Bloviating Zeppelin: Obama On Petroleum: The US Needs To Experience MASSIVE Gas Hikes

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Obama On Petroleum: The US Needs To Experience MASSIVE Gas Hikes

And that, of course, is coming because of current events.

Hayley Barbour states the obvious when he says:

WASHINGTON – Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a potential presidential contender, accused the Obama administration Wednesday of favoring a run-up in gas prices to prod consumers to buy more fuel-efficient cars.

Barbour cited 2008 comments from Steven Chu, now President Barack Obama's energy secretary, that a gradual increase in gasoline taxes could coax consumers into dumping their gas-guzzlers and finding homes closer to where they work. Chu, then a Nobel Prize-winning professor, argued that higher costs per gallon could force investments in alternative fuels and spur cleaner energy sources.

"This administration's policies have been designed to drive up the cost of energy in the name of reducing pollution, in the name of making very expensive alternative fuels more economically competitive," Barbour said during a U.S. Chamber of Commerce breakfast across the street from the White House.

Do not, I submit, count on Mr Obama to stop or curtail delayable petroleum sourcing.

Do not expect Mr Obama to attempt to ameliorate the coming petroleum issue because he would acquire what he wants: a forced oil crisis. In keeping with his philosophy.

Let me state this now: ethanol production via corn simply deprives the United States and the rest of the world of corn. There are people starving in various nations around the world because US corn production is diverted to ethanol. Thank you, Mr Obama, for killing people globally. And, by the way, ethanol is less energy efficient than gasoline and provides less energy in combustion and less mileage per gallon. What? No one tells you that?

Additionally, for those not so informed, Mr Obama would rather this nation be smacked down with a transportation crisis than to resolve it with available domestic resources.

Highly refined gasoline is only a portion of the petroleum issue. Of greater concern is the availability of diesel -- not quite so highly refined -- but, like forms of unleaded gasoline, forced to conform to any number of localized state boutique forms. When you pour gas or diesel from a pump, you have no idea what the local laws may be regarding your fuel content.

Your car runs, likely, on gasoline.

You have to realize that bulk global transport runs, instead, on diesel.

The smaller transport trucks that deliver goods or packages to your local areas and home run on diesel. Mitsubishi, Funo, Isuzu to name a few. UPS and FedEx run diesel vehicles and hybrids.

From there, larger trucks run America: Kenworth, Peterbilt, Western Star, Freightliner, Volvo, Mack.

Further, there are two dominant locomotive builders in the United States: GE (General Electric) and EMD (Electro Motive Diesel). Trains move the greatest amount of bulk commodities around this nation on the thinnest of rails because of such a low friction point on said rails. Locomotives are diesel/electric hybrids. The diesel engine runs a generator which, in turn, drives the traction motors on each locomotive axle.

Then, overall, the bulk of current ships run on hybrid diesel/electric propulsion systems, much like locomotives. Diesel engines power and create electrical generation that, in turn, propels the shafts of ships.

If Mr Obama wants to shut off oil, he wants to shut off progress and, moreover, current existence. He wants to BREAK you on behalf of his AGENDA.

Be warned, dear readers.

As Rahm Emanual said: "You never let a serious crisis go to waste."

I weary of pointing out the sorry state of the current Oval Office occupant and the nefarious motives behind his policies and plans. The drones won't listen to reason.

It's much easier to just stoop to their level and say "Obama is a punk" whilst preparing for the demise of our economy, the destruction of our safety, and the continued attacks upon our liberty by those who swore oaths to protect the same.

Again, Obama is a punk. And Holder is a racist, but like you said in your previous article, I already knew that.

More than anything, we lack refineries.

And you will remember the "Outrage" when Gas prices rose under GWB. Even though we were in Iraq for oil....But now Obama is in charge and gas prices rise because of HIS ACTIONS and it's okay because "Duh Won" is in charge.. I'm so sick of this childish bullshit. Our nation has grown soft. From these "Tough Guy" union thugs to the intellectuals in Berkley every last one of them will drop dead if you take away their internet and latte's.... No outrage until a cup of starbucks cost 10 bucks, and their tuition goes up 40% to cover gas bills... Assholes ALL of them...

