Bloviating Zeppelin

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Depressed Women

Women are more depressed now than at any other time in the history of the United States. The Left, the Right, the Centrists and Moderates pretty much all concur.

Why should that be?

Women have more equality, better wages in the workplace, more freedom, more consideration, more targeted assistance programs, more laws written for, greater populatory percentile, occupy more positions of power, have more children absent male intrusion -- than at any other time in recorded history.

Condoleezza Rice, for example, should be the literal Shining Star for Feminism -- she is highly educated, a leader, possesses great power as the Secretary of State for the most commanding nation on the planet, she is black, she is single and she is child-less.

Yet she is not held as the epitome of Feminism. Why is that?

At their time of greatest power, why is it that women are more depressed than ever?

FIVE to FOUR: Appointed For LIFE

FIVE TO FOUR:

In a landmark ruling Thursday, the Heller decision:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Individual Americans have a right to own guns, the Supreme Court ruled on Thursday for the first time in the country's history, striking down a strict gun control law in the U.S. capital.

However, considering the 5 to 4 ruling on this, it's truly frightening to think that four justices even would question the simple sentence in the Second Amendment that reads: "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

One good aspect, I should truthfully write, is that the Supreme Court (at least in this case) didn't attempt to rewrite our Constitution.

Barack Hussein Obama said: "I have no intention of taking of taking away peoples' guns," but supported the DC gun ban, finding it Constitutional. And Constitutional law is allegedly his scholarly specialty. Now, today, Barack Hussein Obama says today's ruling is essentially NBD.

Who formed the majority? Scalia (who wrote the decision), Roberts, Thomas, Alito and Kennedy.

Dissenting were Stevens, Souter, Ginsburg and Breyer. Imagine that.

I'm quite disappointed that the DC Metro Police Chief Cathy Lanier disagrees with the ruling, but I make this judgment not in a closet. As a law enforcement officer I know she has to do her job. Gun violence is nasty in DC, that's a given. But taking away national rights so she can mark down her homicide board is no solution. Her jurisdiction is no different than mine. Gun violence occurs. But here's the difference: if witnesses refuse to stand up, refuse to testify, refuse to make themselves known then that's a localized problem. And in DC that's a black problem. And those communities, those people, need to lay down in the bed of their own making. OFW. Right or not, racist or not, that's simply the truth.

Further, let's continue to do what I call the Logical Extension, and that is this: in an area where there is precipitously more gun violence than most any other spot in the nation, and in consideration of the fact that violence is generally trending down in the nation according to FBI statistics, what does that tend to indicate in terms of gun ownership and protection?

I submit this: DC Police Chief Lanier isn't doing her job or, at worst, is prohibited up to now from doing her job and allowing lawful citizens to do theirs.

But trust me: the fight isn't over. Channel chatter indicates certain elements are building the arguments to go after any semi-automatic weapon, handgun or long gun.

Consensus, however, now apparently runs a good portion of the court, not legal precedent. In another ruling, SCOTUS on Wednesday outlawed executions of people convicted of raping a child. In a 5-4 vote (Liberal jurists concur, Conservative Justices Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Scalia dissenting), the court said the Louisiana law allowing the death penalty to be imposed in such cases violates the Constitution's ban on cruel and unusual punishment as published in Kennedy v. Louisiana, 07-343.

In his majority opinion, Justice Kennedy wrote:
But Kennedy said the absence of any executions for rape and the small number of states that allow it demonstrate "there is a national consensus against capital punishment for the crime of child rape."

My point: SCOTUS deciding by a national trend rather than on precedent? What is this? Equaling "No Child Rapist Left Behind?"

The prior vote on Guantanamo provides greater rights to terrorists than our own soldiers. Again, 5 Liberals concur, 4 Conservatives (Roberts, Thomas, Scalia, Alito) dissent. I wrote about the decision here and here.

Oh. And SCOTUS is "off" now until October 6th.

In The Next Four Years:

The stakes in this election are simply too high. In the next presidential term, the office-holder will have the opportunity to select, at minimum, at least two and possibly three SCOTUS appointments. It is a given that whomever Barack Hussein Obama selects will sail through the Demorat-controlled Congress. What kind of persons do you think they will be?

With McCain, he has indicated an interest in appointing Strict Constructionists to SCOTUS.

In my opinion, a vote for anyone other than McCain equates to a guaranteed Barack Hussein Obama presidency. And that result, despite our hesitations and problems with McCain, is simply unacceptable. You stay home, you get Obama. You vote for anyone other than McCain, then you've thrown away your vote and you get Obama. This is precisely what Barack Hussein Obama and the Left wants.

As I have written time and again, whomever controls SCOTUS and education controls the nation and its future. Kennedy is obviously the swing vote. Breyer and Ginsburg are next to retire.

So just how important do you think control of SCOTUS is to the agenda of the Left?

Fairness Doctrine: Here Comes Your Blogging, Speaking and Printing Muzzle

I warned all my readers over a year ago about this problem on the horizon: the Demorats, Socialists and Leftists simply can't wait to remove your freedoms of speech.

Unless, of course, it's speech they promote.

John Gizzi writes on HumanEvents.com (reproduced here in its entirety):
The speaker of the House made it clear to me and more than forty of my colleagues yesterday that a bill by Rep. Mike Pence (R.-Ind.) to outlaw the “Fairness Doctrine” (which a liberal administration could use to silence Rush Limbaugh, other radio talk show hosts and much of the new alternative media) would not see the light of day in Congress during ’08. In ruling out a vote on Pence’s proposed Broadcaster's Freedom Act, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-CA.) also signaled her strong support for revival of the “Fairness Doctrine” -- which would require radio station owners to provide equal time to radio commentary when it is requested.

Experts say that the “Fairness Doctrine,” which was ended under the Reagan Administration, would put a major burden on small radio stations in providing equal time to Rush Limbaugh and other conservative broadcasters, who are a potent political force. Rather than engage in the costly practice of providing that time, the experts conclude, many stations would simply not carry Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and other talk show hosts who are likely to generate demands for equal time (my emphasis).

