(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Attack On Iran: Is It Coming?

An opinion writer for Beirut, Lebanon's newspaper "The Daily Star," former foreign minister and vice chancellor to Germany from 1998 to 2005, Joschka Fischer, recently wrote:

As things look, Israel may well attack Iran soon
By Joschka Fischer Commentary on Friday, May 30, 2008
As a result of misguided American policy, the threat of another military confrontation hangs like a dark cloud over the Middle East. The United States' enemies have been strengthened, and Iran - despite being branded as a member of the so-called "axis of evil" - has been catapulted into regional hegemony.

As Fischer writes, an attack may be at hand and delineates these reasons:

- When President Bush recently visited Israel as the country celebrated its 60th birthday, it was expected that Palestinian-Israeli relations would be the chief topic discussed. Instead, it was Iran.
- It has been speculated that during his visit, Bush gave Israel the green light for an attack on Iran.
- Political pressure is mounting in Israel for action to halt the Iranian threat.
- The outgoing commander of the Israeli air force has said that the air force is capable of any mission, no matter how difficult, to protect Israel's security.
- With the Bush presidency approaching its end and uncertainty about his successor's policy toward Israel and Iran, the "window of opportunity" for an Israeli attack is potentially closing, and that window "is now, during the last months of Bush's presidency."

Fischer finally writes:

Although it is acknowledged in Israel that an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would involve grave and hard-to-assess risks, the choice between acceptance of an Iranian bomb and an attempt at its military destruction, with all the attendant consequences, is clear. Israel won't stand by and wait for matters to take their course.

Iran must understand that without a diplomatic solution in the coming months, a dangerous military conflict is very likely to erupt. It is high time for serious negotiations to begin.

If this is indeed correct, you can expect the lid to be blown off the Middle East box.

Yoni Tidi, a regular on Hugh Hewitt, posts:
(IsraelNN.com) A diplomatic-security source in Israel said that "in the end, Israel will have to attack Iran in order to prevent it from achieving nuclear capability," Maariv-NRG reported Friday. The source is "well versed in materials connected with Iran's nuclear development, contacts between Israel and the U.S. and timetables."

The source and other senior officials think that the chance of a U.S. strike against Iran is growing slimmer as time goes by.

You can expect $200+ a barrel oil, $10+ a gallon gas -- if you can get it at all. Not because of a necessary diminishment of supply, but because of the "perceived trauma." Though wanted by many, attacking and/or bombing Iran could have some very serious consequences for the US, the region and the world. There will be a clear cost.

That is not to indicate that Iran's nuclear grasp shouldn't be stopped.

Iranians had suffered devastations in the hands of hordes of Mongols, crazy Alexander of Macedonia, fanatic Arabs and others over their history.

Do we want our name to be on the same list as Genghis Khan for our brutality by attacking Iran? Have we not inflicted enough damage on Iranian people since 1940? Iraq should be our last war of aggression.

My guess is that it wouldn't take much to make their oil sector implode. It is going to happen on its own sooner or later.

We better hurry up, though, as there are some folks who don't need a gun to do this and are already getting their foot in the door. And those folks they play for keeps, all legal like, too.

What I find amazing is that Obama is trashed for saying he would meet with Iran, Yet Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki meets with Iran and tells them that Iraq will NOT be used as a base for attacking Iran, WTF. Is this what our troops died for?

We don't need to attack to get rid of Iran's leadership, we need to attack al-Qaeda where ever they may be.

Gas will be at $10.00 a gallon by July and then they will bring it back down to $5.00 a gallon to make us feel like we're getting a great deal, BULLSHIT.

SMT: but do we abandon Israel? Do we abandon the Middle East? Do we abandon oil? Our entire economy and that of the world is predicated upon oil, like it or not. If Israel is struck, as a nuclear power, it shall surely retaliate in a like fashion. That is most assuredly a global stoppage of all oil. Period. You want that, sir?

AJ: all true. Hope you enjoyed my last post as a testament to your wisdom.

Ranando: much as I wish to disdain your comment, you show more insight than our administration. I find myself at something of a solutional loss.

Ranando is right, we do need to attack al-Qaida, where ever they may be but I feel an attack on Iran is inevitable, and Israel needs to be the one to do it...

And if Yoni Tidi thinks it's going to happen, take bets, it's going to happen...

Israel is without a choice, unless getting completely destroyed is agreeable with their people. we are dependent on mid-east oil only because US citizens have insisted on electing fools for 30 or more years, and agreeing with their stupid, tree hugging policies. and insist on continuing doing so. so, our choice is cheaper fuel by abandoning Israel and suffering the consequences, or supporting Israel and suffering the consequences.
think on this:
“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. and in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it” Zechariah 12:2,3
“For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead (punish, judge) with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted (divided) my land.” Joel 3: 1,2.
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” Zechariah 12:9.

Whatever Israel decides to do, I'm with them 100% regardless of what happens to the price of gas or anything else. Iran must be stopped!

I visited all of A Jacksonian's links. Very interesting information at all of them.

Unfortunately this trouble with Iran is a "do it now or do it later" situation. It's inevitable because of Iran's attitude. Israel's survival is at stake and their only crime is existing. It's going to happen and it best happen before Iran is ready for war.

Wrong.

It's not Iran's attitude, It's the attitude of it's leadership not it's people. The Iranian people are very Pro-West, they love us and they have NO Problem with Israel.

It's a few people at the top tier that need to be removed, we don't need another Iraq right now and we don't need this Cluster-Fuck of a President leading us down the wrong road again.

Arm the people of Iran and let them do the dirty work, it will all be over in a matter of weeks without one American dying for nothing.

Let me try to clear up my comment...

Why would we want to go into another war with a President that that has NO Intention of winning? When our soldiers do their job they are brought up on charges.

Let's wait until we have someone with some Fucking Common Sense and knows how to fight a war and win.

That President is not nor ever will be George W. Bush. This Asshat has 224 days left in office, let him ride off into the sunset without killing any more of our troops for no reason.

Iran must learn we are in charge. We are not kidding!

Israel has nuclear bombs, and we gave them nuclear capable airplanes to use the bombs. By the way, we helped Israel to put 200 of the nukes together. Israel is our only friend.

And, you are right! We have very bad things, and we know how to use them. We used them against Japan. We used some of them against Iraq. Boy did our nukes kill a lot of those Japanese people. We will do it again.

Iran and the rest of the world better learn soon, we mean business!

By the way, what is this idea that we have a bad economy, expensive college loans, few professional jobs, and crumpling infrastructure?

Forget about it! We have to worry about Iran; you know they are working on nuclear fuel cycle to make electricity. What do they want electricity for?

My great grandparents used what they had to heat their home, light their house after dark, the good old fashioned way. Why do Iranians want to be like us now? It was good for my great grandparents; it must be good for Iranians now.

Last, we must not talk to these Iranians; Israelis have told us not to do it. Plus, our great President Bush wants to revisit the 1953 regime change and put in place someone like the old Shah. We told him what we expected of him. He knew what we wanted, and he did it. No questions asked.

With Israel as a friend who would need an enemy. God help our beautiful USA.
