Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Just About Done

I'm just about done with the GOP.

I can hear Texas Fred now: "tol'ya so." Yeah yeah. I'm still hopeful but engaging some different gears.

I'm not far from trotting down to my county service center in Auburn and officially registering as an official Independent.

To those who read me: it still amazes that I have any number of readers because I can be, in terms of my posts, all over the radar screen, day-by-day. I've noticed that comments are significantly down.

That said, the question is: how many of you, my readers, were just terrifically pleased with the budget deal agreed upon over the weekend?

There were $38.5 billion dollars in cuts.

The president will then speak about coming tax hikes this coming Wednesday, the 13th. Oddly enough, that's the birthday of Thomas Jefferson -- in 1743.

Just one state -- my state -- Fornicalia has a budget shortfall of $26 billion. The state is considering budget cuts of $18 billion, just to begin with. $18 billion dollars' worth of cuts from just one state -- ? As contrasted to the ENTIRE federal budget cuts of $38 billion?

The US government spends $38 billion on toilet paper for its bathrooms every year. In just the past 1.5 years, the federal government has added 156,000 jobs. In this economy? How can that be?

That's akin to being $50,000 in personal/household debt and patting yourself on the back because you've decided not to buy a carton of ice cream the next month. What a savings! What a sacrifice!

I called Hugh Hewitt on Monday. I asked: just how long will you support the GOP? He disappointed me: he'll keep on keeping on though he spends a good portion of his showtime and prep excoriating the Republicans and Stating The Obvious: he's unhappy with the budget deal. Really, Hugh? From the Department of Redundancy Dept.? You lay out the argument, sir, but you won't, you refuse to take the final step?

Let's continue to state the obvious here:

- Bernanke insists on printing more money
- He merely delays the crash
- By delaying the crash, it's only going to get WORSE
- Geometrically

When will we, as I asked Hugh, begin to get truly serious about the opposition to spending? When the deficit can be measured not just in trillions (1012), but in quadrillions? Quintillions? Sextillions? Septenvigintillions (which is 1084)?

We have a debt crisis. We either handle it ourselves or other people and entities will DO IT FOR US.

Paul Ryan made the best offering to date. He was summarily rejected out of hand.

The GOP continues to set itself up for a continuous series of sucker punches. The nation spoke in November. And still, despite that, the GOP continues to promulgate squishiness.

But here's the rub: the Republicans bleat: "Don't punish us. Punish the Demorats."

Really??

But still, they -- at the end of the day -- meet in dark, upholstered DC bars and backslap their own and their "colleagues" across the aisle.

I'll make it simple: because they have theirs. And everyone else can go straight to Hell. It's as fundamental as that. DC pols don't suffer the pain that you, the American Taxpayer, do.

And, in general, Boehner crows about his accomplishments whilst -- simultaneously -- Steny Hoyer says the GOP shouldn't be responsible for shutting down the federal government.

These two flaccid pols have, in fact accomplished nothing. The federal government never did shut down. It didn't shut down now and it hasn't shut down in the past. Not truly.

In retrospect, there is no "strategy" whatsoever. No one knows. No one has an inkling. Because it simply doesn't exist.

- Obama wants higher taxes
- His deficit is officially out of control
- The budget consists of lies, smoke, mirrors, bullshit
- Dems want to tax the internet

John McCain may have made his first cogent observation in many months:

The various TEA Party patriots are about to save this nation. Despite being held in contempt by the Demorats, Leftists, Socialists, and even many in the Republican Party.

Despite, as I write, this nation working, clearly, against them.

But that comes as no great shock, truly, does it, my dearest readers?

Does it?

BZ

P.S.
Are there truly Senators and Representatives possessed of actual gonads and spines?

Okay BZ I don't disagree with you too often but I sort do now. We got 87 or so GOOD ones in the House. We are changing the face of the GOP. The REAL challenge is for US not give up over one budget fight. This is a marathon not a sprint. As long as we got them fighting, we have a chance.

I'm an independent. I vote for the best candidate. Lately though we have had to vote AGAINST candidates rather than for one.

Let's see how this shakes out before giving up brother. This week, we got the debt ceiling vote, we got the next budget vote.. Obama has played his hole card. He will have to play in the open from here on out. Oh and lets not forget the most important thing: We are now talking about CUTTING as in how much to cut. Rather than talking about SPENDING how much to spend. That is progress. baby steps man. Lets keep the pressure on them, lets re-energize the tea party principles and make sure they know WE WILL SUPPORT THEM if they FIGHT! AND vote their ass out if they cave.

Old NFO recently had a post on military leadership (or lack thereof). One comment had in part, "weasels don't get sucked into jet engines".

I cannot think of a single Senator or Representative who isn't a "go along" weasel.

My personal effort is at the local political level. Totally frustrating but that is something I can do besides bloviating.

Keep up the "all over the place" blogs. You are interesting. Politics, trains, Monterey Bay; it is all interesting.

Robert, SO thank you for weighing in!

But I make an error -- ?

Changing my party to Independent rather than Republican -- ?

I'm trying SO hard NOT to "give up."

I don't disagree with you on this.

WSF: "weasels"??

I can DO THAT!