At a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor yesterday, I asked Pelosi if Pence failed to get the required signatures on a discharge petition to get his anti-Fairness Doctrine bill out of committee, would she permit the Pence measure to get a floor vote this year.

Oh keep reading, if you think the matter isn't in the forefront:
No,” the Speaker replied, without hesitation. She added that “the interest in my caucus is the reverse” and that New York Democratic Rep. “Louise Slaughter has been active behind this [revival of the Fairness Doctrine] for a while now.”

Pelosi pointed out that, after it returns from its Fourth of July recess, the House will only meet for another three weeks in July and three weeks in the fall. There are a lot of bills it has to deal with before adjournment, she said, such as FISA and an energy bill. “So I don’t see it [the Pence bill] coming to the floor,” Pelosi said.

“Do you personally support revival of the ‘Fairness Doctrine?’” I asked.

“Yes,” the speaker replied, without hesitation (my emphasis).

Pelosi perceives the power doesn't quite exist to push this bill through just yet.

But when Barack Hussein Obama becomes President of the United Statesm, make no mistake, this shall be one of the first bills proffered.

It is the clear and immediate intent of the Demorats, Leftists and Socialists to remove your ability to blog, speak and write fairly and/or hold opinion about events occurring in the United States, in order to keep people more completely in the dark and, moreover, to suppress objection to their agendas and power machinations.

Dissent, discussion, opinions, free and open markets, Demorats clearly indicate, must be stopped.

Get ready.

Go Ahead: Vote For Him

God is nothing save a projection of your chronic loneliness, says BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA.

They want a sense of purpose, a narrative arc to their lives. They're looking to relieve a chronic loneliness. And so they need an assurance that somebody out there cares about them, is listening to them — that they are not just destined to travel down that long road toward nothingness.

And there's your future President.

Changed, Banned, Outlawed, Censored, Stopped

CHANGED:

Barack Hussein Obama thinks it's important to change the Presidential seal and eliminate "E Pluribus Unum" as the motto. What say you? (though he has now recanted due to remarkable arrogance)

P.S.
I had five different topics originally arranged here which Blogger did not pick up and, as it took me a good three hours to arrange so, I'm not exerting that effort again only to be eliminated.

US: Get Ready For Brownouts Or Worse

As I wrote in a recent Little Miss Chatterbox comment section:
The Demorats are simply the Party of NO.

And we're about to pay a HEFTY PRICE not only in dollars but LIVES as well. Petroleum is only the TIP of the energy iceberg.

Yes, solving this problem requires a full and complete multi-faceted attack; not JUST "conservation" will do it. There is only ONE energy source that will run vehicles at this point: OIL. We NEED to continue on this trail while SIMULTANEOUSLY seeking all the other alternatives -- which includes not just saying NO to these alternatives.

DRILL NOW, BUILD NOW and, as the new graphic to the RIGHT side of my blog indicates, CUT NOW.

We are desperately RUNNING OUT of INFRASTRUCTURE on EVERY LEVEL in this nation and, on behalf of "Enviros" and the Religious Left, the Demorats have fallen into lockstep in terms of assuring our crisis turns ever deeper -- and actually begins to cost AMERICAN LIVES. Because, quite frankly, they do not understand nor care.

We all know the energy challenges facing us now, and NO one facet shall quell the crisis facing us at this point. Conservation, individually, is not the answer. Conservation won't run my car in the interim. Good thoughts won't run my car in the interim. And this country cannot abandon petroleum wholesale anyway -- too many other items (besides vehicles) require oil, to include just about everything in our world as well as various chemicals required for the medications we need -- heating oil, jet fuel, fuel oil, LPG, diesel. Vehicles are just one element of the oil situation.

The answer consists of the following multi-faceted attack:
  • Drill for more oil, domestically and internationally; yes, everyone knows it's no panacea and yes everyone knows it will take years for the additional oil to ramp online -- but I want this done if for no other reason than to tank up our strategic oil reserves for the future of our military when push comes to shove;
  • Keep the thought of conservation going, but conservation alone doesn't really address the problem;
  • Continue to seek alternative energy sources;
  • Continue to refine the quality of hybrid vehicles;
  • Continue to examine the feasability of mass-produced hydrogen vehicles;
  • Build more infrastructure on every level;
  • More and wider surface streets;
  • More and wider freeways;
  • More and more numerous rail lines;
  • More electrical generation stations;
  • More coal fired plants;
  • More propane plants;
  • More NUCLEAR plants

And here is why:

Constant brownouts and some major blackouts are in our immediate future. The Demorats' saying NO to EVERY chance to build ANY form of infrastructure has ASSURED this conclusion.
If you think runaway oil prices are upsetting, just wait for what's in store for electricity. Similar forces are in play. Demand is rising fast; supply is not. The cost to get coal and natural gas out of the ground is going up, and to that expense must be added the cost of the carbon permits that Congress and the presidential candidates are contemplating. Environmentalists are getting power plants scotched. China is sucking up energy. Leave such dynamics in play long enough, and price spikes in electricity follow. But that's just the beginning. We may be facing brownouts (voltage reductions) and even rolling blackouts.

Mark Mills in Forbes wrote:

By as early as next year our demand for electricity will exceed reliable supply in New England, Texas and the West and, by 2011, in New York and the mid-Atlantic region. A failure of a power plant, or a summer-afternoon surge in the load, could make for a blackout or brownout. "There really isn't any excess in the system," says Rick P. Sergel, chief executive at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).

Mr. Mills, who writes the Energy Intelligence column for Forbes.com. concludes:

Recall the summers of electric discontent for California in 2000 and 2001? Wholesale electricity prices skyrocketed, reflecting tight supply conditions (conditions that were exploited, but not created, by traders at Enron). The consequences were a bankruptcy filing by the state's biggest utility, Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (amex: PCG.PR.A - news - people ), and the early departure of a governor.

Multiply by dozens of states. Add in brownouts. Buy candles.