Much as I hate to be pessimistic, I really think this country is too far down the road. most people here do not even have any idea how wealth is created and think an ever bigger government raising ever bigger taxes will fix everything. we just need to regulate and tax the hell out of any wealth creation efforts and spend our way to prosperity! that's the ticket!
The only way any sea change will take place is when personal morality comes back in vogue, that will only happen after a few generations of disaster if history is any teacher.

So they'd lead you to believe. Funny thing though, of all the stories on rising gas/food prices, and I have read at least 2 dozen over the past couple months, only 1 made any mention of dollar devalution.

Anyone that thinks rising oil and gas prices are due to ME instability isn't paying attention.

All commodity prices are skyrocketing.

I truly feel so helpless. There is not a darn thing that any of us can do to stop this government. We have to sit and watch as nation crumbles around us.

God please, help us.

Tim: yes, unfortunately, a given. And yet, the amazing things is, so many people seem to revere the man. I so don't understand that.

WSF: yes, drilling is only one aspect. We lack refining capacity as well which accounts for our buying REFINED fuel on the market.

Bushwack: right. We were in Iraq for oil. That sure worked out well. What'd we get out of Iraq, a thimbleful splattered on various US uniforms?

Mark: you make an excellent general point. Too many people have no idea about the basics of government. I would wager most folks don't know if they actually live in a city or a county, what the difference is, what their responsibilities are, how wealth is created -- I'll wager 90% of Americans don't know Congress consists of the House and the Senate. Much less the terms of representatives or senators.

Soapster: correct, all consumables are going up. Food, milk, petroleum; the Middle East is but one factor but a large one. No one is going to, in retrospect, admire Bernanke for devaluing the dollar when we step into inflation and then hyperinflation.

Leticia: wish I could say that all will work out in the end, shortly. But I don't believe that at all. Only with catastrophe does anything significant seem to be accomplished in DC.

Even then, consider 9-11. Have we secured our borders? Have we focused like a laser beam on the levels and layers and specific individuals who wish to do us harm? No. We pat down Grandma and Grandpa.

Them old folks, kick the walker out from underneath them and they ain't shit. Everyone knows they are deceptively dangerous and, historically, responsible for so many terrorist acts on our soil.

I read something on Debbie's site that said AUSTERITY is what the PROGRESSIVES need right now..."austerity creates chaos" then they never move in. Scary stuff because O's certainly moving us toward Austerity chaos.
That's the 'catastrophe' you're alluding to, BZ, in your comment; but it'll be OUR catastrophe that DC will bring socialism in with.
That Kirkpatrick piece I blogged today and will keep up until enough read it, was SO telling...like a blueprint for what the Obama thugs are putting us through now.
HOW I wish this wasn't true.

We'd have had refineries by now had the Republicans been heeded for the years they've said DRILL DRILL DRILL.
Then you see the nightmare our NOT drilling has created because the Dems couldn't handle warm caribou in Alaska (the facts are the animals LIKED the drilling, by the way) and one wonders was that a ruse? Just another notch in the AUSTERITY/CHAOS belt that's about to strangle us?

What to say?

Massive gas hikes will tank our economy! Just the hike in getting food and goods to market will destroy household after household -- and put those households on welfare.

Well, in my view, that tanking of our economy is exactly what Obama wants to see so that he can consolidate his own power into tyranny.

We've been discussing this, and IF, big if, we started today, it would be a MINIMUM of 5 years to bring any US oil to market or build any new refineries... AOW has it correct, Obama is trying to tank the entire economy.

Prepare, now, it is still not too late.

Food, shelter, medications, ammo and something to do when thinigs get rough.

Get those things, be prepared, and if the worst never comes, then you are prepared for the lesser problems in life.

I've gotten the basics, have the fundamentals of a home workshop, picked up the Gingery books and know that anything I can make myself is not something I will have to buy. The skills necessary to weather bad times are few, easily learned, hard to master, and will allow you to make do when you might otherwise have to do without.

By doing these things you set an example for others.

You are the most important thing in your life and are useless to others when you are no longer living, unless you have done your best to show how to weather bad times and act well during good ones. Do these things and when the world goes to hell, you are one of those leading the way out... not because you are a leader, but because you were prepared to get our of hell.

Strange to say it, but when you do the right thing, others will understand and follow during such times. They will emulate a good example.

Set one and you are set and the course is clear, no matter how bad it gets, the way out is forward and through.