I guess keeping your R by your name is akin to my wife keeping her "D" They assume you are a lock, but as it was proven that letter doesn't mean shit.

There is one benefit to changing, you get to vote in BOTH primaries here in Cali and that is a good thing. We get calls from both parties and get to nut em on the phone during elections.. We are simple folks entertainment for us....LOL

I also get a bit frustrated with the GOP but at least we are seeing some effort.

John Boehner stood his ground and forced Harry Reid to put on the floor to vote on De-funding planned parenthood this coming Thursday. And believe me, the man is still kicking and screaming in protest.

Hang in there, the GOP isn't finished.

We DO have a few good GOP people, but not nearly enough...

The GOP has caved, the Grand OLD Party, key word: OLD, has screwed us over at least as bas as have the Dems...

We went through all of this same talk last election cycle and I told everyone then what I am saying again, the GOP is going to run some weak-assed offering and Obama will win again...

What have we got? Romney? That's a joke, Pawlenty? He's doing a Fred Thompson, *I'm a lazy bastard but I'm testing the waters" BS routine...

The GOP is done my friends, and if Rob meant what he said on Facebook about not being a GOP or Dems, but being a TEA Party, then he is indeed a 3rd party supporter, or he's attaching himself to an arm OF the GOP, and frankly, I believe that's all the TEA Party is now...

And WE are FUCKED...

I've been Independent for some time. It makes it easier to hang up on either party looking for money.

Any time the current crop of Republicants are up against a wall, they hold firm - until the last second, when they collapse like a deck of cards and compromise to beat the band.

The Demoncrats know this, so they give a little here and there to help the Rs give in.

What is needed is a set of gonads on the Hill that will not allow the Fed to spend more than it takes in.

Ever.

Of course, that won't happen, as long as the "representatives" are making more money than 95% of the people they "represent".

Bunchaweasels.

BZ, I know how you feel... The only reason I haven't change to (I) is that here in Florida, it's closed primary, meaning unless you are registered (R) you can't vote in the primary... Then in the general election I vote for the best candidate...

I find blogging a slog these days. The political situation is so grim, and the GOP is full of weasels.

A significant part of the problem: the media! Every time the GOP makes a good move, the media gang up and start whining -- and lying.

Well Fred, Yep I meant what I said I facebook. I said it right after I watched 87 house reps voice their opposition to raise the debt ceiling/the budget agreement and Obama's proposed B.S.

My reason is simple. The tea party is not perfect, BUT it's the ONLY entity that is PUSHING the GOP the right direction. We must keep the TEA PARTY a viable tool We should support the principles on which the TEA PARTY was successful in 2010.

I know some folks have issues with their local chapters, but the ideals of the tea party nationally is right now I believe our only hope to move the GOP right.

I look at the 87 new house reps and see there is HOPE. We need the senate in 2012.

I went independent about two years ago, BZ, right after the election. I vowed it was the last time I would hold my nose and vote for what the republicans put forth as a viable candidate, like a John McCain.

After seeing senators and congressmen, that the Republican Party didn’t really want to back, win elections. I saw that I don’t have to accept what the “fathers” of the party give me anymore.

I consider myself a conservative and I lean a little bit towards libertarian, on some issues.

Am I a “Tea Partier”? I don’t know, I’m still not always certain what a “Tea Party” person is, even after attending a few events, here in Florida.

I’m not “Just About Done”, I’m DONE! I was registered as a Republican since 1968.

Simple math. We need a budget that has a surplus. Without that we cannot begin to pay down the dept. Any budget that continues deficit spending is failure. If the Republicans and the Democrats found $38B to cut, and the budget is still in the red, they failed. Unfortunately, we are all on the Titanic together, and their failure takes us along too.

bz . . . The GOP does kind of twist your knickers doesn't it. The lack of leadership is appalling. Where are the GOP brains? Isn't there anyone but Ron Paul with the moxie to call a spade a spade? Newt, bless his lack of decency, could stand toe to toe with Obama - but Newt is a brilliant politician who stupidly ruined his own reputation and now has too much baggage. Romney has stature, poise and an empty suit. Palin and Bachman bring tea and capability but get no support from the old guard GOP jerks. But "test the water" Pawlenty and "balancing budget" Ryan are both capable, personable, and either would be a considerable improvement over Obama. Either might be a tough sell with all of the "sell out GOP pols" in the wings.

Obama has teleprompted us to death but is he truly intelligent? I think not! He's done one stupid thing after another since he took office.

Yet I still don't think an independent or third party candadate can win?

"Twisting my knickers"?

I'd say quite succinctly: yes indeed.

And Mr Obama just completely LIED again and again during his speech on Wednesday. Lies and more lies.

Yes, given, Newt ruined himself. Romney is too beautiful and too slick and his state healthcare killed his possibilities with the TEA Party.

Bump, regarding your final summation: you're ABSOLUTELY correct. No Independent or Third Party candidate can win.

Not this year, not the next cycle.

I completely agree.

And the Demorats are rubbing their hands together knowing that, first, most Americans are truly THAT stupid and, second, the GOP canNOT put together even ONE cogent candidate for opposition.

Where does that leave actual Conservatives? The TEA Party? I'd say: UCKED, with a capital F.
