(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Keystone XL, from a Canadian Perspective

Very nicely done, as an explanation from a Canadian perspective. As indicated, it's evident that our Mr Obama values Saudi Arabian "CONFLICT" oil over closer, friendlier Canadian oil. "Conflict Diamonds"? How about CONFLICT OIL?

Further, from CNBC, Donald Trump says OPEC is larfing their asses off at our inane "leadership." My quotation marks. To wit:
The leaders of OPEC are "sitting around their table, setting the price of oil and laughing at us because we have no leadership," real estate mogul Donald Trump told CNBC Tuesday.

That includes U.S. ally Saudi Arabia, whose Prince Alawaleed bin Talal recently told CNBC the price of oil won't exceed $100 a barrel. Crude oil is currently at around $108.

"I have many friends in Saudi Arabia and other countries and they can’t believe what they’re getting away with," Trump said. "They can’t believe how stupid we are. We don’t need Saudi Arabia."

This time Saudi Arabia is correct and, of course, Donald Trump is correct. We don't need Saudi Arabia whilst we have the Bakken Fields, massive fields of our own natural gas, fields in ANWR, fields a short distance off our very own coasts. And Keystone XL.

Whatever greater pain WILL be felt by the American Consumer shortly, remember this: Mr Obama purposely CHOSE "CONFLICT OIL" over friendly oil, and purposely CHOSE to disallow drilling our OWN resources.

Monterey Bay, Pt II:

Monterey Bay Inn. Cannery Row street is on the left. To the right, Monterey Bay itself and the mighty Pacific Ocean.
Looking out over the park towards the hotel.
The Cannery Divers memorial in Breakwater Cove park. Divers were important to the canneries because fish were processed through underwater pipes that had to be built, serviced and repaired.
Breakwater Cove. This is where diving students come to take classes in the open ocean, and is sufficiently close to land and assistance should problems arise.
South of the marina, near Fisherman's Shoreline Park.
The west side of Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf, at low tide.
In the harbor, adjacent the Muni Wharf. The Monterey Bay Yacht Club is to the right, just out of the frame. The water was, again, amazingly clear.
Harbor, looking east towards the Yacht Club and the Muni Wharf.
The bay just adjacent the entrance to Fisherman's Wharf, where numerous restaurants compete with various tourist shops and whale watching tour boats. Clearly, it is low tide.
Looking east towards Fisherman's Wharf, on the west side. The water is very clear.
Unhappy diver. He is quite displeased with my presence and my camera. If looks could kill. . .

From The Room:

An otter that seems to appear regularly below our window, whom we've taken to calling 'Dave.' He spent last night and this morning with us.
Align CenterThe seas were a bit rough and the winds were higher in the bay on Saturday. A good day, therefore, for many sailboats.
The waves cascaded and, literally, rocked the hotel. You could feel some of them make a low bass whump sound as they struck the piers and foundations.
Directly out our patio door and over the veranda is Monterey Bay. This shot looks northeast.
Wide angle photograph of the view from our fourth (top) floor room.

Lots of things to see from our room at the Monterey Bay Inn. It's 55 degrees, fairly clear and quite windy. There are whitecaps in the bay itself. We heard seals barking from a red buoy in the night some distance out in the bay whilst the waves crashed over the rocks directly below our room. Even at low tide, the waves are rocking and rolling.

As I write this, the fog is starting to roll in a bit, on little cat feet.

The light is diminishing, Dave has disappeared, and it's time to think of dinner.

Monterey Bay Bound:

An overall view of Monterey Bay, Fornicalia -- which shows the very deep canyon just a few miles offshore to the west. Click to expand the view, and you will see the city of Santa Cruz to the north, and Monterey to the south.

That's it. I've temporarily had enough.

It's time for my wife and I to leave work and our stress behind.

I made reservations for five nights at one of the premier hotels in Monterey, Fornicalia. This is a late birthday present/anniversary for my wife. We are celebrating five years. Five years, what's that? A paperclip?

We'll be in a 540-square foot suite with a direct top-floor view of Monterey Bay, at the height of whale-watching season.

Time for a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company, and a host of other wonderful places on the ocean, to include J&S Surplus in Moss Landing -- a wonderful store full of military memorabilia, paintball equipment, surplus, clothing, books, knives and collectibles!

Boys and girls, if it's Friday, we're driving there right now.

Posting will not stop. I hope to have, however, some updated photographs on our tours and travels.

Excelsior!

