Bloviating Zeppelin: Who's The Liar, Speaker Pelosi?

Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Who's The Liar, Speaker Pelosi?

The CIA, or you?

Did you actually think that when you essentially labeled the CIA a pack of liars, that they wouldn't react?

Intelligence officials released documents this evening saying that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was briefed in September 2002 about the use of harsh interrogation tactics against al-Qaeda prisoners, seemingly contradicting her repeated statements over the past 18 months that she was never told that these techniques were actually being used.

In a 10-page memo outlining an almost seven-year history of classified briefings, intelligence officials said that Pelosi and then-Rep. Porter Goss (R-Fla.) were the first two members of Congress ever briefed on the interrogation tactics. Then the ranking member and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, respectively, Pelosi and Goss were briefed Sept. 4, 2002, one week before the first anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

So apparently, Speaker Liar Pelosi, you were one of the very first two persons fully briefed on tactics used, not proposed.

Go here to see the released 10-page document under the Freedom Of Information Act.

And so, with her lies dragged from the shadows into the light of day, then would it not follow that if the Obama Administration determines to prosecute those lawyers who drafted opinions under Bush regarding enhanced interrogation, shouldn't Speaker Pelosi likewise be so prosecuted?

BZ

P.S.
I want to know whose red, bulky, lizard-like and elderly "man hands" were inserted into this photograph because, after all, they couldn't belong to the coy and demure female Speaker of the House -- eh?

Even better: even though the report came from the CIA, it went through the DNI's office. This is the INTEL Community responding, not just the CIA.

How would the Speaker and all the rest of the squawkers like to have the names, dates, and topics of briefings released since 9/11? Even redacted it would be a massive hit to the Congresscowards. The bozos who overburdened the bureaucracy now get a taste of it when it doesn't like them. More from the DNI, please... the IC has got to be ticked off for this to happen, and going after the Shadow Warriors on their home turf will not get you success.

You know AJ, you make an excellent and overarching point.

And your other point: you denigrate our Shadow Warriors to our collective detriment.

Precisely why there are only STARS indicating individual deaths on the wall in the lobby of the main CIA building entrance.

You are, as always AJ, spot on.

Anyone just reaching my blog, I ask that you PLEASE visit A Jacksonian's blog at http://ajacksonian.blogspot.com/

You will never, EVER, find a blog filled with such incredible detail and research as his. This I can quite easily GUARANTEE you.

It is a privilege to have him in my blogroll and to have him comment here.

BZ, those hands would fit perfectly if they'd been stretched to smithereens, too, but plastic surgeons won't DO hands. (mean, I know, but true!)

As for the CIA, good on THEM, finally feeling pushed enough by the LEFT to lash out, how refreshing!
oh, I just read AJ's piece; he had the same thought I did.
I'm flattered! I'll go visit, thanks, BZ (but I'll be BAAAAAACK! after all, we're both in KAHLEEFORNEEA!)

Mr. Z - I came from the DoD/Civil side of the IC, and have seen the 'John Doe' types around the halls. That cooperation between the military and civilian establishments is critical to the Shadow War part of this fight. They are the forgotten fighters piecing together how to find those that are killing us, often at the cost of their own lives. Some of those supporting the CIA were brutally killed in McLean waiting for the turn-off light to the CIA to change... way back in the opening months of the Clinton Administration.

There is no 'front line' in this war. Anyone who defends this Nation from DoD to civil side is at risk. I know a few good folks on the contract side who are now being let go due to shifting bureaucracy... and yet one of them was a man I knew who was on Flight 77 and one of the top systems people I had ever met. These were my colleagues and coworkers and still my brethren.

This fight must be top to bottom and across the board, without mercy but with prejudice to wipe out those who are an enemy to mankind. When Pelosi, Reid, Rockefeller and their ilk take aim at those protecting us, I gain only disdain and slowly building hatred. They want to support one moment, be turncoat the next and all to play second fiddle to the current Juan and Eva in their party.

And Republicans refuse to call them on it.

That is complicity in silence when at the highest reaches of power, and dereliction of duty to the Nation. To me those Oaths are sacred.

That is why we are heading to a crack-up: those who believe in our sacred duty to each other and the Nation are seeing it being corrupted into tyranny and despotism. I would prefer a civil solution to things, well and truly I would.

The left believes in power and force.

I will not start a fight.

Given one, I will return the favor in spades, so as to defend our Nation.

The DNI stands up to petty tryants.

Alone, it looks like, but speaking across the IC.

Now where are those elected to high office that will stand with those that defend the Nation against such petty tyranny?

Silence is not support.

Republicans are headed to extinction if they cannot stand up for the Nation, and we will all suffer due to that. This is not about politics at this point. And I do notice where Republicans stand in high office when they sit and are silent.

I just got back from the Kentucky Derby and a week at WindPower 2009 in Chicago.

Didn't watch any news or talk any politics and to tell you the truth, it never came up.

Had a great day at the Derby with family and friends and then went on to write some nice orders at WindPower.

A week without this Bullshit, a Great week without this Bullshit. This crap only effects those that allow it to do so.

Now off to the Indy 500.

