Bloviating Zeppelin: When Push Comes To Shove

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

When Push Comes To Shove

And the shove did occur, this time to both NY State Governor Eliot Spitzer and, by extension, to NY Senator Hillary Clinton. And the shove came not from their fellow politicians -- on either side of the aisle -- but by the CITIZENS of this country.

And there, people, comes the rub -- "DANGER, WILL ROBINSON" -- which I'll explain shortly.

You recall Governor Spitzer -- he of the recent "I want to give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants" fame. The spillover of this issue already rendered glazed the brains of many Demorats and Hillary's campaign handlers in particular (as I posted here). Wednesday he backed down from that idea:

I've concluded that New York state cannot conduct this program on its own," Spitzer said at a Capitol Hill news conference. "It does not take a stethoscope to hear the pulse of New Yorkers on this topic."

Translated: he heard your bitching. And that's just what he thinks of it: inconvenient, immature, bothersome bitching. YOUR bitching, YOUR whining. So it was time to blame anyone and everyone BUT himself:

To save face, Spitzer railed against the federal government for its inability to handle the illegal immigrant issue, saying it had "lost control of its borders. ... and has no solution to deal with it," he said.

It is clear that 70% of the residents of very liberal New York State, and 75% of the denizens of the entire United States think that handing out licenses to illegal immigrants is a vacuous idea.

Further, Spitzer discovered there is a "popularity" price to pay if you do something untenable against the will of the public:
The decision to wave the white flag was cemented as a Siena Research Institute poll released yesterday showed Spitzer with his lowest approval ratings ever - with just 25 percent of voters saying they would support his re-election if the vote were held today.

Translated: only when it affects me personally, politically, will I even remotely consider bending to the will of The People. I hope you sear that sentence into your brain, for I'm going to make another point, then make my ultimate point at the end. In the meantime, let me make these things abundantly clear:
  • The People of this nation do not like the idea;
  • 75% of all legal residents of the country, blue and red states combined, do not like the idea;
  • It is nothing more than a recipe for fraud;
  • Government-ENABLED fraud;

Further:
  • Legal Americans of all ages and stripes are tired of being Strangers in their own land;
  • Increasingly surrounded by people who do not speak their language;
  • Whose government is not insisting that its residents speak a common language;
  • Surrounded by those who believe their ability to get their ankles damp enables them to sweep into this nation unchallenged, refuse to assimilate, create groves of Mexican encampments in our cities where only Spanish is spoken and only Mexican customs followed;
  • With an entitlement attitude;
  • Behind a wall of racist Reconquista rhetoric

People, we say we can't do things, that we're ineffectual but, trust me, we are NOT. It is a public groundswell that had massive affects on:

- The Harriet Miers issue;
- The Dubai Ports issue;
- The nomination and support of Roberts and Alito;
- The elimination of the illegal immigrant amnesty bill;
- This week, the halting of driver's licenses for illegal immigrants.

And now, my final point -- doing what I call the "logical extension."

BECAUSE the Conservative elements have BEEN effective, BECAUSE the line-level Conservatives have LEARNED how to communicate, BECAUSE we communicate so quickly and so effectively due to blogs, because of the internet, because of online magazines, because of e-mail and because of TALK RADIO, then:
  • EXPECT THAT THERE WILL BE A REDOUBLED EFFORT TO REMOVE YOUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH,
  • TO INSTIGATE FURTHER "HATE SPEECH" RESOLUTIONS,
  • TO RE-KINDLE THE SO-CALLED "FAIRNESS DOCTRINE",
  • and then APPLY THOSE STRICTURES TO ALL THE AREAS WHERE WE SUCCEED in terms of communications.

Mark my words, ladies and gentlemen, you have not yet begun to see the impending massive and concerted Demorat and Left assault on our freedoms enumerated above.

This was a public failing and slapdown of Eliot Spitzer in combination with Hillary Clinton.

Because of our efficacy.

Expect the other shoe to fall.

And then there is Spitzer's attempt to do the #1 thing sure to earn him ire of NY State voters: tax internet sales at a rate higher than most of the State pays outside of NYC.

Tax rebellions start when government attempts to interpose unilateral taxes without the consent of the governed. We had a revolution over that. The tax situation in NY was already heading up when I left the place and they want to get their grubby hands on *anything* that is in the State.... even your pension if you try to *leave* the State - they wish to tax *that* at the NY rate because, you know, you once lived there. Mind you there are Constitutional problems with wanting to do same, particularly for overseas transactions which, with the aid of modern electronics, can happen at the Walmart checkout if they ever gamed the system on that.

The Leftists in control of the 'base' of the Democratic Party intend that for *everyone* along with illegal immigrants getting 'a fair deal' and not bothering to enforce any laws that further put society at risk, but enforcing ones that create 'social engineering spaces'. I am not enamored of these from the Left or Right, along with wanting to bankrupt the economy with 'health insurance'. I have run out of candidates that are viable as they *all*, without exception, support one of these things and they are each long term losers for the Nation. Long term meaning: at the end of 4 years we will be worse off than we are *now*.

Breads & Circuses, plus a hard demographic jolt to the Nation along with bankrupting views, added in with higher taxation on everything to PAY for these things is what we are heading towards.

If you vote for an incumbent of *either party* then do pull up the mirror and face the problem. This asinine set of outlooks would not be there if people just threw the bums out of office every couple of election cycles... apparently each of us is so addicted to the largesse of living off of our fellow man that we can't be bothered with doing that. Witness what you get in return, as thanks, from the political class: dictatorial and authoritarian ideas about how *you* should lead your life now that *you* depend on Big Government.

You want 'universal health insurance'? Pay up with your freedom of speech and the freedom to decide what to do with your body. Bureaucrats will decide those things much better than YOU can... For each of the 'entitlements' of government, we get disenfranchised, our liberty put at risk and our freedoms diminished.

Thank you to the two party system which sees this as a winning combination. Yeah, neither gets exempted in this: they are both in on this by the politics of bribing the population to stay docile and shoving their society down our throats. And we need look no further than Saudi Arabia, Iran, Burma, Pakistan, Venezuela and quite some few other Nations that take the view of deciding for the people and enforcing it to see where it leads. As the USSR is not around to be a role model, these other ones will now do for the Emirs of Incumbistan.... where the State determines your health, your politics, your religion, and gives you crumbs and convinces you that letting others do your work is a *good thing*.

That is our future you didn't vote for... because you don't vote. And that state of affairs will soon be mandated. Count on it.

BWH: some folks laugh, but it REALLY imbues this fact: when the people are UNITED, the people have POWER.

AJ: and this country, in my opinion, is not terribly far from a tax rebellion if the 2008 course is Demorat. I really don't suspect the general public has ANY clue as to what's in store for them with regard to taxes because, for Demorats, EVERY SOLUTION revolves ONLY around MORE MONEY thrown at an issue. "If only we had more money!"

And SO true: "You want 'universal health insurance'? Pay up with your freedom of speech and the freedom to decide what to do with your body. Bureaucrats will decide those things much better than YOU can... For each of the 'entitlements' of government, we get disenfranchised, our liberty put at risk and our freedoms diminished."

Go ahead electorate; eat your government cheese.

Ditto to Big white hat!

Blo, I wonder if the Clinton Crime family pushed him into changing his mind as well? I do think the major push was from the people, but I often wonder if ole' Hildabeast stalin may have ordered him to do it.

However, as opposed to the GOP, the Demorats won't take this defeat sitting down. I truly do expect there to be greater shouting for the Fairness Doctrine and the like.

If they keep doing something like this their "dream election year" in 08 is going to go up in smoke.