The motel where we'll be staying. It is situated directly on the bay, just north of Breakwater Cove, the US Coast Guard station and Fisherman's Shoreline Park, right on Cannery Row.

What The Four GOP Candidates Are Apparently NOT:

At last night's CNN debate, the candidates were asked to describe themselves in one word:

  • Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX): Consistent
  • Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA): Courage
  • Former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA): Resolute
  • Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich: Cheerful

The one word descriptor conspicuously missing?

Conservative.

It's Official: HALF of Americans DON'T pay income tax:

From Heritage.org's The Foundry:

This year’s Index of Dependence on Government presented startling findings about the sharp increase of Americans who rely on the federal government for housing, food, income, student aid or other assistance. (See last week’s chart.)

Another eye-popping number was the percentage of Americans who don’t pay income taxes, which now accounts for nearly half of the U.S. population. Meanwhile, most of that population receives generous federal benefits.

“One of the most worrying trends in the Index is the coinciding growth in the non-taxpaying public,” wrote Heritage authors Bill Beach and Patrick Tyrrell. “The percentage of people who do not pay federal income taxes, and who are not claimed as dependents by someone who does pay them, jumped from 14.8 percent in 1984 to 49.5 percent in 2009.”

That means 151.7 million Americans paid nothing in 2009. By comparison, 34.8 million tax filers paid no taxes in 1984.

How does this happen? How can a full 50% of Americans pay no income tax whatsoever?

The Demorats talk and rail about "fair." How is it "fair" that FIFTY PER-CENT of my very own -- I can only hope -- lawful citizens pay NO income tax whatsoever?

So it really does come down to two versions: PARASITES -- those who pay no income tax -- and are likely the ones demanding their "full share" of entitlements. . .

Or HOSTS -- who pay everything else. Like me.

Explanations, anyone?

Thank You, Mr Obama

I. Thanks, Obama, for ruining the fiscal future of our infants and children:

II. Thanks, Obama, for making sure that nothing is done to deflect gas prices ($106 per barrel today), to ensure that Canadian help in the matter is turned down via Keystone, and that your "green energy" programs are comprised of smoke and mirrors funded by billions of taxpayer dollars for businesses gone bankrupt:

III. Thanks, Obama, for instilling the worst confidence in our nation since Carter:

IV. Thanks, Obama, for doing your best to enable the Illegal Invader Mexican Invasion so that you can benefit from pandering votes for Free Cheese, as in "Immigration enforcement to be shut down":

V: Thanks, Obama, for enabling the continuance of evil racial politics (just ask Walter Williams, a Conservative and -- ahem -- unfortunately, a black man):

VI: And finally -- thanks, Obama
, for ensuring that Baby Boomers like myself can never retire. At least I'll get a portion of my initial retirement; further generations won't even acquire that due to your incalculable debt increases:

Thanks, Mr Obama.

Thank you very much.

Obama: Looking for a new Catch-phrase

From Reuters.com:

By Jeff Mason

WASHINGTON, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Winning The Future. Greater Together. We Don't Quit.

They may not be official but those are all phrases that could in one form or another be candidates to become President Barack Obama's re-election slogan.

Advisers say a fresh slogan to replace the winning "Change we can believe in" mantra of 2008, is unlikely to appear before Obama knows who his Republican opponent will be and starts big campaign travel swings, likely in the spring or summer.

His campaign posters now say simply, "Obama 2012."

But Obama's surrogates have roadtested some slogans in recent months, including "Winning The Future," which the White House used to promote its budget, and "Greater Together," which the campaign has used to brand its youth outreach effort.

I say: let's help Mr Obama with his new catch-phrase because, after all, "hope and change" seems, now, to be so terribly passe, languid and, frankly, at least 50% inaccurate. That "hope" part. "Change" you got: all the change you had, turned upside down and your pockets emptied.

What's your suggestion for Mr Obama's new 2012 election slogan? Think: witty and pithy.

Rick Santorum: Income Inequality Is Proper

And I would have to complete agree.

For whatever reason, these Santorum quotes are running rampant through the internet and, of course, plastered all over the Leftist blogs and some completely daft Conservative blogs. "How could he say that?" these blogs rail.

Easy. He's entirely correct.

An earlier quote, from December 20th of 2011:

The reason you see some sympathy among the American public for them is the grave concern — and it’s a legitimate one — that blue-collar workers, lower-income workers, are having a harder and harder time rising,” the former Pennsylvania senator said at a presidential campaign stop. “They talk about income inequality. I’m for income inequality. I think some people should make more than other people, because some people work harder and have better ideas and take more risk, and they should be rewarded for it. I have no problem with income inequality.