Again, what I've been writing for quite some time: we desperately need more infrastructure. OIL is only ONE point on the chart, albeit a large point. As I wrote on March 13th:

Again, remember who placed the country onto the path it's obviously taking: lacking the energy necessary to keep it running; namely: The Demorats.

In "Infrastructure" I proffered a quote from Fornicalia Senator Tom McClintock:

The Governor’s (Schwarzenegger's) crusade against “greenhouse gases” is, in fact, the single greatest impediment to the era of public works that he has promised, and the crusade for public works construction is the biggest impediment to reducing “greenhouse gases” that he has promised.

In my opinion, for the past 20+ years Americans have sacrificed infrastructure for social programs that have yielded little if any benefit -- except perhaps to create an entire "needy" class dependent on government and to eliminate males entirely from black families. And, of course, to ensure we keep the constant flow of worker drones (i.e., Mexican laborers) funneling into our country so as to continue the consistent underclass.

In that amount of time, however, we have done our level best to ensure that the necessary infrastructure to accommodate all the additional people has been seriously curtailed.

I created my then-list of requirements:

--Power generating stations;
--Sources of water;
--Adequate emergency response staffing (fire and police);
--Hospitals;
--Refineries for petroleum distillates;
--Interconnecting surface roads with sufficient capacity;
--Expanded freeways to accommodate future traffic needs;
--Sufficient railbeds to accommodate future interstate rail traffic;
--Airport expansion;
--Sewer capacity, water treatment capacity;

Are you ready, America? Get ready for the 1800s all over again:

  • Get ready to be boiling in the summer;
  • Freezing in the winter;
  • And unable to get anywhere or acquire anything.

You can thank the Enviros, the Religious Left and the Demorats for it all.
And I'm not so sure that isn't what the Enviro and the Religious Left really want.

The Worst Car

Shoving politics aside this weekend, the AAA magazine VIA named the worst cars of all time, in this order:

1. Yugo GV -- 46%
2. Ford Pinto -- 25%
3. AMC Pacer -- 15%
4. Chevrolet Vega -- 14%

I can't say I necessarily disagree, but then that made me question my own selection of automobiles over the years -- which ones were my worst cars?

1. 1977 Ford Courier Pickup
I acquired this ratty little truck when I was living with my soon-to-be first wife in a duplex off I-5, and working the graveyard shift at the Main Jail in downtown Sacramento. Young and looking for "inexpensive," I certainly found that in the Courier.

Actually in decent shape physically, with a white exterior and blue interior (and with blue indoor/outdoor carpeting cut and glued into the bed by its previous owner -- I'd acquired the Courier at an Auto Auction [never again!]), the Courier was loud, buzzy, leaked, and featured the Miraculous Singing Dash, an extra added bonus I'd never sought. The MSD would pitch up in volume on the freeway as some kind of obstruction, part or series of parts commenced first to rattling then transitioned to a grating, ear-piercing whistling when the vehicle reached breakneck speeds of -- oh, say, 50 or 55 mph. I once took the truck to 70 but I quickly determined, after it displayed the agility and braking distance of the Exxon Valdez, to let that be a lesson to me.

I remember this truck for two distinct scenarios involving cats. At the time, I had three cats in the house. One day, in a horrendous downpour, I pedaled the truck ala Fred Flintstone to a restaurant to meet my union president, about 35 miles from the house, involving mostly freeway driving. When I stopped in the parking lot I heard a loud meow from the bed. My young and thoroughly soaked tabby cat, Homes, had ridden the entire distance in the bed and somehow managed not to be flung to his death. I credit the carpet.

In the second scenario, I started the truck, backed out of the duplex driveway, and engaged first gear, heading to the corner. But immediately, something sounded very strange in the engine compartment and its acceleration was even less enthusiastic than normal. As I looked in the rearview mirror I observed what appeared to be either a puff of smoke or something light and fluffy emanating from the back of the truck. I knew that the empty lot next door had a lot of summer weeds, the kind with the puffballs at the ends. I thought: uh-oh, I've run over a clump of weeds and the truck is damaged.

I stopped immediately and looked under the truck. My first sight was that of a thin, shaven, formerly-orange cat tail hanging quite vertically and limply near the radiator. I opened the hood to find my orange tabby Elwood knocked senseless, laying on a flat piece of metal less than an inch below the whirling fanblades above, his body riddled with a series of random and very thin slashes where his fur was absent. Oddly enough, he never slept in my engine compartment again.

Damn. Reminds me of another Homes The Cat story:

Not long after, I couldn't find Homes. I couldn't find him for days, at least 5 or 6. I was convinced he was gone. At the time, a new house was under construction directly across the street from my duplex. One of the construction workers drove an old former CHP black-and-white car, a huge 1971 Dodge Polara (see photo). One afternoon I thought I heard a cat meowing but it sounded as though the cat was far away and in a tunnel. It appeared the sound was coming from the construction site. As I got closer to the car, I continued to hear the meowing. On a whim I queried: "Homes?" and acquired a series of long and tortured meows. The sounds were issuing from the right front fender. It took the two of us two hours to dismantle the Polara to the point where I could reach in and extricate my dessicated and emaciated cat. He had apparently sought a sleeping spot in the car, couldn't get out, and spent almost a week communting to and from the job site in the fender of the Polara. And no, Homes wasn't hurt, just thirsty and hungry.

I was going to tell you about the adventures of my second-worst car, a 1974 MG-B, but I'll save that for another time.

What was your worst car?

June 19, 2004: FOUR YEARS

I have been on Blogger for 4 years now. I began this blog on June 19, 2004.

I have managed to survive longer than 98% of the blogs extant.

In 2004 some major Life-Changing events occurred to me: a longstanding relationship ended, and I embarked upon a political road that I currently traverse today; this new current also managed to enable me to acquire my now-wife.

Life required that I let loose a mental, physical and fiscal drain because, after all, Life is quite short; my current wife is nothing but a mental and physical BLESSING to my Life. Imagine that.

