Bloviating Zeppelin: So?

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

So?

You think the Demorats couldn't possibly be any worse than the worst of our GOP handful of Presidential candidates? A good idea to stay home on election day? You may want to consider this:
By now, everyone knows Rep. Charles B. Rangel is poised to introduce the “mother” of all tax reforms, the biggest and most expensive tax code overhaul since 1986. But what they don’t know is how the New York Democrat plans to pay the more than $1 trillion price tag — and that uncertainty is fueling rampant speculation from Capitol Hill to K Street.

Let's see; hmmm. How might that be paid? Wait a minute, I'm thinking, thinking. . .

Plus:

Clinton recently floated the idea of issuing a $5,000 bond to each baby born in the United States to help pay for college and a first home, but it immediately inspired Republican ridicule and she quickly said she would not implement the proposal.

She defended that decision yesterday, saying she is focusing on proposals with more political support and she is not formally proposing anything she can't fund without increasing the deficit: "I have a million ideas. The country can't afford them all."

Oh, sure we can. What's another series of fiscal deaths by a million paper cuts?

Ya know, I KNOW you're right, but the thing that scares me is this, suppose it IS Rudy or, God help us, McCain, hell, they may fall into lockstep with the goddamn Dems, those are 2 wild cards at best, that's ALL I am saying, and I am still pissed off about the ultimate screwing over we ALL got by trusting Bush, yeah he maybe was better than Gore or Kerry but he still wasn't worth a shit...

This nation and our people deserve SO much better than the lesser of 2 evils...

the democrats are going to shoot theirselves in the foot before election day it seems, why the hell would they talk about raising taxes thru the roof during an election, all this is giving the gop a lot of good ammunition when the primaries are over. all they have to do is play back these brilliant ideas hillary is spouting now to turn public sentiment around, maybe this early campaigning is a good idea because it looks to me like the liberals can't keep their masks on that long.

Republicans will do well to nominate a conservative, but, they always end up compromising and nominating the globalist/ centrist. Bush is a globalist, Bush's daddy is a globalist, and everbody knew full well they were globalists when the nominated them. if this keeps up conservatives really are going to have to start their own party, the republican leadership and the democratic leadership could easily fill in for each other as it stands. I Mean really, what's the difference between Clinton and Bush philosophically? both are determined to subjugate the US to the united nations someday, both like to spend lots of taxpayer dollars, Bush understands fiscal policy slightly better because he at least was in business once, unlike clinton, who is just a former lawyer from a shady law firm.

Republicans need to vote for a conservative!!!!!

TF: of course we get screwed; of course things are dismal. And because of it I can actually only see two ways out: 1. Violence thrust upon us again via terrorism from within, or 2. Violence upon the government by the people OR a national united revolution in terms of tax refusal, non-compliance with certain laws or strictures. Absent those very two shocking and critical actions I don't see the Quiet Citizens, those who OBEY laws, who PAY the freight, having the ability to perform sufficient actions to enact a major change. We are, in truth, too BUSY doing one primary thing: WORKING so that those in either GOVERNMENT or those parasites who suck from our labors and give back NOTHING may BENEFIT from our labors. And I really do not know how much longer we can keep this country on its current path of fiscal irresponsibility -- on both sides. The ONLY politician I've EVER heard speak OPENLY about budget cuts, restrictions, paring back, is Fornicalia Senator Tom McClintock -- who was running for Governor against Arnold and lost majestically.

And Mark, yes, I can only HOPE the Demorats KEEP shooting themselves in the foot. But will Hillary? Don't plan on it.

Here are some of the great R ideas from the recent past:
- banning internet gambling
- taxing internet gambling
- war on drugs
- going after intra-State trade
- supporting the expansion of eminent domain
- marginally decreasing taxes and then turning around and spending more
- creating the Dept of Homeland Security (are we secure yet?)
- creating a Director of National Intelligence (more oversight, less accountability and less INTEL)
- helping to cash-in on the 'Peace Dividend' in the 1990's because America didn't need a robust military
- privatizing security at Federal sites, including INTEL ones
- privatizing security for the State Dept and giving diplomatic immunity to same, which is unconstitutional when done by the Executive without Letters of Marque and Reprisal from Congress
- doing nothing on the cheap global arms trade to organizations who have said they are at war with America
- doing nothing on keeping banking accountable after: BNL, S&L Scandal, BCCI, Chinagate/Donorgate... so we can now have Hsu, Chatwal, Jinnah, Oto, Paul and a whole cast of other folks with 'grey money' show up AGAIN?
- how long has the R party had majorities in BOTH houses since the immigration reform of 1986?
- increasing payouts to big business via pork in multiple departments and agencies
- giving subsidies on water to companies hiring illegal aliens
- giving federal funds to companies that hire illegal aliens
- 'faith based initiatives' that should be funded by the American People as individuals from having smaller government and lower taxes
- continuing social security long after the wall of demographics can be seen and modest privatizing will not help
- thinking that insurance is a 'good way' to pay for health care when 60 years of that has demonstrated just the opposite
- increased trade with China has made people, not companies, there more free exactly how since 1972?
- increased trade with the Middle East improved liberty and freedom there exactly how since 1917?
- the federal government spent no funds to rebuild Buffalo, Chicago and San Francisco, so why Billions for New Orleans?
- after 9/11, why did it take dentists to extract a modest increase in the size of the armed forces?
- Incumbistan, ever hear of that?
- is $2 billion a year to Egypt worth the cost of peace? Do you really think Egypt would try to attack Israel *again* without that?
- Bill Frist wants to move State Dept spending on foreign aid so that it foreign aid, alone, goes above: State, Justice, Homeland Security, HUD, Energy, NASA, plus a slew of smaller things like GAO and EEOC