“President Obama is for income equality. That’s socialism. It’s worse yet, it’s Marxism,” Santorum said. “I’m not for income equality. I’m not for equality of result — I’m for equality of opportunity.”

“The key in America is that people can rise, that there are opportunities to move up. In that area, America is falling short now. We are not as income-mobile as even some western European countries, according to a lot of the data. So that is something that as Republicans we should be talking about and be concerned about.”

There is income inequality in America. There always has been and hopefully, and I do say that, there always will be. Why? Because people rise to different levels of success based on what they contribute to society and to the marketplace and that's as it should be."
"We shouldn't have a society that has a President who envies or creates class warfare or envy between one group of people and another."
"We should celebrate like we do in the small towns all across American -- as you do here in Detroit. You celebrate success. You build statues and monuments. Buildings, you name after them. Why? Because in their greatness and innovation, yes, they created wealth, but they created wealth for everybody else. And that's a good thing, not something to be condemned in America."

Our nation is founded but upon an attempt for equality of opportunity, but no guarantee whatsoever in terms of outcome. Leftists want -- no, demand -- equality of outcome.

And that just can't stand.

I repeat, at risk of revisiting the Department of Redundancy Dept:

Rick Santorum, here, is absolutely correct in his statements.

All others are simply wrong.

House votes to kick-start Keystone XL and open ANWR for drilling

From HumanEvents.com:

The House Thursday passed an energy measure to fund highway and transportation projects that also included contentious language to kick-start the Keystone pipeline and open the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to drilling.

The bill seeks to expand offshore drilling for oil and gas and create a shale oil leasing program, and passed mostly along party lines 237-187.

“Instead of more gimmicky stimulus spending or pork-laden bills of the past, this bill would permanently remove government barriers to job creation and support improving America’s roads and bridges,” said House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Wash.), chairman of the House Resources Committee, said that in addition to developing energy for the U.S., money paid to the government for leasing the federal property would pay for infrastructure projects without raising taxes or adding to the deficit.

“Sadly, the president’s actions in office have been anything but pro energy,” Hastings said. “In fact, his rhetoric is 180 degrees from his action -- since taking office, this administration has repeatedly blocked energy production.”

An excellent idea, with one major roadblock:

The US Senate.

Mexicans: Demography IS Prophecy

I've written that "demography is prophecy" in my blog for years and years.

Few people seem to take that phrase to heart. It gets down to this: whoever has the most kids, wins. Plain and simple. In the US: Mexicans. In terms of religion: Muslims.

Heather MacDonald writes about that very same point, as applied to Mexicans in Fornicalia, in her article "California's Demographic Revolution."

California’s Demographic Revolution
If the upward mobility of the impending Hispanic majority doesn’t improve, the state’s economic future is in peril.

California is in the middle of a far-reaching demographic shift: Hispanics, who already constitute a majority of the state’s schoolchildren, will be a majority of its workforce and of its population in a few decades. This is an even more momentous development than it seems. Unless Hispanics’ upward mobility improves, the state risks becoming more polarized economically and more reliant on a large government safety net. And as California goes, so goes the nation, whose own Hispanic population shift is just a generation or two behind.

The scale and speed of the Golden State’s ethnic transformation are unprecedented. In the 1960s, Los Angeles was the most Anglo-Saxon of the nation’s ten largest cities; today, Latinos make up nearly half of the county’s residents and one-third of its voting-age population. A full 55 percent of Los Angeles County’s child population has immigrant parents. California’s schools have the nation’s largest concentration of “English learners,” students from homes where a language other than English is regularly spoken. From 2000 to 2010, the state’s Hispanic population grew 28 percent, to reach 37.6 percent of all residents, almost equal to the shrinking white population’s 40 percent. Nearly half of all California births today are Hispanic. The signs of the change are everywhere—from the commercial strips throughout the state catering to Spanish-speaking customers, to the flea markets and illegal vendors in such areas as MacArthur Park in Los Angeles, to the growing reach of the Spanish-language media.

Routine domestic violence is another Third World import, especially from Mexico. More than a quarter of the 911 calls to the Santa Ana Police Department are for domestic violence, reports Kevin Brown, a former Santa Ana cop who now serves on an antigang intervention team. “Children are seeing it at home—they’re living the experience,” he says.

