(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Dems & DEM: What Sticks, Parts I and II

Senator Russell Feingold (left, of course) introduced a resolution on Monday this week to censure President Bush for the NSA wiretapping issue. From Feingold's speech on his website:

The President authorized an illegal program to spy on American citizens on American soil, and then misled Congress and the public about the existence and legality of that program. It is up to this body to reaffirm the rule of law by condemning the President’s actions.

Never mind that Clinton tapped the crap when it served his purposes -- and Carter as well. This has been documented.

Never mind that the horrendous tapping involved terrorist activity with the goal being to protect this sovereign nation.

The bottom line from all this? The Democrats voted with their feet and stayed away from Feingold in droves -- instead of lining up in lockstep. Imagine that.

Unhappy with their proverbial feetsie-vote, Feingold took the Dems to task yesterday by saying: "Democrats run and hide" when the administration invokes the war on terrorism. Feingold also said: "I'm amazed at Democrats . . . cowering with this president's numbers so low."

In addition (now that it's apprent this strike isn't sticking as hoped) another Dem, Senator Debbie Stabenow (Michigan), hit the senate floor yesterday with a huge red sign that read "dangerously incompetent" while giving a speech attacking the Bush administration over first responder and Homeland Security funding.

Apparently unsatisfied by simply submitting a $5 billion federal funding increase, she felt compelled to grandstand with the sign and her statement: “God forbid that there is another terrorist attack or a natural disaster."

Keep it up Boys and Girls; keep it up. Whereas in truth it would have been simple work (at least in theory) to chew up the GOP and completely retake the House and Senate this year -- well, Dems, you're doing your damnedest to ensure no guarantee of that outcome.

I repeat: keep it up.

Hey Blo Zep:
I agree with you here. It seems like the dems will implode before the next election. Although there is fragmentation in the GOP, at least the talking points are consistent. The problem with the dems is that they have an inconsistent agenda meaning they have no real agenda at all.

Sort of like the electric field on the inside of a conductor; there are many local fields inside of the conductor, but they all orient themselves such that the total electric field cancels out. Hence the general rule; no E fields inside of a conductor. Why have I said this?

The dems are like a conducter; they have no overall field of influence INSIDE this country anymore.
Ha! BTW thanks for tolerating my silliness from time to time. Sure are glad you are back:)

All the dems have is inconsistency, alienation and victim rhetoric. I am saddened that their party has been taken over by fools. I don't know about you, but I look to vote for The Governator this upcoming election!

Dear Mr. Feingold - Who made you attorney, judge, jury and executioner?

And for abdication of YOUR duty to protect the Nation, perhaps you may ask why you deserve your position as you bleat while you keep the Republic at peril.

Mahndisa: If there were only ONE thing I learned from my college politics profs, it is this: "Democrats don't win elections; Republicans lose them." I my opinion it is true with general conservative and liberal politics as well. If the GOP folds, it will ONLY be because the GOP ALLOWED itself to fold. Look at how many "hits" the GOP and this president have taken. And still the ship floats. If it possibly can be hurled by the Dems, it has been and is BEING hurled. Not much is sticking; therefore the Dems are hoping for quantity and not quality. They are bereft of ideas hence what I term "BEREFT ON THE LEFT." The conductor simile is particularly spot-on!

Also, in terms of the Governator, yes, I will vote for him. But more importantly I believe installing Tom McClintock as LG is a HUGE step towards his run for Governor in a few more years.

AJ: Clearly, Feingold himself made that designation. And I truly believe, like you, that we work against ourselves, in public and in private, to our collective peril.

Neo: Kinda like Larry and his brother Larry! :^)

Bottom line: Feingold has placed it in the public venue, but the Dems aren't collectively buying.

I think it's a good move if they don't overplay their hand. This is what I posted on Robo:

The play is this: accountability and oversight. They could use this a national call to Congressional oversight and calling congress and the administration to be accountable for security, the budget, the war, domestic issues, an energy policy and a host of others. Use it a means to say Republicans control every branch of government and look at the mess we have. And why is that - because there is no checks and balance in government.

I think if they move along those lines and not towards impeachment, they will bring a lot of people along with them. This rubberstamp government isn't working and I think people realize that now.

There is a lot of risk to this approach but I think those who support Bush are on board no matter what and there is a large population like me who would never support this president - so it's really a play for those that have left the ranch. So, you're looking at maybe 10% or 15% of the voting population - I don't see the risk.

And November will come down to who can get their base out and convince discouraged folks to either stick or stay with the GOP.
