Bloviating Zeppelin: Pope Benedict's Warming

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Pope Benedict's Warming

You can place Pope Benedict XVI in the category of a Global Warming skeptic:

The leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering.

The German-born Pontiff said that while some concerns may be valid it was vital that the international community based its policies on science rather than the dogma of the environmentalist movement.

Of course, the Pope was immediately reviled for daring to suggest that facts somehow should manage to prevail over emotions, breast-beating and scare tactics. Wonkette said:
Pope Benedict XVI has decided to stick his little Nazi head directly up Al Gore’s peaceful ass by calling global warming fears nothing but “scare-mongering.”

Some of the more printable comments on this statement include:
  • He is just worried about that tax cut for no children thing. Needs more children to feast on.
  • Isn't the Catholic Church, and all organized religion in general, based on dubious ideology??
  • You son of a bitch, stab your crucifix into the souls of humanity just one more time. Come on, do it... it'll be like the good old days when you were marching up and down the streets wearing your swastikas.
  • ...I hate sharing this planet with these azzholes, don't you?
The comments went on and on. Did the comments deal with facts, with studies, with statistics, with science?

No. The responses immediately fell to personal and religious attacks.

Because, you see, that's all The Left possesses.

Isn't it odd that it's Open Season on Western Religions (Christianity) and the Catholic Church (specifically) whilst The Left insists we kiss the ass of Islam and prosyletize for Islam in our schools and society.

It's a shame that intelligent, honest people need to share the planet with left-wing idiots.

The Pope is a bit skeptical on the global warming issue thing huh??

Ya know, even a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while...

Catholics and Islamics, no comparison, the Catholics stopped murdering in the name of God a long time ago, they discovered Altar Boys and wine...

Call me an crazy but I don't see anything wrong with taking good care of our planet. Far-Left taking care of the planet, NO.

I will say this, FUCK the Catholic Church and every Pope in it. The day will never come that I would knell to this man or kiss his ring. Shit, I wouldn't piss on the best side of his face. I don't give a rats ass on what this person says.

I do put this church right up there with Islam.

The Catholic Church learned its lesson in the era of blood: the 30 years war. That war left between 15% and 30% of Europe dead due to warfare alone, separate from plagues and famine caused by it. That war ended with the Peace of Westphalia where the ability of individuals to worship as they believed, without the State interfering, was in 1648. A mere 128 years between that and the standing up of the Union to establish that principle and ensure that we adhered to Westphalia... less time than between our own Civil War and the present day. It would take time for the Spanish part of the Inquisition to finally be extinguished and ended... getting the signatories on all sides to uphold that Peace was difficult, but finally DONE.

Islam cannot do that as it is not centralized and dares not call barbarians as they are for fear of retribution by other factions inside their religion. Now the Pope stands before us, his religion admitting its since and has sought atonement for decades, so as to call those who wish to take society over by 'green agenda' as they are - tyrannical in wishing to impoverish their fellow man for fraudulent cause.

The Roman Catholic church asks for forgiveness in its sins... I have yet to hear word one of that from the entirety of Islam or any of its major parts or factions. I am willing to give forgiveness to those that recognize their wrongs and seek to atone for them... to those who do not: they get no quarter, no mercy, until they learn the meaning of civilization and that wrongs must be addressed and amended for because they were and are barbaric. To do elsewise is decadent and demonstrates our own decay from civilized views.

I will not forgive the religion of Islam, nor forget the deeds done in its name. In a century or two I may have a different view once it is demonstrated that the art of atonement to one's fellow man is learned as a fact of life.

AJ: I concur; there literally is NO comparison between the Catholic Church and Islam, none whatsoever!

It is as clear as daylight that most of foul mouthed commentators on this and other blogs have not read the Pope's actual speech. Go read his own words in the full context of this speech for Family Day. And stop calling everyone who grew up in Germany a Nazi and worse. It just shows up your immature, juvenile minds. Perhaps I should have said juvenile delinquent....

And again to Cathy, I re-read this entire comment string and Ranando was a bit graphic, but what the fuck, it happens, I saw NOWHERE that anyone used the word NAZI to describe the pope or anyone else from Germany...

You made a goddamned idiot of yourself in that fucking comment...

LMAO... AT Cathy...

Texasfred, you're quite right! No one here called the Pope a Nazi. I read that fulminating stuff on two other blogs just before I came here. I should have double checked. Sorry! Please accept my apologies.
But I stay with the foulmouthed comment. And I'm not Amy. Don't know him or her. I'm not even Catholic.