Hispanic underperformance contributes to California’s dismal educational statistics. Only Mississippi had as large a percentage of its eighth-grade students reading at the “below basic” level on the 2011 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP); in eighth-grade math, California came in third, after Alabama and Mississippi, in the percentage of students scoring “below basic.” Only 56 percent of ninth-graders graduate in four years in Los Angeles; statewide, only two-thirds do.

The future mismatch between labor supply and demand is likely to raise wages for college-educated workers, while a glut of workers with a high school diploma or less will depress wages on the low end and contribute to an increased demand for government services, especially among the less educated Hispanic population. U.S.-born Hispanic households in California already use welfare programs (such as cash welfare, food stamps, and housing assistance) at twice the rate of U.S.-born non-Hispanic households, according to an analysis of the March 2011 Current Population Survey by the Center for Immigration Studies. Welfare use by immigrants is higher still. In 2008–09, the fraction of households using some form of welfare was 82 percent for households headed by an illegal immigrant and 61 percent for households headed by a legal immigrant.

Hispanics’ reliance on the government safety net helps explain their ongoing support for the Democratic Party. Indeed, liberal spending policies are a more important consideration for Hispanic voters than ethnic identification or the so-called values issues that they are often said to favor.

Let me cut to, again, the proverbial chase.

Lower class young blacks and Mexicans are one-and-the-same: they want their Free Cheese and their popularized go-nowhere cultures are held in high by way of GOWPs who are whoring for votes, and by a national and state government mindset that supports the kicking of males to the curb and, by way of cash, advocating the continuance of single-mother households.

In both cultures, it isn't cool to learn. It isn't cool to achieve. It isn't cool to leave the neighborhood and cast your fellow LOSERS behind. It isn't cool to read. It isn't cool to become educated. It isn't cool to be honest, courageous, to help others. It isn't cool to become assimilated. It isn't cool to realize that there is more to life than your silly-ass gang.

It is cool to be violent. It is cool, for males, to fuck your bitches and cast them aside. It is cool to kill your own. It is cool to stand up for your turf, as meager and minimal as it may be. It is cool to wear your pants so low that your underwear is exposed. It is cool to talk ghetto, stay ghetto, "be real" and "represent." It is cool to be a thug and to advocate for a continuing Thugdom-ocracy.

The only reason Mexicans are "beating" blacks to the welfare dollars? Demography. Illegal Mexicans are out-babying both blacks, Asians and, of course, dullard whites.

Beware, my readers. The things that start in Fornicalia come soon to a state near you because, after all, the base, emotive desire for Free Cheese trumps most everything in terms of votes.

Just a heads-up, my friends.

Heather MacDonald simply placed it onto the internet with a readership access that I simply cannot match.

But you know that I wrote about it here and here, and here and here first.

6. Chicago is the most corrupt city in the nation.

7. Post offices close; small towns go dark. No one cares.

8. Obama's deficit spending = $17,000 per person, or $70,000 per family.

9. A man is jailed for not having a dog license.

10. Arizona wants to create a law prohibiting teachers from cursing.

11. School Food Police: personal lunches, after a search, don't meet nutrition requirements.

12. In lieu of those terrible lunches, schoolers were made to eat coated chicken nuggets.

13. Flights by US airlines hit a 10-year low.

14. $3.9 BILLION DOLLARS flowed to energy firms with cash ties to Obama's White House.

15. China reduces US treasury holdings.

16. Obama's donors reap big benefits, such as Soros and Douglas.

And those bullet points examined only in the course of one day.

Firearms: Joe Doakes Makes Sense

From a comment in The Washington Times article "Obama Wants To Outlaw Guns In The Second Term" (well worth reading):

Dear President Obama:

Every year some new idea about how to make our streets safer via “Gun Control” arrives in New York. We’ve registered our guns. Violent crime continues. We’ve banned assault weapons. Violent crime continues. We ballistically identify our legally possessed pistols. Violent crime continues. There are 200 to 300 million firearms in this country - they are woven into the fabric of our society. For all the “wiz bang” technology that modern society has invented - rifles and pistols are still the foundation of our national and state defense. Thousands of times an hour they are used to dissuade another from pursuing an ill advised path; whether in the hand of a police officer or a private citizen. Yes - accidents and tragedies happen, and a mature society must look itself in the mirror and draw the proper conclusions from these horrible events, but to think that by passing law upon law the public at large will somehow be magically made safer via “gun control” is psychotic and dangerous.

