happen if people stopped listening to Conservative talk radio: it would go away. But it hasn't because it has an audience.