At a time when I sought something solid onto which to cling, I not only created but enabled and proffered to the Blogosphere my Bloviating Zeppelin blogsite.

I threw my unexpurgated thoughts and emotions into the Blogosphere. I had no idea what would return. I literally bared my soul. And continue to do so today.

I kept writing for myself, not knowing if there was a readership developing or not.

A techno-idiot, I have somehow managed to claw myself over more technologically-advanced blogs.

And I have naught but you, my dear reader, to thank -- though my readership clearly challenges itself and some will recede and subsume but some will prevail.

Certainly, I'll try in my own clumsy and thick way to build a greater readership because, after all, I'm an admitted HTML idiot. My thanks to RB and TF for their techno-help. On the other hand I'm finding that many of my prognostications, due to my historical perspective, have come to fruition.

No matter where we go, no matter what we forecast, I hope you will all continue to read my blog.

And, of course, Great Thanks to my The Usual Suspects contingent!

Bush: Tap The Oil

President Bush made a speech this morning from the White House, dealing with energy and this nation. When he has made poor decisions I have taken him to task, and I am not generally a large supporter of the man; in fact, he is the sole reason I've stopped sending checks to the RNC or the GOP.

There are few people who can irritate me to the degree of President Bush and many times I've questioned not only his thinking, but wondered if he was a "covert" Demorat. Okay, perhaps not that bad, but Dubai Ports, his stance on illegal immigration, his refusal to seal our borders, Harriet Miers, his labeling of the Minutemen as "vigilantes," his refusal to adequately prosecute the war in Iraq, his refusal to even stand up for not only himself but the GOP -- pretty much inexcusable.

He still will stand, in my estimation, as one of The Worst Presidential Communicators in the history of the Presidency.

Which makes his newest speech on Wednesday all the more confounding and frustrating. From the speech regarding energy, these salient excerpts:

High oil prices are at the root of high gasoline prices. And behind those prices is the basic law of supply and demand. In recent years, the world's demand for oil has grown dramatically. Meanwhile, the supply of oil has grown much more slowly. As a result, oil prices have risen sharply, and that increase has been reflected at American gasoline pumps. Now much of the oil consumed in America comes from abroad -- that's what's changed dramatically over the last couple of decades. Some of that energy comes from unstable regions and unfriendly regimes. This makes us more vulnerable to supply shocks and price spikes beyond our control -- and that puts both our economy and our security at risk.

President Bush is correct in terms of these days being the locus and/or a summary of decades of inattention -- and finally welling over due to a converging cascade of failure chains.

In the short run, the American economy will continue to rely largely on oil. And that means we need to increase supply, especially here at home. So my administration has repeatedly called on Congress to expand domestic oil production. Unfortunately, Democrats on Capitol Hill have rejected virtually every proposal -- and now Americans are paying the price at the pump for this obstruction. Congress must face a hard reality: Unless Members are willing to accept gas prices at today's painful levels -- or even higher -- our nation must produce more oil. And we must start now. So this morning, I ask Democratic Congressional leaders to move forward with four steps to expand American oil and gasoline production.

Again, another Truism that NO ONE in the DEM (Defeatist, Elitist Media) wish to acknowledge: the Demorats have CONSISTENTLY REFUSED to help make this country energy-independent. NO to coal-fired plants. NO to more refineries. NO to more electrical generation stations. NO to anything nuclear (and DAMN the 1979 movie "The China Syndrome" for its negative slant on nuclear power!). NO to drilling in the states or off our shores.

President Bush outlined four energy relief procedures:

1) First, we should expand American oil production by increasing access to the Outer Continental Shelf, or OCS. Experts believe that the OCS could produce about 18 billion barrels of oil. That would be enough to match America's current oil production for almost ten years. The problem is that Congress has restricted access to key parts of the OCS since the early 1980s. Since then, advances in technology have made it possible to conduct oil exploration in the OCS that is out of sight, protects coral reefs and habitats, and protects against oil spills. With these advances -- and a dramatic increase in oil prices -- congressional restrictions on OCS exploration have become outdated and counterproductive.

2) Second, we should expand oil production by tapping into the extraordinary potential of oil shale. Oil shale is a type of rock that can produce oil when exposed to heat or other process[es]. In one major deposit -- the Green River Basin of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming -- there lies the equivalent of about 800 billion barrels of recoverable oil. That's more than three times larger than the proven oil reserves of Saudi Arabia. And it can be fully recovered -- and if it can be fully recovered it would be equal to more than a century's worth of currently projected oil imports.

3) Third, we should expand American oil production by permitting exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, or ANWR. When ANWR was created in 1980, Congress specifically reserved a portion for energy development. In 1995, Congress passed legislation allowing oil production in this small fraction of ANWR's 19 million acres. With a drilling footprint of less than 2,000 acres -- less than one-tenth of 1 percent of this distant Alaskan terrain -- America could produce an estimated 10 billion barrels of oil. That is roughly the equivalent of two decades of imported oil from Saudi Arabia. Yet my predecessor vetoed this bill.

4) And finally, we need to expand and enhance our refining capacity. Refineries are the critical link between crude oil and the gasoline and diesel fuel that drivers put in their tanks. With recent changes in the makeup of our fuel supply, upgrades in our refining capacity are urgently needed. Yet it has been nearly 30 years since our nation built a new refinery, and lawsuits and red tape have made it extremely costly to expand or modify existing refineries. The result is that America now imports millions of barrels of fully-refined gasoline from abroad. This imposes needless costs on American consumers. It deprives American workers of good jobs. And it needs to change.

Urgent: House Democrats call for nationalization of refineries
Per Pergram-Capitol Hill
House Democrats responded to President's Bush's call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live.

Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.

This is the first step towards nationalizing our complete energy resources. Perhaps first with refineries; then oil companies in general. Then power companies. Then water companies. Then general utilities. Then communications companies. When all else fails, let's let the government prove it can't manage another strata of America. Socialism -- it's always worked for every other nation on earth, has it not?

Under Demorat control.

This is a chance for a pummeling of the Demorats heretofore unafforded in quite some time.