I and many of you witnessed the attacks on September 11, 2001. Had those pilots - many of whom were ex military officers - been required to carry a side arm; that day would have ended much differently. Imagine all the lives and treasure that could have been saved but for an irrational fear of the law abiding gun owner. Can any of you honestly say that over the past few decades your collective efforts have made New Yorkers safer? If any of you answered yes then you must take a close look at the FBI statistics on violent crime - you’ll find disappointment waiting for you. No law can urge the lawless to ask permission from anyone for anything. Remember ladies and gentleman criminals, terrorists, and sub human miscreants are dumb, but they are not stupid.

The latest iteration of this policy is the idea that putting a serial number on a bullet casing as it ejects from a semi-automatic pistol will allow law enforcement to detect and thus incarcerate more criminals - this is also referred to as micro-stamping. So let us pretend that all of you are now criminals - how would you alter your behavior to avoid detection? Police your brass. Use a sawed off shotgun. Use a revolver. Gasoline and a match are very effective. Explosives work exceedingly well in motor vehicles. Poison - women seem to prefer this method - Spitzer should hire a food tester. There are very effective ways of killing people that never include a semi-automatic pistol. Not to mention the most obvious trick - remove the firing pin and file off the serializing mechanism. What about something even more devious - picking up used serialized brass at a firing range and place it at the scene of the future crime to throw off the police. Serializing casings of pistol cartridges not only will not work, but it will create more permutations of that section of the population of New York State that are hell bent on killing for profit or psychosis.

New York State currently operates a system that ostensibly should be doing what micro-stamping or serializing a cartridge would do. That system is called “The New York State Combined Ballistic Identification System,” or COBIS. To date COBIS has cost the taxpayers of New York $30,000,000 and has produced only two matches in its database. It costs $4,000,000 per year to operate. We are not the only State to have attempted such foolishness - Maryland has attempted it also. The only difference is Maryland abandoned it because firearms possessed by law abiding citizens are use to commit crimes in infinitesimally rare circumstances. I could fill five pages with all I know of ballistic identification and it’s pros and cons - I sincerely suggest all of you educate yourselves and rethink New York's current approach - last I checked New York was running a $5,000,000,000 deficit saving a few million here or there might start adding up to real money.

Many proven methods work to prevent crime, a solid basic education in how to behave in civil society, economic growth, engaged and active parents, etc. But the most effective methods that exist for reducing crime is self defense and long term humane incarceration for those who cannot coexist peacefully with their fellow citizens. New York State concealed carry law is a mess - some counties provide permits to law abiding citizens with out much hassle while others, “you have to know somebody.” Fix this and you’ll have a safer society. Don’t get me wrong - have stringent rules and requirements that are not capricious for the officials as well as the applicants, but stop deluding yourselves in thinking that permit holders and firearms are in and of themselves the enemy - the opposite is true - concealed carry holders are the most productive and law abiding segment of society. Florida maintains excellent statistics on this point - less then one hundredth of one percent of all permit holders has ever committed any crime in its entire thirty year history of concealed carry! Before Elliot Sptitzers behavior was detected he let 200 murderers out of prison. These people did not steal a loaf of bread to feed their children - THEY KILLED AND RAPED PEOPLE. Fix this and you’ll have a safer society. Bring back the death penalty for criminals that take an officers life.

Please stop attacking me and my fellow firearms owners. We neither deserve your ire or your ad hominem attacks. Focus your efforts on what works and not what will get any of you re-elected. Stop using firearms as a means to win votes in an effort to demonstrate to your misguided constituents that you can save them from violent crime if only they surrender more of their forgotten liberty, when the opposite is true - even they at some point will recognize your hypocrisy for what it is.

Respectfully,

Joe Doakes

Mr Doakes makes much sense. But there you go, that common sense, logic, proportion and reality thingie. How terribly inconvenient for Leftists. As I've said many times, never let any of those aspects get in the way of Goebbels-like propaganda.

And it will break the bank.

That's the point.

Premiums will, by necessity, skyrocket.

That's the point.

RomneyCare and ObamaKare will not save money. They're almost one and the same. Even Rush Limbaugh realized the source of ObamaKare and spoke about it on Monday.

The point of ObamaKare is to ultimately place you and me under the control of government. Its point is to eliminate private healthcare wholesale -- with the slight exception of the UberWealthy, who will always find ways to acquire private care.

First: bankrupt healthcare. Price it out of the hands of the electorate. Then eliminate the insurance companies. Then government steps in as the Great Savior.

Under these Purple Skies, everyone -- bingo! -- is now "equal." Everyone will now have the same shitty, underfunded, incompetent healthcare.

Except for the UberWealthy.

AND D.C. POLITICIANS.
