Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

What Conservatives Need To Do, Part I

(BZ Note: This will be the first in a continuing series of posts contemplating the future of Conservatism and the Republican Party, the purpose of which shall be to not only identify key problems but, more importantly, plan and plot and suggest future paths in order to set this nation on a course of not only merest survival, but thrival, prosperity, admiration, respect and power.

If this can be done within the current GOP, all is well; if this requires the abandonment of the GOP and the creation of a Third Party, I say: so be it.

These posts and the comments solicited thereby, will exist as a public record, so to speak -- a stream of consciousness, if you will -- of the necessary steps I believe must be taken in order to not only save this nation, but keep it safe, prosperous, powerful and sovereign. No matter how many enemies align themselves against it.)

If there is anything that was revealed to me in the past, say, two years, it is this: I am a Conservative first, and a Republican, so clearly now, second.

It pains me to realize such a conclusion.

My party seems to have abandoned me. I didn't diverge from it; it diverged from me. I can only, now, think of a mere handful of Republican politicians worthy of the title.

Moreover, it seems to me that, with some somewhat massive but separate differences, the two major parties, Republican and Democrat, tend to blend together at their very foundations, their very bases:

- They seek nought but power;
- They are whores for money;
- They will cover their collective asses on both sides of the aisle when it affects all of them;
- They wish The Political System to NEVER be exposed to the Light Of Day;
- They each know they could never have achieved that amount of power, deference, respect, accommodation, in any other job or venue;

It's never about the salary; it's about the future power derived from the position.

And even then, I have had to reassess my Conservative views in the midst of numerous realities adjudged.

Your job, now? Because without you, my readers, my thoughts, ideas and suggestions are diminished beside yours.

Give me your FIVE top priorities for a Conservative agenda. Not the GOP, not another party, but Conservatism in general.

What are YOUR top five priorities?

BZ

P.S.
I'll likely accommodate those and more into the new platform I am considering.

4. Never, never amend the Constitution again, for any reason.
5. Stop Globalization Now.
6. Get the Fuck out of the UN Now.

1.Re-establish our party platform to reflect true conservatism, i.e. the same conservatism Reagan put INTO ACTION. Without that foundation being re-built and embraced we can't go on to 2-5.

2. After we embrace a truly conservative platform, then we finish the fence we said we would build, along with it we need to deal with the illegals we already have here. fix the beaurocracy, shorten the time it takes to get in, send them all back and let them come in legally.

3. Get rid of the IRS... Only pay taxes to help our defense and the military.. make it a fair tax.(RANANDO'S #2 WILL BECOME A REALITY THEN).

4. TERM LIMITS in Congress, no more forever Ted Kennedy's.

5. Get rid of the McCain-Feingold law. and turn back what McCain did with the gang of 14 so we can get our strict constructionist judges on the bench.

Not from your country, but rivka has kind of summed up my feelings on this, although, I would have probably said it with a lot of colorful language...

Conservative Platform?

What might that be? I see this as the most major issue with Republicans. Can we put a single platform together?

This party has many parties within it. NeoCon Republicans, Religious Republicans, Moderate Republicans, Bush-Bot Republicans, Gay Republicans, Black republicans, Southern Republicans, Northern Republicans, it is no longer The Republican Party., so whose Platform do we follow? Each of these groups see a very different Republican Party.

The Reagan Platform? The only conservative in this race that stands line in line with a Reagan Platform is Ron Paul, Reagan said so himself. Yet we call him a fool, a moonbat, a idiot. Reagan could come back from the grave and say it again and we would all just push this guy aside.

I have no intention to vote for Ron Paul, unless it's Paul vs Obama, and in doing so am I completely missing a True Conservative Platform, I think I may be. Sometimes it’s right there in front of you and you still miss it.

IMO, all of us that diss Ron Paul have no idea what Ronald Reagan stood for, take notice I said ALL OF US.

The Republican Party is a joke filled with clowns in a three ring circus.

The only thing I can say about today’s primaries is that two of these fake conservatives will be out of the race for good, Rudy and Fred Thompson, thank God.

IMO.

1. Feds concentrate on Security and foreign affairs and operate both for the benefit of the American People.

2. States concentrate on matters of law.

3. Local governments handle most of the practical matters.

4. Judeo-Christian principles, but not doctrines, set the social standards standards for this country.

5. Set a limit to how much money government may collect as taxes or spend.

1. Protect the Nation and secure our Liberty.

2. Make our enemies pay the price of being our enemies.

3. Freedom isn't free - make those that don't support us pay a tariff for the wonders of our trade.

4. Enforce the rule of law at home and the law of Nations abroad.

5. End membership in the UN and every other 'international organization' that seeks to interfere with the Nation.

The first is not only *war* but securing the borders and the Nation from any invasion physically. That includes transnational terrorists and gangs of all stripes. Do so in a way that does not make us beholden to government... that should be a simple one to figure out, but tends to make everyone reach for a 'secure ID'. If you do the former you don't need the latter.

Those that have attacked the Nation without cause and are no Nation are outlaws. They are outside the protection of National and international law. Treat them as they are due for waging Private War. Remind Congress of its Art. I, Sec. 8 *duty* to the Law of Nations on the civil side. We give anyone who gives up one chance to demonstrate they are not an outlaw - nothing more, nothing less. Also end this recruitment ability of organizations to entice Americans to become terrorists - Law of Nations is pretty succinct in that: hang with great justice and no mercy, I believe is the phrase.

Freedom does not come from trade. Trade comes from Liberty and those that are free to exercise it. Trading with people who are not free does not get them Liberty or Freedom. That was settled in that little tussle in 1775: no taxation without representation. Economic conservatives need to be reminded that they spout 'free trade' prattle against the wisdom of the founders.

Enforce the laws. All of them. Hand the bill to legislatures and see the strokes happen. We need *fewer* laws that are *enforceable*. Not *regulations* and the law of rules. My Liberty is being stolen by regulations that I did not vote for nor give assent to. My representatives no longer represent *me*. Fewer laws and more representation at home, please. Then enforce the Law of Nations in our Foreign Policy and stop catering to terrorists and those that help them. The cost is high in cash in doing so. The cost in lives is far higher for acting like cowards. Plus it might get folks to respect treaties and want *fewer* of them.

Like the UN and WTO. Put down the poison, it is killing our Liberty and Freedom.

These things should be basic and simple: protection, Liberty, Freedom, and accountability. No party supports these things which are the fundamental underpinnings of how Nations work internally and externally. That has one and only one end: Empire.

And I detest those that support those things leading to it. We show that Liberty is worth having by showing the good we can do with it for ourselves and those who join us *in it*. We still keep each other accountable as that is civilized. We hand no authority to anything above the Nation as that authority is invested in We the People as individuals.

Get the government's fingers out of my wallet, its nose out of my business, the criminals it won't pick up out of my life and off the street, and make sure we don't get a lovely city or two missing some fine morning.

It isn't much to ask, is it?

Then why, oh why, can't a party actually say those things, mean them and do them?

Honor

Do as you Say.
Say what you Mean.
Mean what you Do.

This political season has the *best* candidates not reaching up to NASA's 'pick 2 out of 3' engineering concept.

1 of 3 don't cut it and most are at Zero.