You know something, the R party has a huge problem: it will not stick to its word, hold its members accountable or pass the important things like *limited government*. Ronald Reagan, much revered, promised to do that.. and Dept of Education was seen as a prime waste/fraud/abuse thing stood up by the Democrats. He not only kept it but EXPANDED IT. Ditto the rest of the Federal Government. Not 'chainsaw Al' but the fertilizer company with loads of same to unload on the weeds..

Each of the R candidates suffers from multiple blindspots on that list and all of them are deadly to the US. Still that is a sieve compared to the negligence that the D party offers. My lovely choice is framing up to be: somewhat incompetent or grossly incompetent for the Presidential Election.

I will vote for any candidate that can keep Hillary out of office. But with that long list of problems that the R party has had while in the *majority* for most of it, do not come trying to tell me you have any idea on what is good for America. Best to play up the one or two things that you are semi-competent at and ditch the rest. There is a reason that Americans no longer vote and that this Presidential Election may see the first bare majority turnout, and may even dip into a sub-50% plurality for the first time EVER.

Do you know what a majorit of a plurality is called?

A minority.

We have had that in Congress for decades. And the Presidency for quite some time, also.

That is not 'leaving it up to the interested to decide': democracy is given legitimacy by the input of citizens via the franchise. Turning more Americans OFF means that you end up with marginalized, ideologically pure government that then shifts from 'for the common good' to 'for its own good'.

When citizens stop exercising their franchise, the message is loud and clear: you no longer represent them. We are getting the majority of the bribed, sycophants, ideologs, single-issuers, 'my way or the highway', brown-nosing voters that suck up to the two parties. This is not good for America, and the two parties need to stop acting like it IS good for America. This is debasement of democracy that leaves the military as the most trusted part of government.

I have some bad news for America: all other democracies that have had similar views soon stop being democracies.

And for that I fault the R and D parties completely. The 'big tent' isn't attracting folks because the food is spoiled as are those running the party. It is not a question of honey vs vinegar, it is sewage vs swampwater. You can have 'ideological purity' or you can have democracy.

Democracy is mean, nasty, inefficient, and prone to compromises. Clean and efficient government is the hallmark of dictatorships. The two parties have wanted more of the latter, not the former. Unfortunately the latter has problems, but they can be killed away for awhile... Mao did end the drug trade! Killed all the addicts, suppliers, pushers... and their families.

I will vote against Hillary so as to register my disdain for becoming a communist/fascist system quickly. I place ZERO trust in the other party, as a whole, as they are on the slow lane to the exact, same outcome.

I, for one, think it's time for another revolution. I'm fed up! But of course I just was treated to one of the most disgusting things I've heard about yet!

BZ, The Canadian Sentinel has a most horrifying post and links that prove men are performing faltio on one another in broad daylight, in public, in the streets of San Francisco. They may even be doing worse than that, but I could only stomach a couple of the pics. I was going to send you an e-mail but I don't have your address.

Here's a link to the post but I warn you, it will make your blood boil.
I think whatever decent people who still live in SF should evacuate and we should drop a bomb on the damned place! Perhaps you would like to post about this but I haven't the heart. It just took all the wind out of me!

AJ: I, heavy sigh, inherently know that you are correct. I still want to think that Conservatism stands for something, but I'm just not sure such an animal can exist publicly and acquire votes. The electorate simply wants too much mollycoddling, too much "gimme," too much of what it wants when it wants it. And LAWSUITS drive a MASSIVE amount of what we do in this society in terms of corportions and in terms of how we live and account for our day-to-day lives. I WANT to say I can reliably vote for someone on the GOP side but -- I am forced to, as Fred rightly acknowledges -- I must consider the person closest, despite any number of failings, CLOSEST to my own core beliefs.

I feel the frustration we ALL encounter is that that particular person, that searchful and needful goal is, year by agonizing year, drifting farther and farther away from us and, even more frustrating: we KNOW it.

Gayle: I'll check that site. Luckily I didn't have any lunch.

Gayle,

the queers were doing everything you can imagine and probably several things you can't in the street in front of everybody when I was living in the area in the early '80s. If perchance you were coming down Market st. some friday evening with kids in the car and got near castro st. you'd better put blinders on the kiddies if you didn't want them to see some fags dressed as nuns getting after it, so to speak right on the street corner. with a couple of cops watching the whole affair. san fransiscans simply don't give a shit about public decency or self respect, or morality of any kind other than do whatever feels good to ya.