This is a chance for the GOP to hit the Demorats every hour of every day of every week until November, hitting the airwaves, the written media, the internet, the blogs, every manner of communication possible -- telling the electorate about the manner in which the GOP will be:

  • Securing the nation (2,474 days unassailed since 9/11);
  • Securing our energy;
  • Securing our borders;
  • Appointing appropriate judges on all levels;
  • Advocating for drilling wherever possible;
  • Yet, pushing for alternative energy sources including nuclear.
The Demorats are, in truth, INCREDIBLY WEAK!

They are bent over into the perfect position for their asses to be kicked!

But the Republicans JUST WON'T DO IT -- though they COULD!

As a Leader of this country, President Bush predominantly disappoints on many levels.

However, when he's correct, he's correct and I'll provide credit. But, more pointedly: why so late?

My Insanity, Racism & A Sea Change

Some anonymous persons have recently challenged me to re-examine my stance on any number of issues. In the comment section of another blog where the topic was "Pentagon lawyers sought harsh interrogations" directly after 9/11, I responded:

Oooh, [blogger] is BAD, [blogger] is RACIST, BZ should disassociate from [blogger] — except, [blogger] is frequently CORRECT, such as THIS time.

The Left continuously attempts to use this country’s principles AGAINST us and itself, and this example is no exception. Do we not, I ask, hear time and again those who say “if we stoop to devices such as this, we become no better than ‘them’?”

I am all for adhering to the letter and SPIRIT of the law whenever possible. But I also posit: why do we abide the law yet provide more to those who do everything BUT adhere to any save their own? Geneva Convention? Uniforms? Clear markings? No targeting CIVILIANS?

And even so, Haditha? John Murtha and Charlie Rangel, who accused the soldiers without facts, held preconceived notions to fit an AGENDA? And the result, 8 marines charged = 7 charges dropped or acquitted or exonerated. Under the UCMJ.

And now, in consideration of the newest SCOTUS ruling: that those in custody at Guantanamo are to acquire legal benefits NOT EVEN AFFORDED TO OUR SOLDIERS who FIGHT for our country?

If you show WEAKNESS in front of a junkyard dog, the dog WILL attack — and our enemies are junkyard dogs fueled by a corrupted Islam.

So yes, I have re-examined my stances and determined that I will hold to them. I will hold to my apparently liberal comment policy. I will hold to allowing adults to make their own decisions. I will respond to those who situationally- or name-call/demean me: I shut you off. Whatever argument you chose to make becomes resultingly null to me.

I go here because I personally believe the stakes are critically high. I personally believe that we shall look back, during an Obama Administration (and further, more Left-leaning or oppressive administrations), as these current months being "The Good Old Days of Expression."

Because I truly believe that our POLITICIANS and THOSE IN POWER in AMERICA are lagging seriously behind various Global trends. Do we not recall that Lincoln suspended habeus corpus -- in nation-threatening circumstances? People have called me a NeoCon; I am, in fact, your worst O.C. -- an Original Conservative.

Europeans are already discovering that unlimited immigration doesn't work. That unified monetary systems don't work. That socialist systems don't work. That it's imperative to create more and greater power systems and infrastructure to include nuclear. That cramming millions of people into centralized, concentrated and vertical housing and service systems doesn't work. That ignoring the will of the majority in inconsideration of history doesn't work.

Even once-liberal American authors are slowly coming around. From the 2008 Odd Thomas book, "Odd Hours" by Dean Koontz (pages 239, 240):

Those who choose to live criminal lives are not the brightest among us.

This truth inspires a question: If evil geniuses are so rare, why do so many bad people get away with so many crimes against their fellow citizens and, when they become leaders of nations, against humanity?

Edmund Burke provided the answer in 1795: The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

I would only add this: It is also essential that good men and women not be educated and propagandized into believing that real evil is a myth and that all malevolent behavior is merely the result of a broken family's or a failed society's shortcomings, amenable to cure by counseling and by the application of new economic theory.

I suggest you read that quote, particularly the last paragraph, at least two more times.

There shall come a time, I fervently believe, when the difference between a Serf and a Free Man in America shall be an old Ruger Mini-14 in .223 caliber filled with illegal back-taped 30-round banana magazines (and many more in your pack), clasped in the hands of a civilian fighter familiar with the adage "front sight!" So shove me into your pigeonholes as you will.

I can only hope this occurs after my death because I don't want to see it.

Already, the person thought slotted to become Barack Hussein Obama's National Security Advisor, Richard Danzig (formerly served as Navy Secretary under President Clinton), made statements resulting in the United Kingdom's Telegraph as writing:

Winnie the Pooh, Luke Skywalker and British football hooligans could shape the foreign policy of Barack Obama if he becomes US President, according to a key adviser.

You don't treat the security of this nation with the most serious of deliberation, you guarantee a distinct future. Danzig? Germany? Nazis? Totalitarianism? Hello?

Say what you will about President Bush: this nation has NOT suffered a domestic act of terrorism for seven years.

Do the "Logical Extension" -- after January of 2009.

The Allure of "Deadliest Catch"

[Sorry, no politics today]

I'll be the first to admit: Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" has me hooked.

It involves the allure of the Individual Man's Freedom.

Man Against Rogue Nature.

And freedom that, we all know, is diminished by society, purposely, year by year by year.

Women are drawn to the show because they enjoy the rogue-ish, buccaneer-like, independent Bad Boy fantasy visages of not only the Captains of the various boats (employing the power fantasy) but the crew members as well for their sense of self, centrism of purpose, simplicity and vulnerability.

Men are drawn to the show because they too enjoy their fantasies of power, independence, freedom, centrism of task, challenge, domination, strength.

They, we all, vicariously live the life of crab fishermen and their Captains over and above our 9-to-5 office jobs.

You can't get any better, any more vicarious than that.

