Bloviating Zeppelin: Sarah Palin To Step Down As Governor

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Sarah Palin To Step Down As Governor

Sarah Palin announced today that she will be stepping down as governor of the state of Alaska, effective July 26th.

The Lt. Governor will step up into place at that time.

Some are indicating that Sarah Palin wants more time with her family. Others are saying that she's turning to concentrate more fully on preparations for a 2012 presidential run.

I suspect that, at least initially, she's done with the potshots at her family and herself by those in the media and in government. I suspect this is more a personal decision than it is a strategic decision.

I don't see too many viable candidates lining up on the GOP side for 2012. If she truly has withdrawn from politics completely, I find that disconcerting. I am sorry to see her give up the fight and allow wrong-headed forces to prevail. I believe, however, that I understand her reasoning.

Thank you Jesus, we don't need another Chicken-Shit in the White House.

See there is a God.

She's probably pregnant or about to get busted for an affair, she is a Born-Again and affairs seem to be part of their journey.

Maybe with a women, God damn are those pictures going to be something to see.

What a bizarre rambling press conferences. She's a quitter. She was elected to do a job and she is quitting to capitalize on her celeb status so she can spend more time making money for herself. Whether she will use this for a run in 2012 remains to be seen but I smell another Katherine Harris.

She is a shameless goldigger with limited intelligence and she's making her bucks while she can.

Anonymous: question for you. I understand your opinion. But how is it you think she's a "gold-digger" and, also, how is it that she can "make bucks" from this? I don't grasp the fiscal gain to be made from this, by her. How will she benefit financially from this announcement?

She can make mega bucks in speaking engagements. She has a book deal. She can't be paid for these as long as she is Governor. She is abdicating her responsibilities to make money. Golddigger.

She is stupid and her selection as VP gave her a head that is way too big. Too bad she is leaving, her presence ensured the GOP as inconsequential.

But...the latest news is a big scandal is brewing. Well, she is unethical and was already charged as such.

I don't care for Palin at all. However, I do feel it was utterly wrong for Letterman and others in the MSM to talk badly about her kinfolk. It is the tackiest shit to go for the jugular and demean someone's children. I am sensitive to this because I am a Mother now, and some stuff just ain't right.

Whatever she chooses to do, I hope she is successful at it. I'm sure she will make money at her book ventures etc and good for her. If she ran for President in 2012 though, I wouldn't vote for her. Then again, I don't know who'd I vote for!

As others have said before, Anonymous = Coward. I've no tolerance for leftists that hide behind anonymous postings.

Interesting that the coward attacks her motives when no one has any idea why she is doing it, yet.

Personally, I'd have voted for her in a NY minute. She has a solid conservative record and is the genuine article. Middle class roots with a grounded background. At least she has had the guts to fight and get so much accomplished in her state. If she believes that it is best for her to step aside for her family, I understand that. The constant attacks on her family since last September have been so putrifying as to make anyone, save perhaps the cowardly anonymous, puke.

Personal note: If anyone came after my family like they did hers, I'd have been wearing quite a few ears on a string.

All those folks that said their vote for McCain was actually a vote for Palin, what's on your mind now?

People, I am telling you, if Sarah Palin is the best the GOP can offer up, the GOP is fucked!! And we will be stuck with the likes of Obama for a very long time!

You guys show such disgust over her family being attacked but you conveniently forget he disgusting Obama hate rallies. She's a media whore, and stupid. She got what she deserved.

If she didn't want her family attacked she should have kept them off the World Stage.

Sarah Palin a quitter? you betcha!

If she's running in 2012 she should have stayed on and shown the World what kind of a leader she is, Instead she through the fine folks of Alaska under the bus for personal and political gain.

She's pathetic.

Rananda, what a really nasty comment, really nasty and so hypocritical. "part of their journey!!!" Glad the leftwingers never do this. Kennedy KILLED A LOVER, RANANDA, you ignore THAT?
Clinton LIED IN OUR FACES after admitting he had sex with a young girl right after church services. THEY are hypocrites, Republicans are typical lousy fallen jerks who couldn't live by the honorable rules they strive to live by.
And, they didn't lie. Edwards? Having a child by another when his wife's ill with caner? NICE Democrats ..bad Republicans? (according to the media, YES)
Republicans and Christians are no better than anybody else and they don't say they are, but at least they strive to be good.
See, there IS a God. Whether you like it or not.

Anonymous...family didn't know? Todd Palin got there from his commercial fishing business to SUPPORT HER..or was that an amazing coincidence. Or did they take that family vote two minutes before they just conincidentally gathered there?

I, too, think she looks like a quitter; but I think quitting isn't in her lexicon.
She's fresh, her handlers said she was brighter and a faster learn during the campaign than anybody they'd worked with ever and she loves this country....no WONDER the leftwingers despise her.
For a simple Alaskan governor, the leftwingers sure are scared...you can see it here! THE GLEE...

Except she's going nowhere...she's going to write a book and make a ton of money, none of which can ever pay her back for the unbelievable nastiness the left's thrown at her and the lawsuits, none of which she lost but all of which she has to pay for her defense for now...half a million dollars is what she said.

Ya, she deserves to get out and start whatever new life she wants to.

Ranandao! I laughed aloud at your last comment...Kept her family off the stage? Care to picture the leftwinger comments THEN, "she's HIDING THEM" "WHAT"S UP WITH THAT" "WHAT KIND OF POLITICIAN LEAVES HER FAMILY AT HOME"? I love that stuff..keep it coming!!

UNETHICAL? She hasn't lost ONE CASE yet.

