(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

History Proves: EnviroRegulations Kill Commerce, Jobs, And Force Costs To Skyrocket

Regarding Cap & Tax, I posted about my Congressman, Tom McClintock, pointing out the ruination of Fornicalia due to the passage of AB 32 (Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006). Mr McClintock said, in part:

What is it that happened in January of 2007? AB 32 took effect and began shutting down entire segments of California’s economy. Let me give you one example from my district. The City of Truckee, California was about to sign a long-term power contract to get its electricity from a new, EPA-approved coal-fired electricity plant in Utah. AB 32 and companion legislation caused them to abandon that contract. The replacement power they acquired literally doubled their electricity costs.

A study conducted by Sanjay Varshney and Dennis H. Tootelian concludes:

Our study released today finds that small businesses in California will pay an additional $49,691 as a result of the California Air Resources Board’s implementation of AB 32. The study, which we conducted at the request of the California Small Business Roundtable, analyzes the potential economic impacts of AB 32 on the state of California, its consumers and its small businesses.

Go here to view the study itself. Further:

Our report reveals that when the plan is fully implemented, California families will be facing increased annual costs of $3,857 and that in order to cope with the increased costs generated by the Greenhouse Program, consumers will be forced to cut their discretionary spending by 26.2%. We conclude that when California’s climate change program, AB 32, is fully implemented, the average annual loss in gross state output from small businesses alone would be $182.6 billion, approximately a 10% loss in total gross state output. This will translate into nearly 1.1 million lost jobs in California. Lost labor income is estimated to be $76.8 billion, with nearly $5.8 billion lost in indirect taxes. This decline in revenues will have a severe impact on future state budgets.

Fornicalia has certainly set the pace all right -- in terms of economic collapse -- promulgated by its ruling Demorats.

And now, national Demorats wish to precisely emulate Fornicalia's demise with the passage of Waxman-Markey (HR 2454), clearly having learned nothing from Fornicalia's experience and, moreover, purposely wanting not to learn from history.

The study proves that those who demanded passage of AB 32 lied in terms of economic and business costs:

The study’s cost analysis was based on the California Air Resources Board’s own findings, which revealed significant cost increases. The study’s findings are consistent with the Peer Review analysis commissioned by CARB, the Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) review of the Scoping Plan and an analysis conducted by the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC). These independent analyses concluded that the cost of the AB 32 Scoping Plan would be significant, and that CARB had significantly underestimated these costs.

You think the Pushers of Waxman-Markey are any different?

Now there is no doubt. Cap & Tax WILL hammer the final nail into this country's economic coffin.

This plan is the singlemost retarded thing I have ever heard of in my life. And I've heard of a lot of stupid things.

I cannot believe that the government has diverged so much from what the people actually want and or need. I cannot believe that they are trying to raise taxes in our state, further depleting our pocketbooks in one of the most expensive states already. And I cannot believe that the estate tax takes 45% of a person's estate after they are dead.

All of this is robbery, theft, rape plain and simple. I am beside myself with grief for our nation and feel powerless in many ways.

Whoever told me that my vote matters seems to have lied to me because if it did, then our elected officials would listen to me and every other American.

There is a fine line between sedition and true patriotism when you are living in times such as these.

Mahndisa: it ABSOLUTELY is theft and rape, plain and simple. It's THE primary reason for driving businesses out of our state, Fornicalia.

And that fine line? Oh, yes.

ObamaKare is every bit as egregious. It will be run with the same love, consideration, concern and efficiency as V.A. HOSPITALS (Walter Reed, anyone?) and MEDICARE. Or the same love, consideration, concern and efficiency of your local DMV.

OMG, you only have to drive over the hill to Reno for the Gunblogger's Rendezvous! C'mon man! :-) Hell you probably don't even have to stay overnight in the stinky Silver-whatsis Hotel. God I hate hotels.

bz, as a small business owner in fornicalia, i can attest to the accuracy of all that you've written. it's disgusting that these idiots can't do simple math and figure it out. and now to have it forced on the rest of the u.s. is mind-boggling.

go meg.

Obama does not give a rip about you or me or an other person. It's all about all the wealth and power in America being concentrated into his greedy little hands.

If ever a president needed to put on trial for treason this one is it.

"Those that don't remember history are condemned to repeat it"

30+years ago California started on this journey.. This is the outcome of our nation should FEDZILLA continue on the current path.

The IOU's are being laughed at by the banks, next step food riots, race riots and then Armed conflict in the streets.

One reason that our economy is in the dumper is that folks just don't have much discretionary income to spare right now.

Now, some people have managed to save a few dollars by limiting their discretionary spending. But Cap and Trade, and like measures, will come along and steal that savings.

Looks to me as if our so-called leaders are deliberately doing everything possible to ruin America's economy. They'll blame Bush, of course. **snerk**

The fact that California is in this mess is not unbelievable, because for about a century they gave away everything to everyone (like college education and health care), but, gosh I hate to see it. Such a beautiful place. The state I would prefer to be in more than any other. How does a state like California screw up so pitifully?

Yay! If you fell like a run over the hill, Mr. Copmpletely (who shoots steel, maintains the Rendezvous site, and has a registration form here. If you don't want to spend the night (and like drivin') I'm sure it doesn't matter.
The main thing is relaxing among new friends with common interests. Hangin' out in the Hospitality Suite swapping lies, meeting fun and smart (including some NRA reps, and Larry from Brownells) - and at some point goin' shootin' - to which this year are added a few new venues instead of only going out to the Washoe County Range near Pyramid Lake and trying to hit the steel drum at 900-yards. That's Joe's main thing since he runs the Boomershoot. :-) I believe we';re going to try and run a mini "steel-challenge." I'll have to give it a try since I'm 99% a rifle guy and don't know from pistolas. ;-)
And better yet it's in September (10-13) so it *probably* won't be freakin' SNOWING!
Para is donating a pistol to the raffle,Hi-Point is donating one of their new, as-yet-un-announced carbines, and Kevin of The Smallest Minority is personally donating a Para GI Expert 1911 to the raffle. I'm bringing along an autographed Heller Kitty t-shirt that Alan Gura who argued Heller before the Supreme Court (and won) signed - and oh yeh, he's gonna be there too. The NSSF as co-sponsor has agreed to pick up the tab for the "All you can eat" Pizza feed on Saturday night, and Glock is a sponsor too.
Sorry for the comment hi-jack.
It's really not only for Gunbloggers, anybody who likes to shoot and supports the 2nd Amendment is welcome. And their friends. And probably people who like Locomotives, (which are awesomly cool) too. :-)

The States as the great labratory of democracy... so that the National government can take the worst, most unworkable plans and promulgate them everywhere! You get universal health care in places like MA and it doesn't work so it must be fit for the rest of the Nation! Ditto cap'n'tax.

And with so much money flowing TO the Incumbistani Parliament in DC local governments will NOT have the money to keep up their roads, water mains, sewage lines, electrical infrastructure, natural gas lines... all of which is falling apart and needs local administration to deal with it, NOT money going to DC to get pennies back on the dollar.

Liberals need to understand the Theory and Practice Conundrum and stop practicing theory... it just doesn't work.