  • We all know that Sig Hansen (Northwestern) has his own boat which has been in the family, pushes his crew constantly (he is one of 2 official "consultants" for the show);
  • We all know that Keith Colburn (Wizard) has his own rituals and can be a militaristic jerk;
  • We all know that Jonathan Hillstrand (Time Bandit) is the gravel-voiced, goateed Biker Dude Bad Boy who'd rather drink over a burn barrel, and that his brother Andy is the otra-captain who takes charge during Opilio season;
  • We all know that Larry Hendrick (Sea Star) is the heftier blonde captain and famous for his Hawaiian shirts.
  • We all know that Phil Harris's (Cornelia Marie) diet consists of cigarettes, Red Bull, cigarettes and more cigarettes.

Yes, we look upon these guys as the last of the veritable American Cowboys, men who can make $48,000 or more in a month or less.

What we don't see is:

The brain-glazing, back-breaking work, under the most horrible of numbing, freezing conditions. Taking place on a rocking vessel in massive seas, against the threat of rollover and capsizing.

Yes, massive amounts of money made -- but also massive amounts of money spent. For the Captains or boat owners it's nothing to spend $50,000 for a tune-up. $100,000+ for new engines. $250,000+ for a refit. Money comes in but, trust me, money goes out. Crab boats are holes in the water into which you throw copious amounts of cash. Then their are the permits. The licenses. The registrations. The inspections. Seasonal licenses are thousands of dollars.

There is also the time factor. The scheduling. The press and stress of finding the crab, laying down everything you've got and pulling up the most in the least amount of time; a season could be a few days long, a couple weeks at most. And then the forced return so you don't miss your slot at the crab processor.

And finally, the killing fatigue. Yes, those men are amped as much as possible on cigarettes, Red Bull, coffee, caffeine. But you can bet -- and of this you never hear or read -- I'd wager prodigious amounts of methamphetamine as well.

Still and all, I must admit, Deadliest Catch has me hooked.

World Hunger

Yes, yes, I know some say I shouldn't, but I actually do scrutinize the Lefty blogs I've listed in my blogroll to the right and, just last night, I came across an interesting post in the Daily Kos. An author named Devilstower posted:

The forces of status quo and inertia scream at any request for improvement. Energy plans that could get the US to 20% renewables by 2020 have been called unrealistic. Reducing our national carbon footprint by any percentage has been challenged as too expensive.

But according to a new report from the UN, by 2030 the world has another daunting task: a 50% increase in the production of food.

World food production must rise by 50 percent by 2030 to meet increasing demand, U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon told world leaders Tuesday at a summit grappling with hunger and civil unrest caused by food price hikes.

Oddly enough (as the Daily Kos clearly supports Barack Hussein Obama and can't wait for Hillary Clinton to simply Go Away -- imagine that!), Mr. Obama wants the United States to step up to the plate (as clearly, to his way of thinking, the US has never managed to do that before in recorded history -- uh, perhaps his mental recorded history and that of his wife Michelle) and spend $845 billion on the Global Poverty Act which, of course, seeks to eradicate global hunger.

But wait, let's vent the hypocrisy and get at the core of the Left's philosophy.

If they truly wish to continue with their current philosophy, then what's good for Europe, the United States and essentially any western culture (and more specifically, Anglos) should be equally pleasant and equitable for the rest of the world.

If we find ourselves challenged to produce 50% more food for the world (and you know that task shall only fall to the aforementioned western cultures) then perhaps what we truly need is a 50% future death rate for non-western cultures -- to be fair. The Left is, after all, all about "fairness" is it not?

If massive amounts of abortion -- not just tolerated abortion but enforced abortion -- should the Left have its way -- seem acceptable for the West then I submit those same principles should find themselves into the acceptable category for the rest of the planet.

Hey, if we can insist on forcing limited reproduction on Anglo cultures, then why not everyone else? Wouldn't that solve the problem? Look at San Francisco and Seattle: there are 40% more dogs in those cities than children! How wondrous is that?

Further, think of not only the food saved but the future carbon emissions as well, you Religious Lefties!

Sounds like a win/win to me!

Your Imperial Courts: "You Say You Want A Revolution"?

[NOTE: many will likely be blogging about the passing of Tim Russert. I did not watch Meet The Press nor did I know about Russert or much care. However, my sympathies are obviously extended to the Russert family, his wife Maureen and son Luke; no one should pass at the young age of 58. -BZ]

The Supreme Court of the United States recently ruled along a strict liberal bent that the Guantanamo Bay detainees have the same rights as anyone else in custody in the United States to contest their detention before a judge, that they are due civil trials despite the fact that they are enemy combatants completely disavowing and abrogating any and all Geneva Convention rules, and seek the complete downfall of this nation and all Western culture.

Upon reading the opinion in Boumediene v Bush, one must conclude that the majority knew where they wanted to go and simply had to figure out how to get there. The trip was not a pretty one. How could it be when the justices seemingly wrote a map based on ideas cherry picked from over 400 years of established law and backfilled with justifications to create a new right for alien combatants that Americans themselves do not enjoy?

But, instead – as Justice Scalia pointed out in his dissent – they for the first time in our nation’s history, conferred a Constitutional right of habeas corpus on alien enemies detained abroad by our military forces in the course of an ongoing war – a broader right than has been given to our own citizens. The court majority did so acknowledging that they could find no precedent to confer such a right to alien enemies not within sovereign U.S. territory.

The majority had simply decided that prior courts had denied such rulings based on “practical considerations.” In other words in prior cases and prior wars it had just been too inconvenient to bestow the right of habeas corpus upon non-citizens in foreign jurisdictions. So, by focusing on what they saw as “practical” instead of those pesky court precedents based upon the issues of citizenship and foreign territory … and the Constitution … the majority reached the conclusion they wanted to, since what is practical is subjective. One can only ponder the state of our nation directed by the subjective instead of the Constitution.

Of course the Left took this ruling with great glee, despite the fact that they'd be the first to sport slit throats under an Islamic rule.

In that judicial vein, the Fornicalia Supreme Court ruled that a ban on gay marriage was unlawful Thursday (May 14), effectively leaving same-sex couples in America's most populous state free to tie the knot in a landmark ruling.

