(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Fornicalia Sleight of Hand: State Private Option Healthcare PASSES!

From the Just When You Weren't Looking, Dept:

On a vote of 22 to 14, the California State Senate today approved Senate Bill 810, which creates a government-run health care system, also known as single-payer health care.

Last week, the Senate Appropriations Committee voted to create a single-payer health system in the state. In a party-line vote (6-3), Democratic senators pushed through the controversial proposal, even after the non-partisan Legislative Analyst’s Office said the bill would cost California taxpayers at least $200 billion more a year.

Right. Perfect. At a time when Fornicalia is about to, once again, go broke:

SACRAMENTO — State Controller John Chiang issued a stern warning Friday about California's cash reserves, telling legislative leaders and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger they must act on nearly $9 billion in budget cuts the governor is seeking by March — or the state will run out of cash to pay its bills.

Without making those cuts — which Chiang says will pump $1.3 billion into the state's checking account — California would be broke by April 1, no fooling.

So, what part of STOP SPENDING don't Fornicalia's Ruling Demorats "get"? Why, that would be: ALL OF IT. They do NOT have any intention whatsoever of cutting back. They refuse to leave spending at current levels, much less reduce spending. Oh no.

Their plan, in the midst of an actual Recession -- on the precipice of a Depression -- is to add, literally, BILLIONS of dollars to Fornicalia's debt. It would make private healthcare actually ILLEGAL.

No, they don't care about what's been happening nationally. No, they haven't a clue as to the Temper of the Times. No, they don't read newspapers, blogs, monitor the internet, consider various polls or even watch television.

No. What's the answer to Fornicalia's massive debt?

MORE DEBT.

All of you assholes who voted for this must be clinically insane. I can conjure no other logical explanation.

BZ

P.S.
The one potential "positive"? Governor Schwarzenegger has indicated he'll cast a veto here.

Adrift in a sea of red ink CA gets an idea of where dry land might be and then turns away from it to steam out into the open ocean of red...

Too bad that was the last of the fuel on board they used to do that.

And the bilge pumps are out.

Will the last person to leave CA please pay off the debt?

Why not full steam ahead? The demo-rats will just ask for a federal bailout.

Note to normal people in CA, Tar, feathers...

Politicians will never stop spending, it's in their nature ... unless of course the people start kicking them out of office.

It's the only way to get their attention.

PD: hey, you check your phone recently? Removed the cover to look inside? And that small dark spot on the lamp, what IS that anyway??

AJ: last person out couldn't afford a minute of Fornicalia's debt.

Toaster: because the Fornicalia Controller at least has a spark of common sense.

Paul: that's what I think you're starting to see with all incumbents.

Sounds sorta like Illinois, although our single payer proposals have never gained enough traction to made it quite that far; who would that leave for they lawyers to sue?

I Long ago opted out of the state medical insurance programs because they never seemed to get around to paying the providers for services rendered. It's not like they reimbursed late on their insultingly low fee schedule, they flat out didn't pay. I suppose I could have continued to push but the hours required to work out the appeals would have left me with in the negative numbers.

Hold your nose and hope that Arnie does his thing.

I have a suspicion the Democrats in CA will be looking for "big brother" to bail them out soon! The Terminator needs to axe this one, and show his old self once more. Is CA still too big to fail, seems they are getting smaller and smaller with each passing day!

What's that saying about doing, and failing to succeed, but doing over and over in hopes of a different outcome?

Some places will never learn..

Guess they expected the rest of the country would bail them out.

Do you know if this single-payer plan is mandated? Guess it would have to be????

BZ,
I have a lot of relatives in Sacramento, Cal. I hope that the terminator grows a pair and vetoes it. If he doesn't we'll all pay for it. Literally.
