(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is a complete, total and utter embarrassment. He does in fact either need to resign or be fired. Holding onto Gonzales at this point is a move in futility and exhibits poor decision-making. Bush: cut your losses. Now.

Not because of the firing of the eight US attorneys; that's the way the cookie crumbles.

But because the man is a complete incompetent and cannot even defend himself.

The lawyer firing never bothered me, but to think that this guy is the top LEGAL authority?? Amazing, simply amazing...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he really does look far too young to be suffering from senility. He can't seem to remember anything!

Fred: that's my issue also. There was NOTHING wrong with the firings. Neither Bush nor Gonzales came out firing with both barrels and insisted on CONTINUOUSLY making the comparison between 8 attorneys and the ENTIRE sweep of the AG office under Clinton. Jesus Mother and Mary, does this administration have ANY concept as to how to fight back and BEHAVE in POLITICS?

If you DON'T know how to PLAY THE GAME and aren't interested in PLAYING POLITICS BACK, then why in the hell even get involved?

I am astonished that he isn't talking about this being a common action for most administrations of both parties. He could defend himself so easily if he just wanted to.

The first mistake made was when Bush admitted they made a mistake when they didn't. They walked into the libs' trap and now they are caught.

I must respectfully disagree that Gonzales should step down.. Not now anyway.

I want this atty flap to be shoved down the libs' throat when it is shown this was nothing but a political play.. Then later we can get to whether or not Gonzales is worth keeping. If he were to quit now it would be like saying 'uncle' to the bully libs.

I mean, the next thing to do is for Bush to say: "Oh, gee guys, I am sorry, Dick and I will just step down and Pelosi can lead". We didnt' do anything wrong, but we are sorry anyway and you know, the battle isn't worth it, so we will just resign"..

On a side note: The republicans aren't going to do SQUAT about the Pelosi's road trip to Syria, and Reid's latest heinous comments.. NO>>> The libs are never held accountable for their wrong actions, yet BUsh and his administration are held accountable for things they didn't do.
It is just crazy!

Shoprat & Revka (hey, GREAT to hear from you Rebecca!!): they did in fact make NO mistake, and that is what is so incredibly frustrating! They did nothing but manipulate politics in the fashion that politics is meant to be.

The problem is: keeping Gonzales does nothing but enforce the belief that Bush has no power. And in truth, if you have power and don't know how to wield it, or cannot do something as simple as EXPLAIN YOURSELF in the light of day -- well, I have no use for you whatsoever.

COMMUNICATE. What a concept.

He does come off as kind of a wimp ... but you do have to wonder how he made all the way to the top like that. I would have thought severe butt kissing would only move you up on the LIEberal side.

ABF: he was apparently a SkinJob: looks good on his face: Mexican melanin, Mexican name, been involved in prior politics. Until he was actually ASKED to PERFORM.

Did anyone, besides myself, note that AG sounds, vocally, like an 8th grader?

Yeah, I haven't really been watching, but what I've read about the adminstration response to criticism and Gonzales' comments ("Mistakes were made," indeed) have really irked me. The whole thing is so freakin' embarrassing.

This could've been handled really easily by not apologizing for it. Gonzales and the U.S. Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President and are routinely hired and fired for political reasons.

If Gonzales is fired, will there be more hearings on why he was fired? Because that would be for political reasons, too.
