Bloviating Zeppelin: OIL: Socialism FIRST

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

OIL: Socialism FIRST

This is getting beyond ridiculous, beyond any point of rationality, beyond any acceptable sense of reason. From PowerLine (and please read the entire link):

Today (Wednesday) Congressman John Peterson offered an amendment in the Appropriations Committee to ease federal restrictions on exploration of the outer continental shelf, which contains enormous reserves of both oil and natural gas. The Democrats defeated the Peterson amendment on a 9-6 party line vote, demonstrating, as Minority Leader John Boehner said, "cold indifference toward the problems of typical families and businesses in their congressional districts and across the country." House Republicans intend to continue forcing votes on proposals to liberate our economy by developing our domestic oil and gas resources.

That means the ability of the US to drill for oil from 50 to 200 miles from our sovereign coasts was DEFEATED along a strict party line on Wednesday -- EVERY Demorat voted against the amendment.

Further, FoxNews wrote:

He (Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.) continued: "Whether it's shutting down domestic exploration in large areas both onshore and offshore, instituting a moratorium on oil shale development, increasing the gas tax, or refusing to pursue coal to liquids, Democrats long ago implemented a 'gradual adjustment' on gas prices that's reflected today in the $4.05 Americans are paying for a gallon of gas."

That means the Demorats couldn't care less about your "pain at the pumps."

Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin says, about ANWR: http://www.anwr.org/content/view/96/

They couldn't care less about you.

They couldn't care less about me.

They couldn't care less about the single mother with the 1989 Pontiac who has to drive 35 miles to work. Who can't afford to relocate 30 miles closer to work. Who is currently paying $4.28 per gallon for gas in Fornicalia. And works 5 or 6 days a week, 8 to 10 hours per day, who spends an hour commuting every day. Not because SHE created the circumstance -- but because she is simply dealing with what is.

They couldn't care less about the individual entrepreneur, such as my ex-girlfriend, who drives a Subaru Outback thousands and thousands of miles in order to service her extended districts because she is a factory rep of numerous kitchen and bath manufacturers, and the job requires her physical presence in many showrooms, and her success depends upon serving these accounts, many miles apart, in a timely fashion.

They couldn't care less about the independent truckers, those who pay a minimum of $100,000+ for a tractor and, at current local Fornicalia rates, $5.20 per gallon for diesel fuel. An average 150-gallon aluminum saddle tank, times 2, at $5.20 = $1,560 per fill.

Everything is brought by truck to a final point, ultimately.

And by rail. The average EMD SD-70M locomotive possesses a 4,000-gallon fuel tank per loco and, to fill this at $5.20 per gallon, would = $20,800.00 It is not uncommon for the average train to have three to four locomotives. So a lashup of, for example, 3 older EMD SD40 locomotives would = a consumption of 40' per gallon.

I paid 25-cents a gallon in 1971, for my 1966 Ford Fairlane 4-door 289. And trust me: GAS WILL BE THE POLITICAL ISSUE COME NOVEMBER.

John McCain had best realize that right now.

Because the Demorats want to force you.
  • They want to force you out of your suburban homes.
  • They want to force you into cities and densely-populated clusters, into apartments -- and smaller ones at that.
  • They want to push you out of your vehicles -- any personal vehicles -- and into any and all forms of mass transit.
  • They want to tell you what you may eat or ingest;
  • They want to tell you what to wear;
  • They want to tell you what to say;
  • They want to tell you what to write;
  • They want to tell your children what to learn;
  • They want to tell you what to think;
  • They don't want you to have the standard of living that you do and, implicitly, the FREEDOMS THAT YOU DO.
But please allow me to state this unequivocally:

  • In terms of oil and petroleum:
  • It isn't about SUPPLY,
  • It's about PRODUCTION and the LACK thereof.
The oil exists. There are massive amounts of fields that we have 1. Not yet found and 2. Not yet exploited or 3. Could not render due to lack-of-technological ease.

But the technology and the emphasis now exists to tap resources heretofore thought to be without our access.

We CAN DO.

Politically, we have CHOSEN NOT to do. Including McCain -- who has CHOSEN NOT to tap oil reserves in ANWR -- the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, completely verboten per the Left.

It is as simple as that.

It's kind of a shame Republicans didn't nominate a conservative this year, because this could have been a great election year debate! but, it's a great election year debate that won't happen, because BOTH candidates agree wholeheartedly about this issue, both want ABSOLUTELY NO DRILLING OF OIL taking place here in the US. SAVE THE PLANET!! KILL OFF SOME OF THE POPULATION!! or at least make them live in grass huts.

Perhaps if we agree to hire the chinese to drill our oil, like they are about to be doing off the florida coast, where absolutely no Americans will be involved in those cheap, oil production jobs no Americans want to do, maybe congress will be agreeable to it!

Ted: I'm with you -- I'd LOVE to see Palin as V.P.

Mark: maybe we can hire Mexicans on wooden drilling platforms -- they'd outdrill the Chinese.

Remember: drilling today means production in 5 years and sustained production in 10.

The fun thing is that Mexico hasn't been doing marginal expansion of their oil and gas fields because of... yes... environmental laws.

Lovely, no?

BZ,
VERY well said. The libs DO NOT care about the little guy. THey are such decievers. It makes me sick how they go around leading their constituents on about how caring they are of the hurting. How they care about the single mom struggling to survive. The mom who can't pay her health care bills.. BUT they REFUSE to mention how she can barely pay for gas.

I could go on.. grrrrrr..

AJ: yes, acknowledged, we are SO behind the power curve. But we either start NOW or we get FURTHER behind the ability to help ourselves.

Looks like we're going to get further behind, BZ, since neither Obama or McCain are going to do anything about it. Would someone please corner McCain and talk some sense into him?

We are going to have riots in the streets if the cost of gasoline goes much higher.