The woman, in my opinion, was wrong to step down, but we'll never know all the truth behind it and it'll be great to see what happens next. I'm no huge fan but I admire ANY woman who has this much guts and who's done that much good for her state.

This should get good. If she's SO unthinkable as a candidate. why the HUGE HATE and ATTACKS!?
what a laugh. Be scared, folks...all Sarah needs is a couple of years and she'll be so far above any other politician in knowledge and, then, when she appeals to the young dopes who got duped into voting for THE ONE, THE ONE will be TOAST.

wait for it. Then we can save this country...finally.

If she wasn't a threat, if she didn't represent a relatively untapped power source, if she didn't have the potential to be a huge political force in America -- then, obviously, she would have been simply placed on Ignore Mode. She frightens the Left to the point where, even AFTER her VP run and she'd gone back to Alaska -- she had to be the subject of attacks both public and private.

BZ,
*
On this one we must disagree.
*
For me, as soon as I heard her say that God leads her I knew what she was all about.
*
Writing for the Daily Beast, Max Blumenthal pinpointed a burgeoning story that may be the source of the rumblings in Alaska:
*
Many political observers in Alaska are fixated on rumors that federal investigators have been seizing paperwork from SBS in recent months, searching for evidence that Palin and her husband Todd steered lucrative contracts to the well-connected company in exchange for gifts like the construction of their home on pristine Lake Lucille in 2002. The home was built just two months before Palin began campaigning for governor, a job which would have provided her enhanced power to grant building contracts in the wide open state.
*
All someone has to say to me is, "Have a Blessed Day" and I can tell you all there is to know about that person. Most likely a Liar, a Cheat and a Thief.
*
Anyone that has to tell you how religiouse they are don't get my backing. I've dealt with these phonies my entire life and I put them right up there with Muslims, disgusting and pathetic people.
*
"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned; yet we have not advanced an inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth." —Thomas Jefferson
*
I celebrate this 4th knowing that another whack-job has been outed.

And to Z I respond....

You're correct about Liberals. We expect them to cheat on their husband and wifes that's a given. They don't preach High Moral Ground, they do it, openly and we deal with it.

The difference is we don't except people who do it in the name of God.

There are three possible explanations for this, none of which end with Sarah Palin in the White House.
*
The first is that Sarah Palin is really and truly sick of politics and has decided to hang up her spurs. It is disappointing to those of us who have stood by her, but it certainly isn’t a poor reflection on her personally. Not everyone is cut from the material that allows them to stand in front of the media glare that comes from running for national office, especially when the person in question is a Republican and their family comes into the crosshairs.
*
The second is that she has decided to focus immediately on running for President in 2012. This suggestion is not a serious one: any person with a whit of sense knows that resigning without even a full term completed takes her completely out of the equation. If she cannot finish a single term, or handle her national travel while finishing out her term, how can she combat the full force of the Obama machine? Only the most foolhardy or clueless would consider this the path that Palin is taking; it is thus no surprise to find Chris Cilizza peddling it as a viable theory. If it is true, it demonstrates that she lacks the political judgment to run a national campaign in any case.
*
The third is that there is another shoe that has yet to drop, whether scandal, undisclosed health or personal issue, or other. It is probably pointless to speculate on these matters until they become known: if another shoe is set to drop, then drop it will, and we should expect it soon. The longer time goes pasr without word of it, the less likely it is that it exists.

I do like Gov. Palin for what she did, but those that are mistaking her personality and what attention she has gotten with the place that we are now in are seriously, seriously misunderstanding where we are. I did write about this not listening to much of anyone nor reading anyone before I did.

I cannot and will not put feelings about personality above my Nation. We are damned to a very hot place when we have so many who do that. If you let yourself be distracted by the damned MSM and what has been going on, then you are willingly being led to get your emotions involved and stop thinking. Once you do that, no matter your claim to a part of the political 'spectrum', you are then becoming one who is led, not making true choices out of all the choices we have has free people, but letting your choices be limited by others. As a culture and a people we will not survive with this continuing onwards.

Give those who despise liberty and freedom to handle to grab you by... do not let them play with your emotions... be civil in your outlook and hold by civility until your last breath. Or until you have to pull the trigger yourself. Lose your cool in combat and all is lost. You help no one in this Cold Civil War if you let your passions be manipulated. Think. Pick your target. Take aim. Keep your SA up and never, ever lose sight of the target. By being civil you demonstrate that we can BE civil towards each other... and nothing so enrages those trying to manipulate you by your emotions as being civil and keeping your cool.

It is damned hard work to be civilized.

And it all rests upon you. Only you can make yourself civilized. We are damned near the end of our civilization already without helping those who seek to tear down civil society by becoming as uncivilized as those attacking it are.

Ranando: of those three reasons you enumerated, I have to agree that they make the most sense. You and I may disagree on some things but I always allow there to be room for discourse here. And I must agree that those primary three items pose the best logic for the situation.

AJ: you're absolutely right. I myself need to step back and take a breath. Boy, do I need to step back and take a breath. Civility: yes, sir, you have knocked THAT one right outta the ballpark.

BZ,
I think it is a case of enough is enough. If I were her I would just wash my hands and walk away. I think that's what she's doing.

I don't think she had any idea what she was getting into with the political poison she was subjected to.

I don't know how anyone would want to get into politics in today's environment.

That's where we are nowadays. Scary, huh?

What does that poor woman have to do to shake the media off her tail? I have never in my life seen the buzzards chase after anyone as much as they do her. If someone went after my family like that they would be pulling little lead pellets out of their asses for weeks.