As I wrote in that post:

Once again, the California Supreme Court shows residents that it couldn't care less what 36-million Californians think (as Fornicalia approved Proposition 22 in the year 2000, on a 4,579,386 / 61.2% Yes votes -- 2,897,689 / 38.8% No votes), by granting same sex marriage.

This issue will be, ONCE AGAIN, on the November ballot in Fornicalia and -- trust me -- will ultimately end up in SCOTUS. I predict with this: as voted SCOTUS on Guantanmo so may SCOTUS go in gay marriage.

Obama will skew SCOTUS even further to the Left. McCain may be a bit of a question-mark; Obama will be a given.

Imperial US courts.

I am taking a stance. I say: Most American courts couldn't care less what the majority of American citizens want; they simply have an agenda.

Those who pay taxes, those who foot the federal, state and local bills, those who labor and sweat and cannot take the time to protest, who cannot sacrifice the time and the dollars required to stand in line carrying placards because they are consumed necessarily with providing for their children and families, these are the people the courts and politicians and administrations stand to alienate. To ignore.

And I say, as I wrote in the comment section of another blog: the more you remove rationality from the courts, the more you remove rationality from the various federal and state legislatures, the more you disavow the will of the People, the more you box in the electorate -- then the more you almost guarantee that the only road left for protest is violent insurrection.

To those "in power:" You ignore The People to your own detriment.

You read it here first.

Disheartened

Our US Supreme Court recently ruled that those who wish to kill us, who wish to eradicate this nation completely, who do not comply with any aspect of the Geneva Convention, who purposely target civilians, are due their day in civilian courts -- that they are not enemy combatants. They deserve the same consideration as a person in Traffic Court.

At its heart, the 70-page ruling says that the detainees have the same rights as anyone else in custody in the United States to contest their detention before a judge. Kennedy also said the system the administration has put in place to classify detainees as enemy combatants and review those decisions is not an adequate substitute for the right to go before a civilian judge.

This is precisely why I continuously emphasize the critical importance of Conservatives controlling SCOTUS and American education.

Based purely on the ages of the current justices, the nation's 44th president can reasonably expect to fill at least one vacancy.

Of the five justices who created a majority in the case of the Guantanamo detainees, Justice John Paul Stevens is 88, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 75, and David Souter and Stephen Breyer are each 69. Kennedy is 71.

And why I shall vote for McCain over Obama.

Please note these very important pull quotes from The Associated Press:

Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter and John Paul Stevens — the court's more liberal members — joined (Justice Anthony) Kennedy to form the majority.

In a blistering dissent, Justice Antonin Scalia said the decision "will make the war harder on us. It will almost certainly cause more Americans to be killed."

Chief Justice John Roberts in his own dissent to Thursday's ruling, criticized the majority for striking down what he called "the most generous set of procedural protections ever afforded aliens detained by this country as enemy combatants."

Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas also dissented.

Trust me when I tell you that, as a result of this ruling, there will be a major media "show trial" (or several) on the order of the OJ Simpson trial and, having that trial and the freedoms of the American judicial system pushed into the faces of the American Electorate and, with liberal attorneys queued up for miles to represent those "oppressed persons" (read: "I'll make a public name for myself!"), taking advantage of and exploiting every fatal flaw, nook, cranny and chink in the American legal armour -- two things will happen:

1. Islamic terrorists will only be emboldened and
2. The American electorate will only be so more enraged

Those politicians and administrators controlling America are clearly taking this country down a prognosticated path whose destination seems to be headed towards a conflagration of dissent, storms and fiery violence.

But, of course, more about this later as things progress or -- more appropriately under a complete Demorat Rule with Obama and a like-controlled House and Senate: deteriorate.

P.S.
The photo is that of the average Guantanamo cell. This is cleaner than anything any detainee has ever encountered in their life.

OIL: Socialism FIRST

This is getting beyond ridiculous, beyond any point of rationality, beyond any acceptable sense of reason. From PowerLine (and please read the entire link):

Today (Wednesday) Congressman John Peterson offered an amendment in the Appropriations Committee to ease federal restrictions on exploration of the outer continental shelf, which contains enormous reserves of both oil and natural gas. The Democrats defeated the Peterson amendment on a 9-6 party line vote, demonstrating, as Minority Leader John Boehner said, "cold indifference toward the problems of typical families and businesses in their congressional districts and across the country." House Republicans intend to continue forcing votes on proposals to liberate our economy by developing our domestic oil and gas resources.

That means the ability of the US to drill for oil from 50 to 200 miles from our sovereign coasts was DEFEATED along a strict party line on Wednesday -- EVERY Demorat voted against the amendment.

Further, FoxNews wrote:

He (Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.) continued: "Whether it's shutting down domestic exploration in large areas both onshore and offshore, instituting a moratorium on oil shale development, increasing the gas tax, or refusing to pursue coal to liquids, Democrats long ago implemented a 'gradual adjustment' on gas prices that's reflected today in the $4.05 Americans are paying for a gallon of gas."

That means the Demorats couldn't care less about your "pain at the pumps."

Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin says, about ANWR: http://www.anwr.org/content/view/96/

They couldn't care less about you.

They couldn't care less about me.

They couldn't care less about the single mother with the 1989 Pontiac who has to drive 35 miles to work. Who can't afford to relocate 30 miles closer to work. Who is currently paying $4.28 per gallon for gas in Fornicalia. And works 5 or 6 days a week, 8 to 10 hours per day, who spends an hour commuting every day. Not because SHE created the circumstance -- but because she is simply dealing with what is.

They couldn't care less about the individual entrepreneur, such as my ex-girlfriend, who drives a Subaru Outback thousands and thousands of miles in order to service her extended districts because she is a factory rep of numerous kitchen and bath manufacturers, and the job requires her physical presence in many showrooms, and her success depends upon serving these accounts, many miles apart, in a timely fashion.