Oh and Pelosi, fuck her, who gives a shit. I'm going to enjoy my country for as long as I have a country to enjoy.

I put her in the same catagory as Limbaugh, a pathetic peice of shit.

Zoom, Zoom.

BZ, fuck this crap, let's go fishing.

Ranando, ya know, if I had the cash I'd love to zip all around America. I'd love nothing better. But I've already run the numbers with the service that assists me with my retirement board and we come to the same conclusion: I thought I could retire next year, after 34 years in LE, but that's not gonna happen. So I'm still quite rather concerned about such banal things as my taxes on a county, state and federal level. I suppose that's rather mundane but that's the way it is.

CB, you crack me up!

Ranando..you said "This crap only effects those that allow it to do so." Our country's falling apart and you think it's crap? BUT, great to get to go to the Derby (have a mint julep?) and got some orders written!

AJ...I said "left" because so many have thought the CIA was conservative because it did hard work in protecting us...it's only lately I myself learned that's far from the case, at least for the last 20 years or so. I agree, parties are SO not important when this country's what matters.
And, yes, the Right's refusal to DO something meaningful in congress, etc., is tacit agreement with what's happening.
I wish you wouldn't use quite so many initials. !!?

And, by the way..It's Mrs. Z !!

BZ,
I feel for you and your retirement plans. I was happy for my retirement day so I know you will make it and enjoy it. Only those of us who have served extended time in the line of fire know how exciting it is to turn it over to the younger people. Be careful.

Z,

Our country is NOT falling apart. our country is doing what it does, moving along and moving forward, good or bad.

Your country may be falling apart, mine is not.

Mint Julips? you bet, many of them.

Ranando, when a country like AMERICA is going the way of Cuba and Venezuela, that's 'falling apart' in my book. Socialism hasn't ever worked for the people and we aren't going to do it better in our country.
I wish I could feel your optimism, BELIEVE me.
Good on you for the juleps!

The CIA has two parts to it, that go back to its formulation: the bureaucratic side and the old OSS group. Much of the bureaucratic side is the same across the entire government. I've had first-hand experience with that overhead across the government (civil and DoD and other parts of the IC). I do speak out against those who are Kingdom builders at the expense of the Nation - it is a huge problem across the entire government, and is a horror when it gets into the IC and DoD.

Part of the bitching about Rumsfeld is that he got rid of the Lords of the Rings in the Pentagon: those sitting on stale projects and building fiefdoms ever since they got to those projects. Likewise the CIA has a bunch in the mid and upper echelons who are sycophants and builders of bureaucracy for themselves.

I separate the Lords of the Rings from the grunt on the ground.

Likewise the analyst from the damned upper level manager who hasn't done the job of an analyst in decades.

The parts of the CIA that work are those that are analysts, and we damned well need them. We could lose the upper level bureaucracy that has become politicized and not skip a beat.

I will not paint with a broad brush and say all are bad: it are the powerful opportunists who distract from the good work done by those there to do a job, not build a backing or fiefdom.

You want Predators to pick off al Qaeda in far away places? You need the analysts and on the ground specialists.

Their upper level bosses, we can do without.

That is true across the entire IC and the entire government.

But those who work in these jobs are targets, no matter how bad they are. I will not try to puree the good with the bad and call it all bad when it is the top 1/3 of the barrel that could go and leave a good organization behind. I have deep and abiding problems with anyone who paints the IC or DoD with a broad brush... we still get some weirdos like Scheuer who have alternate days of sanity, but he isn't indicative of those he left behind.

I have written about that topic and it is serious and my outline is the exact, same one I presented while still working on the inside. There are no magic bullets, but massive changes to remove corruption must be done and require everyone in the IC to learn as much as possible and be active... not fiefdom builders. To do that requires that we understand the problem and get it addressed by our representatives... and that will not happen until the broad brush is put away and the chainsaw taken out to do the necessary cutting.

BZ, Once again I must congrad you on your blog, you must be one secure person and it shows.

You let folks from all ways of life, from all parties, beliefs religions come here and say what they want to say, agree with or not.

If comments stay friendly all the better, if they get nasty you let them stand. You allow debates to take place, you allow people to disagree. You let all sides be heard.

No special instructions and no having to agree with you fully to comment, that says alot about what kind of person you are, you're not threatened by others and what they have to say.

It's a great blog and a great read and I enjoy it each and everyday.

Keep up the good work and it's time that other bloggers take notice as to how to change minds.

On the other hand, Ranando, I'm lucky enough to not have attracted commenters whose sole purposely in life is to conduct flame wars in the comment section. Seldom have I had to delete comments -- just the occasional ad-spammer. I very much dislike censorship of anyone's thoughts and attempt to avoid it.

The issue of Congress not standing at a mic everytime they have an opportunity is a huge issue. Like it or not, with Constitution-haters in power, the conservatives in Congress are our Defending Fathers.

I am encouraged that there is a pushback about taxes, and some using the "S" word (socialism), but we need a strong pushback on national defense.

We have a lot of history that shows us clearly how to put our country in jeopardy from the Clinton/Gorlick years. It isn't a mystery. Where are our Defending Fathers?
