Dead; Very Dead

My HP laptop confuser at home has died. Okay; the truth? A sticky, darker beverage got knocked onto the open keyboard and >click< -- it perished. I tried mopping, drying, tipping, blowing air. Once plugged in again: dead. Just dead. My favorite computer; it's 17" screen was simply fabulous. Luckily, I backed up onto an external hard drive recently.

Therefore, there were no posts for the past few days.

I'll be back on board with posts on Wednesday.

In the meantime, any recommendation from you, dear readers, as to the brand of a nice 21" flatscreen monitor? I'm resurrecting an older desktop PC that I'd set aside for a few years, but I definitely wish to upgrade from my blocky, ancient CRT to a very nice, sharp flatscreen.

Any suggestions?

BZ

I am sure you were hacked by an Obama supporter.

I would suggest anything with APPLE on it.

I also would suggest that you refrain from drinking around your new computer

go to pricewatch.com, use the link to monitors, then use the filter links to find what you want at the best price. they had some real good deals on 22in. monitors a minute ago.(about 200 bucks!)
one of my favorite toy stores is newegg.com, they have great service and good prices. i usually get my goods here in arkansas in two days from them.

Oh ya the monitor. I have a ProView widescreen. It works fine and the price was in the reasonable range as far as I was concerned.
I do not own stock in Pro view or any thing else like that yada yada yada legalese more legalese small print.

For all our progress, you'd think these machines could resist 3 things.

1) A power surge

2) an EMP

3 A glass of water.

I use a widescreen 22 inch Samsung for my desktop, but it is almost totally useless for work. It is cool for games but it sucks for anything else. Stick to a small (11 to 12 inch) laptop for that.

Oh sheez!! What kind of drink set fire to your laptop?? Sheesh.. That looks really bad. No advice for you on the laptop front. My husband is into all of that stuff. I may ask him.

Any suggestions on any specific brand of flatscreen? Yes, sooner or later I'm going to get my Apple, but for now I'm searching for a new flatscreen to fit my desktop PC (which I'm having dusted off, re-examined, refurbished a bit). I'm trying to find a flatscreen that approximates the incredible quality of my former HP 17" laptop screen.

Does such an animal exist as a stand-alone monitor?

Wish I could be of help, but all I can give you is my sympathies. Am out of touch with latest computer models and tech.

I, myself, have no internet access, as my modem is down. I think I have time to take it in for replacement tomorrow. But it's been a sucky few days without easy access to the internet.

Good luck with your replacement.

Thank you. Sorry for the schadenfreude, but somehow it is heartening to know I'M not the only one on a stupid modem.

For a work flat screen and simple 15 inch one or a 19 inch flat should do well. As for brands, I think Samsung, Asus or HP should be good. For games however, a 22 inch one may be more in order.

The only monitor I've bought recently was for the kumputr I built for the wife a year of two ago, I got this one
and it's clear bright, and best of all, cheap. the built in speakers are crap, but I was happy with the view.

BZ, I'm using a Widescreen monitor and I love it, although it's a 22" screen instead of 17". It's a
HPw2207h Widescreen Flat Panel Moniter with BrightView Panel.