They couldn't care less about the independent truckers, those who pay a minimum of $100,000+ for a tractor and, at current local Fornicalia rates, $5.20 per gallon for diesel fuel. An average 150-gallon aluminum saddle tank, times 2, at $5.20 = $1,560 per fill.

Everything is brought by truck to a final point, ultimately.

And by rail. The average EMD SD-70M locomotive possesses a 4,000-gallon fuel tank per loco and, to fill this at $5.20 per gallon, would = $20,800.00 It is not uncommon for the average train to have three to four locomotives. So a lashup of, for example, 3 older EMD SD40 locomotives would = a consumption of 40' per gallon.

I paid 25-cents a gallon in 1971, for my 1966 Ford Fairlane 4-door 289. And trust me: GAS WILL BE THE POLITICAL ISSUE COME NOVEMBER.

John McCain had best realize that right now.

Because the Demorats want to force you.
  • They want to force you out of your suburban homes.
  • They want to force you into cities and densely-populated clusters, into apartments -- and smaller ones at that.
  • They want to push you out of your vehicles -- any personal vehicles -- and into any and all forms of mass transit.
  • They want to tell you what you may eat or ingest;
  • They want to tell you what to wear;
  • They want to tell you what to say;
  • They want to tell you what to write;
  • They want to tell your children what to learn;
  • They want to tell you what to think;
  • They don't want you to have the standard of living that you do and, implicitly, the FREEDOMS THAT YOU DO.
But please allow me to state this unequivocally:

  • In terms of oil and petroleum:
  • It isn't about SUPPLY,
  • It's about PRODUCTION and the LACK thereof.
The oil exists. There are massive amounts of fields that we have 1. Not yet found and 2. Not yet exploited or 3. Could not render due to lack-of-technological ease.

But the technology and the emphasis now exists to tap resources heretofore thought to be without our access.

We CAN DO.

Politically, we have CHOSEN NOT to do. Including McCain -- who has CHOSEN NOT to tap oil reserves in ANWR -- the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, completely verboten per the Left.

It is as simple as that.

Attack On Iran: Is It Coming?

An opinion writer for Beirut, Lebanon's newspaper "The Daily Star," former foreign minister and vice chancellor to Germany from 1998 to 2005, Joschka Fischer, recently wrote:

As things look, Israel may well attack Iran soon
By Joschka Fischer Commentary on Friday, May 30, 2008
As a result of misguided American policy, the threat of another military confrontation hangs like a dark cloud over the Middle East. The United States' enemies have been strengthened, and Iran - despite being branded as a member of the so-called "axis of evil" - has been catapulted into regional hegemony.

As Fischer writes, an attack may be at hand and delineates these reasons:

- When President Bush recently visited Israel as the country celebrated its 60th birthday, it was expected that Palestinian-Israeli relations would be the chief topic discussed. Instead, it was Iran.
- It has been speculated that during his visit, Bush gave Israel the green light for an attack on Iran.
- Political pressure is mounting in Israel for action to halt the Iranian threat.
- The outgoing commander of the Israeli air force has said that the air force is capable of any mission, no matter how difficult, to protect Israel's security.
- With the Bush presidency approaching its end and uncertainty about his successor's policy toward Israel and Iran, the "window of opportunity" for an Israeli attack is potentially closing, and that window "is now, during the last months of Bush's presidency."

Fischer finally writes:

Although it is acknowledged in Israel that an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would involve grave and hard-to-assess risks, the choice between acceptance of an Iranian bomb and an attempt at its military destruction, with all the attendant consequences, is clear. Israel won't stand by and wait for matters to take their course.

Iran must understand that without a diplomatic solution in the coming months, a dangerous military conflict is very likely to erupt. It is high time for serious negotiations to begin.

If this is indeed correct, you can expect the lid to be blown off the Middle East box.

Yoni Tidi, a regular on Hugh Hewitt, posts:
(IsraelNN.com) A diplomatic-security source in Israel said that "in the end, Israel will have to attack Iran in order to prevent it from achieving nuclear capability," Maariv-NRG reported Friday. The source is "well versed in materials connected with Iran's nuclear development, contacts between Israel and the U.S. and timetables."

The source and other senior officials think that the chance of a U.S. strike against Iran is growing slimmer as time goes by.

You can expect $200+ a barrel oil, $10+ a gallon gas -- if you can get it at all. Not because of a necessary diminishment of supply, but because of the "perceived trauma." Though wanted by many, attacking and/or bombing Iran could have some very serious consequences for the US, the region and the world. There will be a clear cost.

That is not to indicate that Iran's nuclear grasp shouldn't be stopped.

Barack Hussein Obama: Let The Lies Commence!

My very good friend, A Jacksonian, at Dumb Looks Still Free (and a frequent and massive commenter on this blog, only to its betterment) responded to one of my recent posts regarding Barack Hussein Obama and the conviction of Tony Rezko.

I investigated just one small aspect of AJ's comment regarding, in this example, "earmarks." Political earmarks, for those just tuning in, are generally considered Washington, DC "pork" such as the former Alaskan "bridge to nowhere" potentially costing millions of dollars.

Earmarks have exploded in number in the past decade -- climbing from 4,126 in 1994 to 12,852 in 2006, according to the Congressional Research Service -- and this has led to abuses. Former representative Randy "Duke" Cunningham (R-Calif.) is serving a prison sentence after pleading guilty to bribery for steering government money through earmarks to defense contractors that gave him expensive gifts in return.

Good. Now we have a bit of a grasp on earmarks. With that in mind, what is Demorat presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama's view on earmarks? From the BHO PDF file available on his own website (page 33 in the PDF), he writes:

Cut Pork Barrel Spending: Obama introduced and passed bipartisan legislation that would require more disclosure and transparency for special-interest earmarks. Obama believes that spending that cannot withstand public scrutiny cannot be justified. Obama will slash earmarks to no greater than what they were in 2001 and ensure all spending decisions are open to the public.

Let us now contrast Barack Hussein Obama's public statement and policy on earmarks with the reality of his earmark requests for 2006 as documented in an article by Lynn Sweet:
