Bloviating Zeppelin: McCain Does A "Napolitano"

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

McCain Does A "Napolitano"

Does John McCain not read my blog?

Does he not read the news?

Has he not followed the dust-up over Janet Napolitano?

Does he not understand historical truth?

Arizona Sen. John McCain made the dubious claim Friday that Sept. 11 hijackers entered the United States through Canada -- just days after Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, the former governor of Arizona, said the same thing.

Napolitano retracted her claim on Thursday after Canadian officials chided her for the remark, calling it an unfortunate misconception. Napolitano admitted Thursday that she made a mistake -- since the 9/11 Commission concluded that the hijackers entered the U.S. from overseas. But when asked about the gaffe on FOX News Friday, McCain said: "Well, some of the 9/11 hijackers did come through Canada, as you know."

I respect John McCain for the service to his country when he was younger but, now, he'd be best served by either retiring or, preferably, moving his (R) to a (D). He and John Murtha could have offices next to one another in DC.

Thunderstick: it was what it was. I'll admit that I supported McCain, but that was over Obama. Left with those two paths, I made my choice, right or wrong. I wish I could make choices in an Idealist vacuum but that isn't reality. Reality is getting down into the dirt and then voting for the best option. There will never be perfection. And if we Conservatives are hoping for another "Reagan-esque" character, well, we're deluding ourselves.

No such person yet exists to my knowledge.

You know BZ I agree with you in a way. I had to hold my nose when I casted my vote, but was consoled a little with Palin on the ticket.

I think the "stay-at-homer" republicans did a huge dis-service to our country in 2006. A message needed to be sent to the republicans, but not in that way. It only hurt us in the end.

McCain is an appeaser. He likes to play both sides and look like the great moderate/across the aisle politician. I was so sick of hearing him say that during the election too.

But, LA Sunsett wrote a good post about incumbants having a rough road ahead of them. He included McCain now having a possible tough opponent. May be a way to replace him with someone decent.

BZ, you said, "Reality is getting down into the dirt and then voting for the best option." Both options were pretty dirty, huh?? Unfortunately we got the (slighly) dirtiest. But hopefully, the Republican party may have a teeny tiny chance to rebuild now that McCain lost. Had he won, no doubt the party would be totally toast even by now. God Bless.

Leslie: I recognize that! And YES, many GOP'rs "stayed at home."

They made a philosophical stand. And I have to, grudgingly, admire them for that.

But at this point, McCain is simply YESTERDAY and, as such, inconsequential.

CS: and here's what SO many DON'T realize: there is a PATH and it is already primarily plotted. We KNOW where we have to go!

The thing about the last election, is that, bottom line, the conservatives didn't have a candidate on the ticket.

If we don't want the O-word to have an additional 4 years to screw up this country, we'd better quit bitching and get busy finding conservatives who want to be elected officials.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be an elected official, particularly not one who would have to work in D.C. and deal with all those skumbags.

It may be quite the challenge to find conservatives ready to sacrifice themselves and their families to the evil MSM and lying libs.

Does John McCain read anyone's blog? LOL! I seriously doubt it.

I did the same as you, BZ, in supporting McCain. We knew what the alternative would be and although we've been proven right, that's little consolation. I wish we had been wrong and I hope you're wrong in saying that no such person as another "Reagan-esque" character exists. I pray that you're wrong because the GOP so desperately needs one.

I'd be willing to bet that you hope you're wrong too. :)

This from a recent FOX NEWS POLL:

As Barack Obama closes in on his first 100 days as president, majorities of Americans approve of the job he is doing, are satisfied with what he has accomplished so far and think he is keeping his promises, according to a FOX News poll released Friday.

Obama's job approval rating comes in at 62 percent, down just three points from the 65 percent approval he received after his first week in office. Twenty-nine percent of Americans disapprove.

In addition, most people say Obama is doing a better job than they expected (26 percent) or meeting expectations (56 percent). Few say he is doing worse than expected (16 percent).
It's not the 29% you need to reach and keep talking to. It's the 62% you need to sell and win over.

If polls are referenced, Mr Obama is doing a couple points worse than Mr Bush in his first administration at an equal point in time. Certainly not to denigrate the popularity of Obama, but to place these two men in a point of reference. We all need to step back and check our six.

Poll numbers be as they may, anyone that thinks Obama is doing a good job is obviously on drugs!

I would love to see the cross section of Americans that took this poll...

I have once again done what I do best, I pissed off one of the BIG TIME organizers of the Dallas Tea Party. He contacted me with an invitation to attend a *coffee* with Michael Steele, the DNC Chairman.

My response was, "Why would I want to drink coffee with the most voracious RINO to date?"

Like BZ, I am NOT a money supporter of the RNC, I'm NOT a Republican. I have no use FOR the RNC in it's current configuration. The RNC itself is responsible for the loss this last election. If John McCain was the best the RNC could come up with, the RNC is screwed...

And as to the "I voted for Sarah" stuff... You are a wasted vote... Palin would have been the VP, not POTUS... WTF do you think she was going to do??

Unless the RNC does a complete reinvention of themselves and reverts back to it's conservative roots, the only hope for America will be that dreaded 3rd party that BZ and I disagree on...

If the RNC is left to it's own devices, Obama will skate to an 8 year term and this nation will DIE!!

BZ, I deleted the other post and corrected a couple of VERY blatant errors on my part... I know not to post BEFORE I have caffeine!!

The major problem with the polls is when they stack the deck. A poll can be swung in either direction, depending on who the pollster is and who he/she finds to poll.

It is very easy to make obama look popular and to twist the "results" of a poll to make it look like the American people are happy with obama, when you do not have a non-bias people group being polled.

I can go out and produce my own poll with 80% democrats, 10% independents, and 10% republicans and get much the same results. Polls, these days, are meaningless. It is all part of the agenda to pull the blanket over the eyes of the American people.

It doesn't surprise me at all that McCain did another stupid thing. He is known for that!!
We held our nose and voted for McCain because what other choice did we have? - (he was the only one who had a chance at beating Obama).
I pray the RNC will find another Reaganlike candidate for 2012 - or we will have more of "the one" - & how much more freedoms can we afford to lose??? a third party on it's own will not be able to beat Obama, but will only divide the conservatives - so it's vital the RNC find a true conservative this time who will unite us!

Polls are partisan efforts and stacked to be that way. Consider that you may think someone is a good person, but they are awful when actually doing a job: their quality of 'nice' does not replace that of 'competence'. Every poll will start to use the Obama supporters in numbers far outside their proportion in the community to show how well he is 'liked' and on his 'job approval'. One of these polls had over 60% Democrats responding with Republicans in the high teens... Obama is such a great guy, sayeth the polls.

No shit, huh?

Those that stayed home, and have stayed home, have been an INCREASING percentage since 1964 where only 30% stayed home on the Presidential election. This last election? 49% stayed home.

They voted.

Their message is loud and crystal clear that they do not have confidence in representative democracy and they are now rubbing the noses of both parties in this. You may not like that vote of staying home - but give them their due, they have clearly and succinctly shown everyone what the problem actually *is*. And NEITHER party has addressed their concerns in a serious manner outside of the re-election of Ronald Reagan.... and they then stopped coming to the polls for HW Bush. And Clinton. And W. And Obama.

Is America Polarized? Why yes, but the knife edge hacking of the two parties is not that division. The partisanship is what happens when there is a declining electorate base and everything comes to 'winning elections' rather than ensuring that elections serve their purpose of reflecting the people. That also has its reflection and demonstrates the lack of health of a representative democracy used to run a republic. When it devolves into 'winning' you are then slicing up an ever decreasing pie and starting to exclude those who want representation, not 'winners'. We were warned about this.

Now the worries of those who pointed out the problem in the system are coming to bear fruit in the exact, same ways they outlined. The parties had the choice of 'winning' or learning their constituencies and 'representing' them. 'Winning' was chosen, and the lesser of two evils begats no good at all. Term limits are an answer... the better answer is to get more representative democracy that is better reflective of the Nation. Why are the two parties afraid of that? That it might just SLOW DOWN legislation? Heaven forefend! Really, if you take up that argument, look at the 'stimulus' bill and 'budget' which have no end in sight and one was passed with NO ONE reading it. We could use a lot of sand in the gears... it is called 'representative democracy' and slows things up no end. Which is good... very, very, very good.

Sometimes I wonder if they do this on purpose just to be talked about and not forgotten. Other than that, it's a mystery to me how someone can say something like Mr. McCain did or Mrs. Napolitano. Do they even listen to what they're saying? Unbelievable...
